Short story: This shop rocks - 1st class customer service and reasonable prices on tires and accessories. I didnt buy a bike here, but they do have plenty of selection. Location is in a house next to med center. dont miss it! LONG STORY (as I put on my yelp): This local bike shop ROCKS! (5 stars cuz this is as good as it gets, unless another bike shop proves me wrong). With that said, Im a man of 1st impressions and this place definitely "rides" the distance in providing FIRST CLASS customer satisfaction and service. Background: I have a commuter bike needed for rides to and from school. The tires were shot to hell so I needed replacements. An employee or owner, John, directed me to their selection of road bike tires, identifying pros/cons to each brand or make. There was no pressure from John to buy the more expensive tires or anything else I asked about for that matter. He just helped me make an informed decision in my selection, and thats all I really ask for in any shopping experience. Again, GREAT SERVICE. John also showed me how to change the tires and check the tubes - he didnt have to, but I asked and he took the time to. GREAT SERVICE again. John was also knowledgeable about lights and other bike issues I asked about, and showed me each product in every price range. Cant seem to say it enough....GREAT SERVICE. I could go on and on about how great John and this shop was, but I got an itch to try out my new wheels. $: last thing if youre interested, pricing was very reasonable. I had done my due diligence in researching tire and bike light prices and this place will NOT rip you off. In the end, COME HERE FOR ANYTHING BIKES. screw Amazon, big box dealers and online sources for once and come meet some great people at this great local shop with great pricing. My test is always "Would i tell my favorite grandma to come here (if she knew how to ride a bike)" and I answer with a "hell ya".

A bike museum. It is a house on a residential street that got so many bikes they opened a business. You can do that in Houston. This is not a bad thing. Especially for old parts. If you know what youre looking for, you can probably find it at Boones. The consignment sales is very good as well. They offer the latest high tech stuff as well. There is no junk there, everything is choice. You will see they choose the highest quality bikes they they can expect to sell to the general public, and a choice selection of frames for the athletes. If you take any interest in cycling develpoment and history, and you want to see the bikes, you will learn how special Boones is. You will see bicycles spanning 100 years; and some employees as well. Or are they residents? Not sure. But they know bicycles. If you have a classic or special bicycle you dont ride, consider donating it to Boone Bicycle museum. It will have a happy home there.

Best bike shop in town. Very knowledgeable staff of racers and riders. Need a cool cruiser to tool around town on? They have new and vintage rides for you. Want to start racing? They have all the gear and experience to ease you into the sport. Experienced racer looking to upgrade? De Rosa, Colnago, Bianchi, and Specialized hang from almost every wall. If you raced 10, 20, even 30 or more years ago, walking into this store will instantly bring you back! From the very first titanium and carbon fiber frames to the first Stump jumpers. Posters and jerseys from every era hang throughout. There is no arrogance just confidence and experience with no pushy sales tactics. I hope to see The Houston Bicycle Museum up and running soon. She has hundreds of bikes that arent even on display I hope to see some day. She has out only the most iconic classics bikes now. Most of them labeled with the bike model and makers history.

First off, most of other reviews posted here are fake as pointed out by one more guy here. This has to be my worst experience at any shop in Houston yet! These people are racist and completely lack professionalism. I was quoted a total of $17($12 for both brakes +$5 for the wire replacement) for both my brakes adjustments along with a change of wire In the front wheel to which I agreed. I had confirmed the pricing several times before proceeding with the repair, but once they fixed my bike, I was charged $32 saying that the price quoted for fixing the brake was for just one brake and for fixing both brakes, it would be $24. And when I tried to put my point explaining what I was quoted, I was literally pushed out of the store saying "the conversation is over". I would not suggest this store to anyone.

read these reviews several weeks ago, pretty much formed an opinon based the comments. have been shopping for a new bike for several weeks. i live out in the country, so any bike shop is a road trip. been to 3-4 bike shops in the south houston clear lake area. for the most part everybody was trying to sell me what they had in stock, not what was right for me. on my trip back into houston for more searching on a saturday afternoon. stopped by boone with low expectations. they guy knew his stuff, spent the time with me, and i left with a bike that i really enjoy.didnt notice any arogance, but ill take a little arogance over ignorance any day of the week.

These reviews are fake. I came in three times in the last month for the same problem on the same wheel. Each time Id get a flat tire within hours of leaving the shop. Everyone I talked to about this problem tell me the store is taking advantage of me being a return customer and are purposely not fixing the actual problem. "Nice" staff but not at all trustworthy. I had my back tire fixed at a cheaper bike shop near downtown, and still no problems with it till this day. I would assume after 3 tries they would have fixed the problem, especially considering how overpriced they are.

first of all, it might be hard to spot. it is a converted house, and still looks like a house ( you enter through the driveway ) look for the black and white sign "BOONES". as of 2007, it was across the street from a large construction site. the staff were very nice and conversational. my bike got its work done a few days later than they quoted, said a part was coming in. when i got it back, everything was done as advertised, and i dont have any complaints. prices fair. they also sell bikes, parts, etc.

Absolutely loved this place. I had to circle around the first time I arrived here as I could not figure out where to park. Park right out front by the curb along the street, just dont block the driveway. Service inside was wonderful. They changed my flat; installed new pedals, and minor tuned my brakes in minutes. This was my first time at a bike shop and I will be back for all my needs. No pressure, no attitudes, no mark-ups in prices. Good honest service, fair and plain! Thanks!

I walked in and stated that my wife and I wanted a road bike in the 800-900 range. Of course this is not a super high end bike, but it is entry level bikes for entry level bikers. In total for both bikes and a rack and gear we would be spending over 2k at the shop. The sales person gave a nice dose of elitist attitude at the range of bikes that we were looking at. Go to West End bikes. Boone gets two stars simply because they did have nice equipment.
