My name is Joseph...Im a pro level rider with a $6000 carbon G.T. mountain bike. I went in today to have 3 spokes put on my rear rim from a tail whip I landed funny. The first words out of the guys mouth today was "umm. Hmm....idk...this may need some work...hmmm...let me look. Ill have to take the cassette off & the brake...hmmmm". Of course you do...thats how you put spokes on. Thats why I brought it to you. I dont have my tools with me or I would have done it. All I wanted was the 3 spokes & nipples replaced which I had already purchased from the store a few weeks before. My rim is not damaged. WTB sent me Team rims so they dont mess up. With my level of riding...I do not need someone to tell me whats wrong with my rims. Especially from someone who isnt a professional. I have been professionally riding since the age of 6 when I starting racing BMX at Castle Hills BMX in the 70s. It seems this store has gone down hill...and not on a bike! The last time before this I got half knowledgeable service. There was also only 1 person working in the whole shop today. The employee held the door open for a female customer...but not for me. In fact he stood at the door.lookong at me & when I got to the door he walked off. I will not be going back to this store or any Ride Away store in the future. I went to another shop on Blanco & my rim was done in 2 hours for $30! I guess I should expect this from a chain store. I will be sharing my experience with the other pro riders & people I teach. Also with the group I ride with here in San Antonio from Meet-Up.

I bought a seat post there three weeks ago for $20. They had the size I was looking for, which was great. The price wasnt much higher than it would have been on Amazon. I was pleased to find the part that I needed available locally. Unfortuately, the clamp never worked properly. After it was tightened to the torque specified on the post, it was fine for a couple of miles and then the seat would slip. I tried to return the defective seat post today and was told that I must have installed it improperly. Ive been working on my bikes for 20 years and I know how to put a seat post on. They refused to give me a refund or do anything about the problem. They wouldnt give me their corporate phone number either. So basically Im now stuck with a $20 totally useless piece of metal...I guess I can keep it to hit myself in the head if I ever think of going back there again. They should post a sign in the store that they wont replace defective parts unless theyve installed it themselves...if I had known they had a policy like that, I wouldnt have purchased anything from them.

Went in for a new bike helmet and the door hadnt even closed all the way and I got a big "Welcome to our bike shop!" I wasnt sure of the type and size of helmet I needed. The first one I picked out was $80 and the salesman said it just didnt look right. The next one was $45 and he said that one looked better on me. To top it off I was given a 10% discount on my purchase! WTF! He was more worried about making me happy and getting me into a safe comfortable helmet that looked good and it was the lesser priced one too! The only problem I came across during my visit was choosing from the large inventory! There are so many cool things to see here! Ive read other reviews about this shop being pricey and thats just not the case. I dont do many reviews but I had to say something about this place. Made me feel at home. Looks like I found a great bike shop and I will be back!

We went by on a Saturday afternoon because my sons bicycle tire had a flat. They were able to do the service while we waited (about 15 minutes) for 5.99 plus the cost of the replacement tube, so we were out the door for under $12. By comparison, I called another bike shop in Leon Valley and was told it would be at least $20 and that they wouldnt have it ready until the next day! The staff was courteous and attentive to detail. While the tire was being changed another worker walked by and looked at my sons bike, noticing that part of the frame was installed incorrectly. He made the quick adjustment at no charge and my son says his bike is riding much smoother because of it! Overall, I highly recommend their service. We are happy and will go back if we need more service to our bikes.

The staff is definitely friendly but what made me give them 3 stars versus 4 or 5 was that when i came in to buy tubes, they said i can use slightly smaller tubes since they didnt have the ones i needed in stock and they said it was perfectly fine. i had a hard time getting my old tubes out since my bike is a foreign bike so i brought it in for them to do, along with the tubes purchased from that previous visit. the tech said that he could do it, but they would puncture easily and the tubes i needed were...guess what: not in stock, but they would order it for me from their huebner store and should be here by Tuesday this past week. Its Saturday and still no phone call. And why did i get conflicting info from the techs?

It is not too often I will write a review but on this occasion visiting this store for the first time was very disappointing. I was there with my family asking for brake levers, told me where they were and that was it. My problem was one, they werent in the place the associate said they were. And two, the other place they were was behind the service counter! I was there for a good 10 minutes obviously needing some assistance...NOTHING! So I figured I would return the favor and go out with NOTHING! And what troubles me was it was just me and my family there no other customers.

Went there to get my wheel replaced with 2 spokes only, but they relaced my whole wheel with new spokes without calling me which they over charged me. (even though I gave them my number just in case there was gonna be some overcharging). I had the right spokes because rad rides bicycle shop gave me the right size spokes. Other than that Ride Away bikes didnt bother taking off my old spokes(even though they were in still in good condition). Instead they just cut off all 36 spokes which is $36 right there. Dont trust them

Bob, the service mgr is rude, inconsiderate, and an a--. Ive had the misfortune of interacting with him twice, and both times he essentially accused me of stealing from the shop. His arrogant attitude has driven this enthusiast away from this store forever. Every other employee Ive interacted with has been great! But I will never spend another penny at Ride Away Bikes because of Bobs crappy attitude and arrogance. BTW, I ride high end bikes and from brick and mortar stores as often as possible.
