UPDATED ON 8/6/11. CHANGED FROM 5 STARS TO 2 STARS, SEE UPDATE BELOW!! Initially I started going to another bike shop because I was nervous about the bad reviews that Planet Bike received. After the other bike shop decided to close on Saturdays I decided I would try Planet Bike because my back tire frame needed to be trued and I needed new brakes. I scoped the place out when I went to buy the brakes and while I was there I told Carlos, the manager, that I might need my back tire frame repaired. I also mentioned that I ride my bike to work most days and he was really happy to hear that I actually use my bike, and he showed me a printout of the mission of Planet Bike. I was impressed with the mission and how he seemed to really care about biking. So I brought my bike to get repaired and initially talked to another worker while Carlos was helping another customer. The worker said he thought I would need a new frame and took my info. When Carlos finished with the other customer, he came over to look at the bike. He said he could straighten it out and I wouldnt need to buy a new frame. The turnaround time was very quick, about 24 hours, and when I got back I mentioned that I had just moved from Utah and and had lived in Oregon and California. We talked about some of those states and his favorite places to bike there. He was very friendly and the total cost to fix my bike and install the brakes for less than $20. Carlos was very nice and won my business. Ill be back for future bike repairs and purchases. ***************Update (8/6/2011): I took my bike in for a tune up this week ($100) and when I went to pick up my bike they had replaced the right shifter. I wasnt surprised to learn that it had to be replaced, it was having issues, but I just thought it was just a derailer issue. But I was shocked that the first thing that Carlos said was "Oh no, didnt anyone call you?" He then went on to explain that he would give me a deal on the part, but I found the exact same part online for a few dollars cheaper than his "deal." I felt very vulnerable and extremely taken advantage of. He either should have given me an actual deal or called me before he put it on and I would have been fine. Unfortunately he has lost my trust and Ill be trying a new bike shop next time. Im also changing my rating from 5 stars to 2.

HORRIBLE! I came here because my gears kept shifting on its own. A friend of mine who worked in the bike industry told me it sounded like I needed a small derailler adjustment and it wouldnt take but two seconds to do. So I called and told them I did not buy the bike from them, that it was a Mongoose I had bought from Walmart (its a decent bike to ride paved trails with and pull my son in his trailer) the guy on the phone said bring it in. So I brang it in and the guy who helped me was a total d-bag!! (Not the same guy I talked to on the phone) He told me he could not do it they were swamped meanwhile there was only 1 customer and 3 or 4 employees not doing anything. I told him my friend said it would take a quick second to do. He said no I could leave my back and have it back by Monday or bring it back Monday and it would have to stay over night. Then he was like with a snotty look on his face how much did you even pay for this bike. I was appalled... REALLLY!!! Do I have to spend 5grand to pull my son in his trail on the pave O.P Schnabel Park. Is my bike that was only a week old not good enough to touch and look to see if its a quick fix really. I said nevermind Ill go somewhere else and left. I called Ride Away Bikes on 1604 and Culebra and they told me that they were 3days behind also, but I could bring the bike in and if it was a small derailler adjustment they could do it real quick for me but if it was something else they would be able to tell me then they would have to keep it. So I took it to them and he looked at my bike and in seriously 1min he fixed it because all it needed was a small derailler adjustment. So if the d-bag at Planet bike would have done what I asked they would have got my business and my money and a great review like I am about to leave for Ride Away Bikes. I wouldnt bother going here my friend was right he said ppl who sale most Rode Bikes look at you like your trash if you dont have one. Sorry Im not fancy huh! LOL

WARNING. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! I read some really bad reviews on Google reviews; should have taken the bike elsewhere. In any case, do NOT take your bike here! Brought in my Specialized Eduro S-works carbon fiber mountain bike just to have the front disc brakes bled and adjusted. Got a call the next day. They wanted to change out the entire front brake setup; the caliper and the hand control. Yes, you CAN buy just the caliper or just the hand control; unlike what I was told. $150 for a MUCH lower quality setup is what I was quoted. And they said if I wanted the same exact Avid brakes, it would be something like $700!!!???? LOL I found the EXACT brake setup; both the caliper and the hand control that I have on the bike now, brand new online for $100. $30.00 for a bleed kit and 30 minutes later, DONE. Just a ripoff; trying to sell you things you dont need! Taking it to a REPUTABLE shop for any major repairs. Just thought Id try to give business to a small, local bike shop. But when I get treated like that, Ill pass. Youve been warned.

This place sucks!!!!!! They have the wrong people working there. The bike tech can bearly speak english and does not know what hes doing. I took my bike in for adjusment on my gears and the bike came out worse than b4! I took it back in and one of the guys told me maybe I should buy a different bike! Their job is to fix bikes not tell customers to buy a new bike because they do not know how to work on bikes. The second time I took it in I just gave up and considered the money spent a loss. If they cant fix the problem they should tell you instead of charging you for not fixing any thing. Come to find out when I took it to another shop, the work they did ruined the shifters on the bike and had to buy new shifters for the bike! I recommend to take your bike any where but here to get it fixed. If you do go there ask to talk to the tech see if you can understand him. Then youll see whos really working on your bike. And ask them to warranty the work they do on your bike! Go any where but here!!!!!
