I really wanted to like this shop. After all its only blocks from my house. Unfortunately, Ive had multiple bad experiences trying to do business here. First off commissioned sales makes for a creepy bike shopping experience, but its tolerable. Ive had really nice people and really rude sales people there. All are up selling me or telling me that what I want is not isnt a good idea. I dont want to get stuck there, I could go on with details but want to get to the asstards in the service department. Ive had two flats fixed by them in two weeks(same wheel). First guys told me to get new tires and then left glass in the tire after the repair. Right back a week later to fix flat. I told them I was getting new tires for Christmas and was told by the service guys "you dont need new new tires, theses are fine. " One and a half rides later-flat. This is after asking for a quote on a flat bar conversion a month earlier. I was told, by same tech it would cost at least $250 and I should just sell the bike and buy new one for approximately $1000. I took my bike elsewhere and had the conversion done for under $200 by nice guys who enjoyed doing the job. Of course when tech saw this conversion he mocked the parts and job that was done. These people sell and work on bicycles, they are not a Mercedes dealership. Bottom line if you dont mind being talked down to, or treated like youve never riden a bike. Then this is your shop. Ill never go back.

Took my Nexus 8 Hub in for servicing. Left my bike for a week. Got on to ride it and had no gears. Noticed cable was completely loose and parts flopping around. Guess they never bothered to make sure it was working before they took my money and sent me out into the traffic. Took it back and the service manager Pete Zlatnik realized he had installed one of the components upside down...... Rode it again and have a super loud clicking sound that wasnt present before. The internet tells me theyre not supposed to make this noise. Took it in for the third time and the service manager Pete Zlatnik whom had done the work each time just said, "yeahhhhh" to everything I said about the research I had done online and tried to show me a brand new bike making the same sound but it did not. He said that it would sound different after being serviced. He never bothered to mention that he had put the parts on backwards the first time. He just kept saying, "yeahhhhh" and then just walked away and snobbily made it apparent that I was wasting his time. I told him thanks and he said, "youre welcome" in a very condescending way. Im not a bike mechanic and I was trying to rationally solve this problem and he treated me like a total dick.

This bike store has been wonderful in keeping my old Novara Metro in good repair for many years. When I decided to get a new, lighter bike, Andrew was incredibly helpful. For a while, I had been researching suitable hybrids. There are always tradeoffs, and I thought that the Gary Fischer KaiTai was one bike with just the right mix for my road and trail riding. At Bike Gallery, I rode it and felt that I was leaning too far forward in comparison to my Novara. Andrew made a very minor adjustment to the stem height, and it was much better. Then he helped me get a fit appointment with Joanna. She was great in setting me up with toe clips, and making further adjustments. I have been riding the bike around, and so far it is delightful!! Before buying my bike at Bike Gallery I visited River City to check out some bikes, and was ignored. I waited there for nearly an hour for someone to help me, and got the impression that if you are over 50, they cannot be bothered with you. Also, River City was charging $40 more than I paid for my bike at Bike Gallery. Bike Gallery at NE Sandy has a very professional, knowledgable staff. Their service is excellent, and the prices are fair.

I specifically chose to pass several other Bike Galleries and other shops on to get across town to this specific store, having read great things about their service, and several not so terrific stories about other places. Well I have to say it was well worth the trip! I went in with a specific bike in mind and was shown similar styles to check out while they checked if they could get one in the right size I asked about, but by the time they knew which stores had them, I had fallen in love with another bike. There was never any pressure, in fact the bike I ended up with was less expensive than I was initially looking at spending. I hate constantly being upsold in other stores, but this was just an amazing experience. I recommend you go to this specific location! They are so helpful, friendly and have a great selection of everything!

I dont want to dog on this place too hard - there are some nice folks that work at the Bike Gallery - but their service department didnt give me the best impression. Had a faulty 3spd hub on a basically new bike (albeit fairly cheap). Was told it should be covered under warranty, "drop it off and well take care of it". I guess by "take care of it" they meant $150 for labor and a new rear tire. The thing is, the rear tire was fine when I dropped it off (less than 50 miles on it). And a brand new wheel with a 3 speed hub is only $85 online. I kind of felt like they were trying to rip me off. Or maybe they get some kind of commission on exorbitant repair costs? I let them know that Id simply take care of the repairs myself, given the cost, but I still havent heard back. Ill update the review when I do.

Very happy with the service here. I brought in my bike because the brake pads were almost completely shot (Ive been using my feet to stop while commuting to and from work the past few days), and because my lock was so rusted it broke my key while it was still attached to the bike. My bike is in pretty bad condition overall, They put in new brake pads and cut off the lock, as well as shortened the brake cable housing (it was too long because the original owner had replaced the handlebars). They saw my rear axle was bent, and it broke when they tried to straighten it. They replaced the axle at no extra cost! Im impressed that even though my bike ended up being more trouble than expected, they didnt charge more than the quote they originally gave me.

The bike mechanics at this location are the only ones I trust to work on my bike. I recently bought a Trek mountain bike, and had an issue with my cassette hub. They quickly diagnosed it, ordeded a new hub, put it in, no charge, no problem. Works just fine. Also, just today I took my bike back in because I heard a creaking sound coming from my stem/headset. I left it with them for a short time. Again, quickly diagnosed, took it apart, greased it, no charge, rides like new! The mechanics, and sales people take the time and listen, solve minor and major problems, and also offer advice for maintaining your bike so itll run smoothly. Its like having your own personal bike mechanics...thanks guys!! Much appreciated!!
