I have had nothing but fantastic experiences at this PETCO, and drive out to Garden City regularly instead of using my local pet food supply store. First and foremost, I have a Landseer Newfoundland, which is a giant breed dog. He is very docile and sweet, but was slightly timid. I met the dog trainer Evelyn by chance walking in my neighborhood, and she noticed that he was a timid puppy and recommended puppy training for him. He did very well in puppy training, and I find that the commands and the structure and very helpful and stay with the dog throughout time. He was placed in Adult II but did not have as much success because he is a comically lazy breed, and the much more complicated tasks were too much for him, no matter how great the treats were. However, on another trip to this pet supply store, the trainer Evelyn again approached me, remembered my dog, and asked why he wasnt returning. When I explained that he didnt fair well in the Adult II class, she was kind enough to tell me to call her to set up and appointment, and she would personally test my dog to see where his skill level was, and get him back into a more appropriate training course. I, as a first time dog owner, was made to feel very comfortable, confident, and like I had control over my giant dog at all times, thanks to the exceptional training we both received from Evelyn. I also would like to compliment the grooming staff. There is a groomer by the name of Ilene that I would only trust my dog with. At only 12 weeks, she recognized his breed, and knew exactly how to handle a big, goofy, timid puppy. She was so incredibly sweet and gentle, that Banjo fell in love, and now this is the ONLY groomer Im willing to take him to. This PETCO is very friendly, the staff are more than competent in their job and their experience is astounding. I will never go anywhere else as long as I have my dog, and because he loves it here so much, so do I. These other reviews are a shame, because this place is incredible. More than once, I even called the store and was able to talk to the trainer about any questions or concerns I had about Banjo when we werent in class. They go above and beyond here. Like I have mentioned before, I have a giant dog. Many groomers wont even take him on, much less dog trainers. They see an enormous animal and immediately assume hes aggressive or too much to handle. NONE of the staff at this PETCO turned away from my puppy. At almost 8 months (and nearly 90 lbs) I have enjoyed every minute of my relationship with this PETCO, and we will continue to come to this PETCO for years to come. Thank you to Evelyn, Ilene, and the rest of the PETCO family for helping me become the best animal parent I could ever become. I am blessed to have found you all!

BEWARE OF PETCO IN GARDEN CITY PARIK! I just wanted to share my story with everyone on here who is thinking about going to Petco in Garden City Park. I signed up my 4month puppy Oliver, a 3lb yorkshire terrier, to their "puppy class" He got attacked by a Great Dane there, and broke 2 bones. I was the one that had to pull my dog out because the trainer Tabatha was no where to be found. My dog was screaming and crying (like a baby, i have never heard anything like this before in my life). Make long story short, this was an act of negligence on their behalf. Petco told me all bills would be taken care of and I would be reimbursed.... $6,000 later on bills and surgery, they tell me "sorry we are not paying for anything we are not liable." I am trying to bring awareness to the negligence of Petco, and the fact that they allow a 3lb yorkshire terrier to be in "play time" with a great dane. I had to hire a lawyer to take my case and hopefully the news will be covering my story.

I used to go there to get mice for my corn snake and red tail boa. The normal staff was always pleasant and helpful. However, today I had the pleasure to deal with one of the managers. It was raining and the only available parking spot was covered with a huge puddle. I would not be able to get out the car without standing in 3-4 inches of water. I parked the car on the side of the building over some yellow lines. This was not a handicap parking. It was far away from all other cars and did not obstruct anyone. As I was paying for the mice, the manager asks in quite a rude tone "I that your car". I told her yes. She proceeded to explain to me how this could be a fire hazard, it makes it harder for people to park, so on and so forth. Even if this was all true (which i doubt) she was so very rude about it all. I asked the cashier to cancel my order and I left. I will NEVER shop at this store again. EDIT: I also reported this incident to customer service.

Though brick and mortar stores are going the way of the dinosaur, its convenient to have a physical location near by in case my dog needs treats or food while Im waiting for a shipment from Chewy. Theres a large selection of items, and though its much cheaper online, I come here occasionally for the convenience. They have friendly staff (though it can feel empty some days) and its a good idea to be part of the rewards program if you come here often. But really, you should be shopping for pet supplies at online retailers.

I had my havens groomed there yesterday and when the dog was picked up I could not believe the terrible haircut that the dog received. They did not follow my instructions at all and the dog now looks like a poodle. Clearly this person, who was very pleasant, did not have a clue on how to cut this dog. The Petco in Sarasota Fl. did a good job. I would never go back to the Garden City store. tony

Pretty standard pet store. I went looking for pet treats to calm my feline during an upcoming trip. One of the associates led me to the appropriate section for this and offered me some suggestions of products based on customer feedback. I am pleased with the level of service here. The store was also well kept.

Shopped here over 100 times and never had any issues. Live inventory can be better displayed and stocked with optimal animal needs. A bit pricey - Amazon prime wins but this store has certainly improved over years.

Consistent service and goods. In the general area, my preference is for Broadway Hicksville Petco which seems to have superior service above the others.

Its a great place to get pet supplies. Its somewhat small though so there arent many animals. Dont expect a petting zoo,
