WARNING: ASK ABOUT THE RETURN POLICY I have been to this store twice and both of my experiences have left me wanting. In both instances I found the staff, and especially the owner Wes Gardner, distant, cold, and better suited to running a morgue then beautiful toy store. The store is beautiful, warm, and looks like an old school toy store. The less then friendly staff, quickly turns the experience chilly and sour. The first time I was in the store not a single staff member said a word to me. The second time I decided I would purchase a toy that I was looking for, but couldnt find anywhere else. I would have purchased other toys, but I knew they were $1.37 at another store, while the asking price at Teton Toys was $5.99. When I approached the counter to purchase my toy, the man behind the counter, Wes Gardner, was blank, unwelcoming, and didnt even ask how I was. Once the purchase was complete I was handed the receipt, and without even a cursory glance, or a thank you from Wes I left the store. The toy I purchased was defective. I returned to the store within 2 hours of purchasing it. Wes was confrontational, and rude. Muttering under his breath just loud enough for me to hear, and dropping some rather choice words. You then promptly, and with great drama threw the kite in the trash, all while continuing to grumbling. I asked where the stores return policy was stated, he said the bottom of the receipt, When I presented the original receipt there was no return policy, nor was it posted anywhere in the store. I am usually a huge fan of independent stores, and will go out of my way to support them. I will however never step foot again in Teton Toys. Some Friendly advise Wes if you want your store to be successful: 1. DISPLAY YOUR RETURN POLICY! 2.Greet every customer that enters your store with a smile. 3. Thank every customer for coming in, whether or not they bought something. 4. The customer is always right. If Mr. Gardner had been gracious, and had the return policy posted. He would have had a customer for life. Because he was rude, unkind, and cursed I will make sure to inform people who are looking for toys, to purchase them anywhere else, BUT NOT AT TETON TOYS!!! Mr. Gardner GET OVER YOUR SELF, 1: The first time I entered your store was a week ago. Not the day I purchased the kite. You didnt greet me then, and you didnt greet me today. 2: You never offered, or mentioned a bag. You simply handed me the kite, and let me walk out the door. 3: No matter if you are in the midst of a big order, or not you should make every customer that comes into your store feel like a guest. NOT like a tumble weed that happened to blow across your path. 4: I would have no idea how lax your return policy is since it isnt posted anywhere. You stated today that your return policy is if its opened its not returnable. Thats not lax its ludicrous, especially when the stores youre competing with take anything back. In the end when I asked you about the return policy you said it was on the bottom of the receipt which was a LIE, and when I presented the receipt for a second time to show you, SURPRISE it wasnt there. BTW: EVERY STORE HAS ITS RETURN POLICY POSTED. WASTE THE PAPER!!! 5: The rip happened when the dysfunctional "Durable" kite hit the ground, after many failed attempts to get it up in the air. NOT while it was in the air. You never even let me explain because you jumped into your BLAME and SHAME game. NEXT TIME ILL TRY FLYING A 30 INCH "DURABLE" KITE WHEN ITS A SOFT BREEZE. 6: If you cant handle being in your store 24/7 you should have thought longer, and harder about opening it. You being over worked is not an excuse for the way you conducted yourself today. FINALY: IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS, WHY DO YOU ONLY RESPOND TO THE 1 STAR REVIEWS? YOU SHOULD THANK EVERY 5 STAR REVIEW ON HERE. THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE WHICH YOU ARE SEVERELY LACKING. Thank You for the offer, but Im standing my ground. I also dont want you taking any more "HITS" on my behalf. I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor.

I originally gave this toy store a 3 but now we just cant shop here anymore. Their inventory hasnt improved. There are lots of crude products such as candy cigarettes and ones that (who-knows-whats-in-them) you are supposed to sneak into peoples glasses to induce problems in them for your own entertainment. Then if that wasnt enough they have a large dog running around the store unsupervised without a leash. Arent they aware that dogs are a top allergy and phobia? My child doesnt want to go there anymore because of it. A wolf relative that will revert to its instincts if you look into its eyes, run, cry, or make any kind of mistake children are prone to make is a reckless choice. Its very easy to get caught comparing prices and a child could easily be drawn to the train table. Everyone thinks their dog is nice. But even if it doesnt have instincts there are still other issues as noted above. Yes some eccentric stores have animals in them but youll rarely see more than a fishbowl. If theres a need for one most adults with such needs should either keep such an animal harnessed (though this doesnt solve all the legal liabilities), in their office, or at home if possible. We started comparing prices at TT to other stores that carried similar toys, and they were all less, and these werent big superstores (although I certainly would rather buy play-dough at Walmart which is a quarter of the price of TT). In fact even with our discount, Red Balloon, which is located in a mall which Im sure drives up the costs, had the same items for less, even the drive out there didnt equal out the cost, and to top it off they had a more magical selection of toys--far more classy. Blikenstaff, another toy store was amazing for finding the perfect toy. But Teton Toys? Turns out they not only have some lame plastic commercialized brands like Fisher Price that I thought they were above, and crude toys, but the best they get (minus Brio which is quality but costs an arm and a leg) is Melissa & Doug and Hape--which at first glance seem like quality toys, but they deteriorate fast and chip easily. M&D was even found to have lead in it. I can find solid wood toys online, so why buy these flimsy compressed wood toys? Since TT came to Lehi I found that bookstores and gift shops, even though they lack quantity, are more thoughtfully stocked. Please put more thought into your business or sell it to someone who will pour their heart and soul into reaching out to children.

Today I brought my grand kids to Teton Toys. I have shopped here several times and love it so much. They had a great time playing with the trains that are set up there for kids to play with. The selection of toys is HUGE--something for everyone. One of my favorite toys are the Melissa and Doug brand toys and I cant find them too many places. These toys foster old-fashioned creativity and fun. A few weeks ago I bought a tea set and miniature pots and pans for a little cupboard that my dad made me 45 years ago and now my grand kids play with it. A few days ago they had hours of fun pouring water from the pot to the teapot to the cups and even some on the floor. I just sat back and smiled. I also bought some Pick Up Sticks today--a simple game that was so fun for me when I was was their age. I cant wait to play with them. This is a one-stop-shop if you are looking for fun. I feel so lucky that they opened up shop in my city. Love the location. Love the selection. Love the service. 5 STARS!
