So I came in and bought multiple pieces of driftwood while in the process of building an aquascape. I finished the project and was left with a couple pieces that I didnt need, so I went back to the store with the unused pieces to return them. Lo and behold, they have a no-returns policy on rocks and driftwood. No one had informed me of that when I bought the wood so I was somewhat surprised, but I knew they must have a sign or something stating that policy, right? Wrong. I looked all around the area where the driftwood sits as well as at the front counter where they have a list of store policies. Nothing. No signs, nothing stated in the policy list, nothing on the receipt. Nothing. I asked an employee to show me where I could find any such notation. She said "We have a sign up right by the driftwood", but of course when she went to check herself there was nothing there, to which she replied "Well, its been our policy for a long time". So Im just supposed to know about your policy because youve had it "for a long time"? Even after seeing that they had nothing written stating the policy, they were still unwilling to let me return the items. I would honestly like to write a positive review, but the management of that situation was straight BS.

I come here a lot to look at the animals. Im happy to see that most of them are healthy and happy. However, my only buying experience was bad. I wanted to get some naked rats. I asked for two male rats. The guy helping me picked out two rats and I brought them home. Not only was one of the rats female, she was PREGNANT. Which I found out two days later after she gave birth to four fuzzy rat babies! Needless to say, though they were cute, it was upsetting. How was I supposed to take care of 6 rats??? The employees are nice and helpful, but they know as much as you do about animals. If not, less. EDIT: May 1st, 2015. It happened AGAIN! I just bought a kitten there a week ago. I took her to the vet because she had some eye discharge and was sneezing. I found out it was a mild form of cat herpes. I also found out that my female kitten was, indeed, a male. They also told me HE liked this expensive cat food they stock, so I bought a smallish bag of it for $12+, and he doesnt even look twice at it. Ive found soft food and hard food hell eat, but good grief!! Im just out that money because why bother with this store? Im lowering my rating from 3 stars to 2 because this is absolutely ridiculous.

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE! I recently purchased 2 guinea pigs from this location. They were, from what we were told(after having to pester and return to the location), around 11 weeks old when we got them. One of them seemed to have really bad gas & I ended up taking him to the vet. They were in the Male Guinea Pig Cage but were anything but. Both of the animals we purchased were females and one had become pregnant. The only solace they offered was a refund on the pregnant pig on the condition that I return her. I have bonded with this animal and have spent so much time and money caring for her that the lack of any sort of recourse on their part is insulting. I had hoped that this was a caring and considerate establishment but my experience has shown it to just be another money fueled venture that puts animals lives at risk for the sake of profit. I may have my guinea pig die with all of her babies because they could not properly sex and house them. Honestly a very basic and necessary part of own a pet store.

Very upset. We go in, find the puppy of our DREAMS!!!! THIS LADY hears us talking about wanting to hold her, but we cant find an available employee...at the time, shes holding a sweet little chihuahua. "Do you guys want to hold him for a min.?" Of COURSE MY DAUGHTER wants to...there are no others available to hold.,. Next thing I know THIS GENEROUS LADY HAS OUR PUP! She went up front, snuck an employee, took her to the back , signed the paperwork, as Im listening close to the door ( as it was the ONLY TERRIOR MIX)( which I had ALREADY TOLD THIS SAME UNAVAILALE SALES LADY WE WANTED A TERRIER MIX SPECIFICALLY) And Sold her OUR pup!!!! I about cried.... Our last terrier died in a tragic accident. The Customer did a bait and switch and the EMPLOYEE could have EASILY told her she had a BUYER because I told HER I KNOW YOURE BUSY BUT I WANT HER! She knew. Both of them knew. It was the plain matter of me being in jeans and a baseball cap and this other lady being dressed in jewels and a sweater. Not cool at all.

Customer service was ok, someone pointed me in the right direction (granted, I was just getting a betta fish), but I hadnt done research before, and wasnt sure exactly what to look for, and I am not sure how healthy my fish is. The water it was in at the store was pretty dirty. But the people who did help me were kind. I wanted to support a local business (not a chain) which is why I went there, but it felt understaffed (though the people I observed seemed like they were getting good help, I just couldnt catch anyones eye) a little crowded and all the dirty empty fish tanks on the top shelf didnt help, but overall seemed to have decent ish selection. Ill probably check somewhere else first next time though. I live 100 miles away, or Id probably use my fish insurance (which is a cool option) and get a new one, but hopefully this little guy pulls through!

This place was terrible. I bought a cockatiel from here (it being the only pet store i could find one), first off the pet associate was very aggressive with the bird, nearly broke the other birds leg in the cage too! I am not sure about the other animals in the store but the birds dont seem to be very used to people so they must have never been handled. My bird was put in a small paper bag, something youd take your lunch in. Once I got home i noticed blood all over his feathers, called the store and they said I could take him back. What on earth?! no way in hell I was taking him back there. this post is a few months after purchasing my bird, its been an uphill battle getting him to trust me- having raised birds before I am not unfamiliar with them. I didnt have a good experience with this store my first time and I feel very bad for the animals.

We really like this place! I love their selection and the health of their betta and other fish. I pass many other stores on my way to this little place, but I trust that what I purchase there will be happy and healthy. I give it 4 instead of 5 stars because I think some items are priced a bit high, but with that said, they have a lot of selection for not a very big location. Also, while their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, it is sometimes hard to get the service you want as quickly as you may hope. That being said, I keep returning! I discovered this place 2 years ago and have returned many times since! Thank you Animal Ark for your quality, friendliness and service!
