Me and my wife went in , and noticed a very small selection, if any at all loose diamonds and very slow service and didnt seem to have the knowledge we noticed on or bridal and diamonds search . I heard from others a lot of there jewelry 65 % is resold from the gold buying they do, So Caution , they will tell you its new when really its been bought in the gold buying area ? My friend was told its a brand new ring when it wasnt , as we found out through another customer in the store then employee muddled his words but by then we knew .I didnt see much knowledge and told wrongly about diamonds we brought to sale also, ( some rude older gentleman whos said hes in charge of the store and the manager ) , who talked on and on , but sure didnt know his industry or about diamonds , as he bragged he did. We took our product to another place and it was a totally different and much more honest view , and quote, then what Houston Jewelrys buyer said it was ? Being told a new product and its used isnt good practice or ethical , and no selection of diamonds or knowledge should tell you something , much less there know it all attitude which in reality is very off ! Caution ...Heard this from few of our friends this same story but was told there more gold buyers then quality jewelry for sale ???????????????????????

Horrible customer service, I was quoted a price for some jewelry I was selling, I told them I would very likely be back shortly, I wanted to see if I could get a better price at a few other shops. I walk back in an hour later, and the gentleman who had tested the items, and quoted me a price was gone, the woman that waited on me said she would have to start over, though she spoke to the gentleman over the phone. She proceeds to degrade my pieces, and tells me the original quote was now null and void- she said my pieces were not the karat weight the first associate had determined and that she would not honor his findings or quote. Needless to say, I walked out and proceeded to Wrights Jewelry and Loan, where I had received the same quote- I got the same amount of money that both had once quoted me. You can count Shaws Jewelry and loan as well- they gave the same 1K also- So, apparently two other highly, reputable establishments dont know as much as the pompous woman who acts like the boss of Houston Jewelry. Horrible - unprofessional- insulting.

After shopping around my fiance now husband got me the most gorgeous ring at Houston Jewelry. That was 10 years ago. Today Houston Jewelry is my go to store for jewelry, watches and gifts.Ten years later I bought my hubby a Presential Rolex there and he is thrilled with it. I was suprised to learn recently they where buying gold. I had gone to several places to get rid of my drawer full of old gold (for cash to buy more) haha, and to tell the truth I felt as if I was getting ripped off, a few places I felt uncomfortable and the surroundings where also sketchy. My husband commeneted that we should go back to HJ and we did. We got the best price for our old gold and left with another goodie for me. I have to say that the staff and family who run it as well as the quality are the reasons I keep going back. The Solomon family are extremely honest and I tell everyone I know to shop there! Its has the feel of a family business but with the selection of a major retailer. Tina F Houston, TX

I recently visited this establishment within the past month, I was looking for some colored emeralds and diamonds. I was told that black diamonds dont exist in anything near 1 carat. The sales person first showed designer jeweler with black diamond less than 0.1 carats. I was there for engagement rings. Then after declining, she called a wholesaler who told her "good luck" and she chuckled as she echoed the suppliers words. I had previously went two other jewelers that said I could have 1 or more carats easily, so why would they say such nonsense? I have been here once before my last visit and I decided to return only because it was so long ago. Businesses change and so do the personnel but this place is archaic, gloomy, aloof, and ignorant. I will go back only to show them my purchase and enlighten them to their errors. OH, yea the prices are astronomically outrageous too.

I attempted to purchase an engagement ring, and I was scammed. First, I was told the ring was $4,000, but if purchased the same day, I could get it for $3,000. The ring was a 1 karat diamond ring. I put $700 down the same day. One week later I found a 2 karat diamond ring from a different jeweler for less. I called the store to cancel my order, but I was told all sales are Final (no refund.) they offered a store credit which must be used within 30 days. I visited the store to pick out something for $700, but theres nothing in the store worth having for $700. The sales associate checked the system and there was no trace of my $700. I was told I NEVER paid, until I pulled out my receipts. They then acknowledged I did pay, but still refused to give me my money back. All I am asking for is a refund.

My girlfriend & I drove down from Huntsville to sell gold jewelry that has been in a safety deposit box for years. My first concern was safety. There is no reason to fear the parking lot. There is an HPD officer on duty. This is a very safe environment to do personal business. I feel that I was treated very fairly & with respect. I was welcomed & the process was explained to me as Richard was assessing my jewelry. I was very pleased with the amount Richard gave me. If anyone is thinking about selling their gold, I highly recommend Houston Jewelry for honesty, safety, & the bottom line on what you will receive. Thanks to Richard at Houston Jewelry. This will be published under my husbands name but Im Susan & this is all about women being treated fairly.

I shopped at Houston Jewelry years ago and loved their selection of jewelry and watches. I left Houston but just recently moved back after a messy divorce. I saw one of their commercials for gold and went over. What can I say, these people are the BEST! They offered me 3 times what other pawn shops and 2 other jewelers down the street had offered me for my old gold bands, and other items. They where so professional and I want to tell everyone this is the place to buy your jewelry or sell your gold. This is a family business and they are the defination of integrity and honesty! My wife and I stumbled upon Houston Jewelry while we were waiting for our vehicles to be serviced at the Firestone across the parking lot. We walked in and met a older salesman who was a perfect in helping my very picky wife out in selecting diamond earrings. I noticed the huge selection of watches and decided to buy myself a new watch while my wife was spending and spending...LOL Overall a quality experience there and will continue to visit once a month....I promise my wife new jewelry if she takes her boxes of old gold to them......... Will be back soon. Samantha and Tim
