Catering primarily to Chinese and East Asian immigrants, Cleveland Asia Market (C.A.M) is your typical neighborhood ethnic grocery store on steroids: within the sprawling complex (a converted Toys-R-Us store), conveniently located right off of I-480, can be found an amazing selection of products. The widest selection - and best deals - are of dried and canned goods, including rice, noodles, sauces, condiments, dried fish, and preserved vegetables (including what is likely the largest stash of pickled spicy radish you will ever spot outside of Chengdu). Unique among Asian grocery stores in Cleveland, C.A.M. has a small “European” section that features an eclectic mix of Russian goods ranging from snacks to sausages to jams to beverages (I highly recommend the fermented kvas if you’re feeling adventurous, but the Baikal brand mineral water and Tsar Nicholas II tea are also good). There’s even a small bubble tea and potato pancake bodega in the lobby so patrons can nosh while they shop! Despite the various attractions, there are some downsides to C.A.M.: the produce is overpriced, as are the frozen foods and the (very limited) selection of baked goods in the lobby. Additionally, C.A.M. does not have a particularly wide selection of kitchen supplies or bulk foods – for those items I prefer visiting Park to Shop in Cleveland’s Chinatown district. Despite these shortcomings, if you’re having trouble finding a specialty East Asian food item elsewhere in town, it will most likely be at C.A.M.

KrayZJoy

This is the only place we know for genuine Asian groceries. I, my husband, and our friends have been particular about finding things such as pocky, ramune, sushi nori, sticky rice, gyoza wrapers, and gyoza. More and more stores offer some of these things. FYE and sometimes Spencers, Hot Topic, or Five Below will offer ramune (a really unique Japanese soda served in a cool glass bottle with a marble stopper -- youre cool if you know how to open it) and pocky (a fun Japanese snack that is a cookie shaped like a pretzel stick and dipped in various flavors of yogurt a lot like a chocolate-dipped pretzel. The stick is sweet and not savory and the yogurt flavors can be green tea, strawberry, chocolate, or hazelnut {these are typical flavors}. There is usually one flavor per box.) For awhile, Giant Eagle offered pocky, gyoza wrappers, and sushi nori (roasted seaweed paper used in making sushi rolls and wraps), but now, I cant find these things there. I can only find them at CAM.

Pretty good asian store, but could use improvement The selection here is large. Youll find pretty much anything you need. Small parts of the store (dried fruit for example), though, lack a variety you would find at another asian store (not quantity, though). The prices are very good too. Most items are usually reasonably priced. Plus, any name brand items are heavily discounted when compared to other grocery stores. This store tries to be like regular grocery stores, but cant. Like most asian stores, theres that seemingly unavoidable "fish smell". The store isnt as clean as it could be either. I also should mention the constant lack of open cash registers. When the lines are long, expect long wait times.

Albert Shiu

This store has a wide variety of Asian grocery selections. Fresh vegetables. meat, and seafood look good and reasonably priced. Frozen seafood counter is my favorite place where oysters, fish, squids, clams, shrimps, crab, mussels, octopus are abound. The frozen meat sections are well-stocked with hard to find items such as beef tongues and beef tendons. The stores premises are clean, and the workers are polite and helpful. Its location is conveniently located just off the Interstate highway. Parking is never a problem. These are the reasons that I shop here.

Patchwerk Honey

I love when it comes time for me to pay a visit here. They offer so many staples you just cannot find elsewhere and the service is always polite, friendly, and quick. The vegetable selection is marvelous as well as their little bakery area loaded with plenty of interested baked goods and mochi. Fresh udon, konnyaku, shirataki, ramen, soba choices and a million different pantry staples as well as amazing cookware. Highly recommend and be sure to take a stroll through the rest of the plaza as well. Its a great afternoon adventure!

University Circle Educators

CAM has Asian ingredients that youve only read about in cookbooks. The have live fish, fresh fish, frozen fish and dried fish. Fresh Asian vegetables, besides fresh (very fresh) usual offerings are available. There varities of Tofu, exotic canned fruits and veggies, and a huge Eastern European selection selection. There is always some ready-to-eat Asian food treats: Try the Japanese Squid! Just go see for yourself; and everybody who works there is Super friendly no matter who you are!

A great place for asian ingredients. Canned goods and sauces by the thousand but also a selection of fresh asian fruits and vegetables and a very affordable butcher and fish market. This is not a little corner store it is a real grocery store. The staff are a great help at finding things--Many products are not in English. This is authentic--not americanized.

The store is very large and carries more asian products than Ive ever seen, in all my life. The customer service gentlemen were very helpful with finding a product I was looking for. One of them recommended a couple of items and I bought them and was very pleased, when I got home. The prices were extremely affordable, also. Thanks and keep it up!

Small place compared to what you might expect in a bigger city such as New York, LA or Atlanta but got everything you need. Sometimes the produce quality is very questionable but they got all the staples for Chinese or any other Asian cooking. The area this store located is very sketchy and they are the only store in the shopping plaza.

Fairly decent selection but a little pricey for many items. Had some Russian choices and European but mostly Chinese with some other SE Asian fare. Probably will find many things here not available elsewhere. The store entry wasnt too clean but the store inside was clean and varied.

My wife is Chinese and does most of the cooking as youd expect she makes mostly Chinese dishes. We come here at least once a week for our groceries. Fish is always fresh and good, plenty of items you cant find in an American supermarket.

Great place for finding specialty Asian ingredients and snacks, like bubble tea "bubbles", frozen udon noodles, and lychee nuts. My favorite Asian supermarket in the Cleveland area (good prices, clean, fairly easy to navigate).

Mobus Dorphin

Has just about all of your asian grocery needs, including housewares. Also has a nice European section which is a little pricey but has some nice charcuterie as well as preserved fish, pickles, kefir, etc.

Very large selection of fresh asain vegetables and authentic ingredients can be found here. Dont forget about their smoked fish and hot prepared foods such as fresh roasted chestnuts and yams in the winter.

Great Asian store across the street from the old Randal Park Mall. They have a great selection of Asian foods and condiments. Nice gifts too. Prices are reasonable.
