I have never been so dehumanized, isolated and de-individualized with acts of hate in my life than what I experienced today taking in several of my antiques and oil paintings to sell at the Assistant League. All high end items. I was soon surrounded by not only rude and condescending women, but their snobbishness soon became outright bigotry. They challenged everything I said. Even resorting to using the dictionary to counter attack that porcelain French Limoges items were only ceramic and NOT porcelain. Regardless that I am a professional mold maker and my medium is porcelains (NOT ceramic) and I have sold my porcelain art around the world and in-fact have scoured the world for the finest porcelain I could find to make my art; in their weird opinion I and all of France for over 200 years were wrong. The Limoges was a ceramic. They disdainfully would hand me my items and demand I clean them - they had a speck of dust on them or one of the ladies put a finger smudge on them. My Limoges became badly chipped in their riffling of my items and they refused to take responsibility for this. Any price I put on my pieces - 1800’s oil paintings, rare china pieces and more, were disdainfully reputed and a demand for a lower price was leveled at my stunned gaze. Now I know I have seen chipped and bent items on the floor for sale (I saw such items today!) and I would hope those consignees were not treated to the abuse I was sustaining for items that were (and one that had been) in perfectly good shape. And then came my large, beautiful bronze antique holy water holder with Jesus. WE do not have items like this in our store!! OK, forget the fact they have several Japanese and Indian religious items, Islam and more. It was Jesus that bothered them. That’s when I had had enough and I told them so. The store manager handed me Jesus, shrugged her shoulders and said, “I don’t care”. Well, I do care and I am completely offended. I as a Christian am deeply offended. I have the same rights as everyone else in the world and my experience at this store was uncalled for, unprofessional and dangerous at best. Dangerous in the fact that a group of people could gather and bully one person because they thought they could. This is not the first time I have had disappointing issues with the conduct of the personnel and volunteers at the Assistant League. I have had them damage my furniture, package the wrong item in the apparent hopes I would not notice until I got home, and send my consigned items home to be used for a birthday party and then returned - without my consent. And they are always ALWAYS rude to me. Unless you enjoy being around apparent sociopaths, stay away from here! My experience is that they collectively enjoy being unkind.

LOVE this shop!! It is always just packed with myriad things to look at! Love their pricing schedule, where the price of an item comes down at scheduled intervals. Items are well-organized and grouped: glass and crystal in one room, clothing in another, etc. I always find at least one treasure when I shop here. And the best part: ALL PROCEEDS go directly back into the community to benefit school children in need, and other great philanthropies! This shop is run by the Assistance League of Salem-Keizer, and is staffed exclusively by volunteers. (That means all the money spent here gets funneled straight to local people in need!) Amazing people, wonderful organization. SO worth your time to come check out this treasure of a shop!

2004 became a volunteer to a hidden treasure in Salem, Oregon. Assistance league raises surplus for 9 philanthropic programs in Salem-Kiezer. Shopping at 2 consignment shops Daue house and Encore Furniture is a treat. You can support 6 days a week with a treasure! Happiness all around.

I have been both consigning and buying for 20 years now. I have had nothing but good experiences on both. The store is always very clean, organized, and very appealing to the eye! I hope to continue doing business for 20 more.

Love this place! I like that the longer an items been there the cheaper the price gets. So if something good has been looked over you might get it for a great price.
