Ive been a regular Hannafords customer since it opened. I can bearly begin to describe how awful Tops is. The items that I regularly buy have gone up 50% to 100%! They switched around the milk products and the butter for what appears to be, no other reason than to just change things. When I walk in, I feel like I stepped into a Pioneer Supermarket in the South Bronx, but with a Whole Foods price! Ive known the staff for years. Most are really good. There are a few that are the cause of a high employee turn-around, but the new older employees from Tops are wholly incompetent. There has got to be a cheaper way to destroy a supermarket. P.S. They put high priced brands, that nobody buys, next to their overpriced Tops products in an effort to trick you.

I"m a regular shopper at the Putnam Plaza Hannaford and after one visit to the new store I will not be returning. Why? -the staff is confused and the crew that Tops sent in to take over the store is incompetent at best. Rumor has it that most of the associates will be fired and thats evident by the massive amount of hiring fliers theyve put up all over the store. -the prices are close to double for most things, including fruit. -they are advertisiting the use of a Tops card to "save more" intead of just keeping the prices low. This indicates that the prices will go up even more than they have already. Save the trip and go to Shoprite or the Pawling Hannaford instead.

Id like to say to the former Hanfords customers,. This is not Hanfords. I understand you Miss it, but remember Hanfords sold off this store. You seem to be taking your anger out on the new store. I have found the store to be just fine. I will tell you what I saw was nasty people who obviously were old bitter Hanfords customers. One man was yelling at the cashier saying "this is not Hanfords ànd you suck". Really adult of him. I for one hope he does not shop there anymore so that others may have a nice experience shopping. I wish Tops success and will continue to patron it. My family has been happy with what I have purchased so far. Best wishes.

This place is awful. Since they took over from Hannafords, they have moved everything 2-3 times. Shopping takes 3 times longer than normal, and everyone in the store is grumbling about it. How difficult is it to layout the items in a store that was already set up? Theyve also stopped carrying certain items we regularly bought at Hannafords, without at least replacing them with a similar product from a different brand, as youd expect when a store changes ownership. They also still have bare shelves several weeks after taking over the store. If you arent ready, DONT OPEN. Now I drive 15 minutes to a different store now, instead of 5 to this one.

The store is beautiful. I found the 3 different prices on the meat confusing. Then we stood for 10 minutes at the fish counter. No one acknowledged us. We gave up and walked away. We were not the only ones. Tops would sell more fish if they manned the counter. A vendor offering samples nearby felt bad and called out for the fish guy several times to no avail. A half hour later when we walked by, the fish counter person was there. The sauce vendor called us over. When we said it was too late the fish man made a snotty comment. Were we supposed to wait upon his convenience? I dont think so.

Your daytime manager who looks like she smokes more than she works was very rude to Brian your employee with a speech impediment who was only trying to do his job. He asked me if I ad a Bonus Card and I did not so he gave me an application and a pen and called for the manager to swipe the store card for me as a courtesy. She said rudely "Your not supposed to do that!" Soo sorry to disrupt your complaints about how miserable your life is please resume smoking at work. Brian is a delight though following what he was taught and trying to push Monopoly cards on everyone

Was a Hannaford customer from the time it first opened. That store was SPECIAL with availibility of organic and healthy products and top quality in general. Tops is the complete opposite. The store now appears more like what is expected in the Bronx or less affluent neighborhood. Will now shop at Hannaford on Rte 22, Trader Joes and DeCiccos. Tops will lose many original Hannaford customers, but maybe the will gain more of the Shoprite customers. Good Luck! My heart goes out to the original Hannaford staff who have remained.

Huge disappointment. The produce, when available, isnt fresh or ripe. They were out of red bell peppers...really? Most shelves are half empty with little selection. They have removed quality brand name products and replaced them with the Tops brand, which contain a ton of artificial fillers and words that I cant pronounce. In addition to the terrible quality of the food, the prices are double that of Hannafords, even with the now required pre-shopping coupon clipping on their website.

Tops Market recently replaced an excellent Hannaford store. The Tops Market has lower quality merchandise and a lot of generics in the Tops name but does not have the selection of excellent specialty items that Hannaford had. Service is the usual inferior service at supermarkets with relatively long lines and indifferent management. The store is only a good bet if youre looking for the lowest cost but a poor choice if youre looking for quality or variety.

Has been a while since it opened. Sale prices are not updated in the system all the time and you have to wait longer to confirm the prices. Yes, it is overpriced. Self checking customer service should be an active and tech oriented person. Some employees are very helping and some are nasty. I think, stone need to train them with good customer skills. All I can say, we missed Hannafor

I wish I can rate this place NO STARS. I miss Hannaford, Tops products in my opinion dont come close to the quality Hannaford has. 7.99 for a Chicken which was dry, 4.99 at Hannaford. Also you need a card for the discounts, take your card and shove it. I dont see tops staying around too long, hopefully Hannaford comes back. Guess I have to make the trip to Hannaford in Pawling.

I hate Tops. It is nothing but a lousy imitation of a BJs or a Costco. I want NOTHING more than a return of Hannaford, which was TRULY friendly, and VERY affordable. Prices are going up,up,up at Tops. Cant afford to shop there. I hate that store. Crummy clientele cram the aisles... The shopping baskets are ridiculously cumbersome. Leave me alone.

When this place switched from Hannaford to Tops my wife almost cried. The first month or two things were pretty out of wack, but they seem to be hitting their stride. The meat selection has gotten much better as has the beer selection. It seems that the place is turning into a poor mans Deciccos, which if youve shopped a bunch at Deciccos you probably are!

I miss Hannafords -- Tops is terrible. I attempted to get some whole bean coffee today and had a whopping three whole choices! Wow! On top of that, they have TWO coffee grinders at "Java junction," which is located in the bakery. Two, pristine, unused grinders, and nothing but bags of ground Starbucks at old Java junction... This place is an embarrassment.
