So I realize its a week before Christmas, but my stupid wrangler decided to break down, again, for the exact same thing that happened last year at about this time. They had it diagnosed the same day it was towed in,(5:00am) on Monday morning. I use my Jeep for work, I deliver mail, its how I make a living. They said they had to order the part in, a shifter cable, because apparently they dont keep that kind of stuff in stock. OK, fine, how long will it take, they didnt know because he wasnt sure about his staff. Okay, call me when its ready I said, knowing this week was already going to be hell because its December. Its now Friday, the day before Christmas Eve. Have they called with a status report, no. So I called, the part supposedly hadnt been ordered is what I was told first. He said he would get with the tech and call me back. He did, they never started working on my jeep, but he will try to get it done tomorrow, on Christmas Eve before they close. If I want to come by before they close at one in the afternoon, hopefully it will be ready. So I asked, frustrated now because I know they havent even ordered the part, do you know what I do for a living, he said you have a right hand drive Jeep, you deliver mail. (Genius) Its the day before Christmas Eve, theyve had it for five days and it hasnt been worked on. I will be out delivering mail and packages until God knows when on Christmas Eve, because thats what Ive been doing for the last sixteen years, and he wants me to stop in the middle of Christmas Eve to drive from Austin to San Marcos before one oclock, so I can pick up my vehicle that might or might not be ready, on Christmas Eve. Yea, sure, thats not even possible. Im in the market for a new vehicle, they were on my list, but this has definitely crossed them off the list for a dealership I would ever go to again for anything. The moment the new year kicks in, I will be selling their crap product and going to foreign dealer who has yet to let me down. Its funny, if you know for a fact its not going to be worked on until after the holidays, say so, because I will have more respect for honesty than BS. When Lyn finally decided to call that the Jeep was ready, he then says by way, you have two recalls and we noticed you need blah, blah, blah, would you like us take care of that? Wait, they had it for over a week sitting there not being worked on, and now they want to keep it longer, give me a break. TWO WEEKS LATER- The heater wasnt working when I got it back after it spent all that time at the dealership. So I took it to a different mechanic, one that was recommended. Knobs were knocked off their teeth inside console, and were left like that, the console put back in place, the knobs not working by the dealership. The mechanic asked where I took it that they would pull it out like then leave it, as if setting me up to have to take it back for more work. I told him the dealership. He said never go back to them again. This is a tactic sometimes done by dealerships to bring in more work. Break something so I have to go back to them. So, if you want to have your vehicle permanently in the the shop, then this is the place. Will never do business with again.

So first off, I would say dont take your vehicle here to be serviced. Like others, I wish I would have read the reviews before taking my vehicle here. There is obviously an issue with the way this place operates. The feeling I got from the folks at the front desk of the service department was, they get a lot of returning customers with complaints. A revolving door. I know that dealerships are more expensive but thought that the knowledge and experience with the maker of my vehicle would compensate for the price difference, I was wrong. I brought my vehicle in for an issue I was having with vibration from the front drivers side wheel. I believed it was a bad wheel bearing. This was self-diagnosed, to the best of my abilities, through some research and knowing a little about automobile repair. I knew that (for my vehicle) the front wheel bearings had to be pressed in, needing an expensive tool that I did not have. As well, my horn was not working and I know little to nothing about electrical repairs. It specifically states on paperwork (CUSTOMER STATES HEARS A WHOOP WHOOP NOISE FROM LEFT FRONT AT SLOWER SPEED) Three days after dropping my vehicle off I pay a $568 bill just to get in my vehicle and have the exact same issues going on. Hearing the exact same noise from when I brought the vehicle in, I exit the highway and head back to the dealership, where I end up talking to Brian who gets in the vehicle with me for a drive and he tells me "yes, it is your front driver side bearing that is bad but we replaced your rear driver side bearing because it was worse" Ok? The paperwork I got states "test drove after bearing replacement and notice CVT transmission noisy.” Obviously, no one test drove it afterward because it only took a matter of seconds for Brian to hear the bearing, also my horn was still not working. Brians excuse was that the mechanic working on my vehicle was an "older" gentleman. This was at the close of business so I told Brian I would return the following day. Im not the type of person to start a scene in a public place and gave Brian, Randall (who took my vehicle in), and Terry every chance to correct the situation. All I was told, was to bring the vehicle back in to be fixed when I had time. No estimate, no discount, no sorry for wasting your time, just “bring your vehicle back in when you have time and well fix it”. I should have never gotten my vehicle back in this condition, with the same issues I brought it in with. It should have been fixed the first time. I would have gladly paid for both bearings to be replaced while it was already in the shop. That didn’t happen though. I ended up being referred, by a friend, to a locally-owned mom-and-pop automotive repair establishment (all “older” mechanics) where they were friendly, fixed my vehicle in two days (including the horn) and for less than it cost me for just one drivers side rear wheel bearing replacement from this dealership. I’m currently deciding between either a Dodge or Chevy pickup, if I decide to go, Dodge, Ill have to make the trip to somewhere else to get it.

I own a repair facility that ran 1.2 million last year. We provide quality auto repair at a fair price to the general public and commercial businesses. When obtaining auto parts you have to buy from the vendors that give you the best price and service. Most auto parts can be obtained in its OE Form from other companies other than the dealer. This is done because the dealers are much more expensive on most items but not all items. So in order to make the job more affordable you have to buy parts from sources other than the dealers. Now in some cases there are parts that have to be purchased from the dealer. In some cases you have to pay a delivery charge to get those parts that are outside their delivery area and I have no problem with that. When I ordered parts from San Marcos Auto Outlet Nissan, the parts manager said we would have to pickup our parts because we had only spent 200.00 in the last year there. I called and talked to one of the managers there and he brought us our parts and also assured me that we would get deliveries in the future, So, I called and special ordered some more parts and when the parts arrived I was called and informed that the driver called in sick. When I got there to pickup the parts the driver actually greeted me at the counter. I came back and called the parts associate and told him his driver was there now and he stated that he knew that but that we did not spend enough with them to get the parts delivered again. When I told the parts associate that I had talked to the manager he told me that the manager did not run the parts dept. He also stated that he was not going to waste 20.00 to deliver 8.00 in parts. I think that was exaggerated a bit. 20.00 to deliver a part 8 miles ? That equates to 5.57 gals of fuel in 8 miles his vehicle is getting 1.44 miles per gallon. Who is taking care of that company vehicle ? I have never been told I had to go get my own parts because I did not spend enough money with them. I even went so far as to call my local competition (3 shops) and was informed that they never have a problem getting deliveries from them and they dont spend that much either. I have some customers that come here and all they ever get done is an oil change but I still bend over backwards and take them home, to work or school and also pick them up when their car is finished. Everyone in this industry knows that oil changes are a lost profit item and they don;t make you any money, Its those customers that tell their freinds how far you will go out of your way to make them happy. Its all about the customer service in my book no matter how little they spend with you. I will NEVER use San Marcos Auto Outlet again for any of our needs. I will drive to Austin and pickup parts before giving them another penny and I guarantee that it will not cost me 20.00 to drive there. Generally I dont have time to worry about things such as this but this treatment overwhelmed me. I will not do business with a place that does not want my business and I suggest you do a little research of your own on this company.
