GO TO MIDWEST CYLERY! Worst experience Ive ever had in a bike shop was at Volker. Ive spent over $5,000 on my three bikes including a FeltB12. I walk in, and Im completely ignored. I ask questions, and I get the shortest answer possible. Im 54 and they watch me struggle to get a bike for my daughter while Im also trying to hold her. After that Im looking around and the two sales associates wont even move so I can look at the rest of their inventory. Good to know others had the same experience, because at this point I start to wonder if Im being treated this way because Im black, or is it because Im fat. Turns out theyre just assholes... So I left and spent over $150 at Midwest Cyclery. They were very helpful, and had great sales.

I had a very similar experience to Pinky. Crappy shop that is a HUGE mess. All i wanted was chain lube. Two workers were there, i walked around their messy shop for 10 minutes looking for lube, no one said a word to me. After 10 minutes and being frustrated, i finally asked. There were a few bottles of lube on the ground in the corner, a few in a case and random ones scattered throughout the shop. He acted like i was silly for wanting a wax based lube (i use t-9 normally), and told me to use this other stuff. I cant stress how much of a mess this shop was. Piles of crap every where. Bikes they were trying to sell we all leaning on each other in one pile with their bikes mixed in. Terrible shop, not worth a look

I just moved to KC and after checking out a few shops, received a recommendation from a local trail builder to check out Volker. Britton and the staff are very friendly, and will help steer you in the right direction. Everything I could ask for in a bike shop. Reasonable prices, good people, and they remember me on subsequent visits. On my last visit I needed a bike box to ship a bike, and rather than make me take a broken down box from the alley, they quickly pulled out an unassembled bike and removed it and even confirmed what type of bike I was shipping to help confirm it would fit in the box. Very much appreciated. Their prices are more than reasonable and their selection is surprisingly good for a small shop.

Unlike most of the bike shops in this area, Britton (owner?) is always willing to get you a great deal whether youre spending $10 or $2000. He might not be the most approachable bike shop owner, but he does give you straight and honest answers to your questions. One of the first bike shops that got me off of buying on the internet. Support local shops yall. The mechanics arent the typical cycling shop mechanics either. You wont get the bike snobbery (though you will most likely get suggestions).

Volker Bikes has been my local bike shop for years and Ive purchased my last four bikes from Britton. He actually keep bike components and clothing in stock (a lot of shops dont anymore). If he doesnt have the part I need he can usually order it and have it at the shop in about a week. Support your local bike shop and stop buying bike accessories on Amazon. Amazon wont stay open late to fix your bike so you can bike to work tomorrow.

Ive switched to Volker from my bikes brand name shop...Britton & Zack are amazing..knowledgeable, efficient...very reasonably priced. Theyre very busy because of their skills & value...it might take 5 or minutes to get their attention...so what? You get honest value...and, theyve never tried to pressure up-sell me..they give me options. Never trust a skinny chef, and never trust a sterile mechanic. These guys rock!

so it may not appeal to some JC cupcakes. Britton knows his stuff and does a proper job for his customers. The shops stock and expertise supports all kinds of cycling-needs including touring and cross. Their Crossroads location is particularly welcome after Acmes closing. Some may prefer Walmart and the bike-shop equivalent of fast-food but that group includes very few, if any, serious riders.

Good selection and prices, but could be a bit more approachable. Got the feeling I was not really welcome because I wasnt a regular. Got a tuneup for my bike only for my tire to be flat by the time I got home due to old and warped liner tape. Felt like that was something that they shouldve checked in the tuneup. Instead it cost me more to get fixed. Go to Midwest, more friendly and thorough.

The most pretentious pricks work there. The moment you walk in, youre going to be ignored. When you do finally get someone to acknowledge you, they make no attempt to hide their utter distain for you wasting their precious time with any amount of pedestrian questions. The first time, I thought it a fluke. The second time, I learned my lesson. Never again.

In a word, pro. Very knowledable, personable, approachable staff. Stuffs everywhere so its fun to poke around and the prices are good. For example, the luxury suites of a Royals game are nice but feel sterile (no longer feels like a rowdy ball game), this store is more like the ball park. Visit, it will feel like you left the country for a bit.

Very unorganized. I felt like I was trying to walk through my grandpas garage over piles of stuff in boxes. The staff wasnt unfriendly, but not too nice either. They barely said a word to me and seemed annoyed if I asked a question. Not the hip bike store Im used to and unfortunately I will not recommend.

Id been looking for a MTB for a while now and Britton had a bunch of suggestions for me. When the time came for me to purchase, it was he made the transaction painless and simple. I also needed the bike quickly, so he got it built up the very next day! Super great service. Love this bike shop!

Mechanic fixed my bike very quickly despite me walking in while the shop was slammed. He was super friendly and even suggested places around the city to ride and view the skyline. Great people, will absolutely return! I wish they had some of those cool Volker (KC) shirts in medium!

Best bike shop in KC. Period. It may yake some work to get some help if you have never been in before but these dudes hook it up and do amazing work. Not really for the weekend warrior but if you are a regular biker you will def appreciate what they have going on.

Britton does a great job taking care of his customers and is very attentive to their needs. Volker has a great selection of bikes unlike most shops in the city, and I always enjoy going in there to check out all the cool new gear.

Fantastic deals and great, down to earth feedback on everything bike related. Always a friendly person willing to help out and they wont nickel and dime you like bigger, more commercial shops.

I had a very positive experience here. Staff went out of their way to help. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly. 10/10 would hang out with these fools.
