My wife and I had an opportunity to attend the Jimmy V Gala on August 25. This date also happened to be our 39th wedding anniversary. We were both looking forward to this special event. I had plenty of time to make everything right and my expectations were high. The tux had to be sharp, fresh and in style. I had seen Savvi in the Promenade center before and noticed the displays in the window as well as their fleet of delivery vans parked out front.I know the place has been there for quite a while because I remember seeing it there when Best Buy was still in that area along with the old PharMore drug store across the way. I walked in on a Saturday expecting some expert assistance because I had no idea what I wanted. The only thing I knew was it had to be right! The place was swamped like a bee hive! Groups of women looking at wedding dresses and bridesmaids trying to decide the style and color to choose for their special event. As one of the staff members were shuttling dresses back to the fitting room she stopped and greeted me with, " Good afternoon,Ill be with you in just a moment" I took the time to look at all the different tuxes to choose from. Every one was a designer name tux. I knew that I was at the right place with the best selection.I am sorry I dont remember the persons name but when she took the time to help me, her first question was. "Tell me what the occasion is?" Not a "How may I help you"... or "what can I do for you?" She was genuinely interested in my experience. I told her about our special event and she came back with a few tuxes to try on. I ended up selecting the narrow lapel classic black vested Calvin Kline tux. Needless to say it was a perfect night at the Gala. We had an extraordinary time , money was raised to continue fighting cancer and oh yea....my wife said i looked great! Thank you Savvi!! The way I look at it, there are quite a few shops that offer formal clothes but this group of dedicated people have the passion to make sure your experience is outstanding! Guys-when you need a tux..This is the place!

I hate giving a bad review, but others should be warned of this place. We rented tuxes here for a wedding and the result was disappointing. 1. The biggest thing that went wrong was one of our groomsman arrived at the wedding in a completely different tux. Some of us picked up the tuxes at different times, and he had no way of knowing whether it was correct or not. It may be just one wrong tux, but when everyone is supposed to look the same in pictures and the ceremony, etc., this is a big deal. 2. The sizing was way off. Many of the group was from out of town, but for the ones that were in town and got sized at Savvi, the measurements were not just slightly off. Even the lady working there was surprised, and my tux looked like it was from a weight loss commercial. They were able to fix everything, after we waited for another employee to arrive (she was not sure how to fix the problem) but it didnt make a lot of sense why we made the trip to get measured if they were going to be so inaccurate. 3. I was overcharged for my tuxedo. When I got sized, I was asked if I would be renting shoes, and I told them that I would be using my own. When I picked up the tux, it did not come with shoes, and I asked the other groomsmen what they were charged, and they had been charged less. When I returned the tux, I asked the woman about it, and she said she would give me a refund. She handed me a blank piece of paper and asked me to write my credit card information down, which I thought was extremely unprofessional. I told her I need a receipt and asked "do I need to write down my credit card information, or can you just take care of it with me here?" She seemed flustered, but did give me a refund for the shoes of an even $15.00. I wish that our experience had been better. It doesnt seem like there is a lot of attention to detail here, and the staff that we dealt with did not seem to be properly trained.

I went into Savvi Formalwear and Bridal of Glenwood Avenue on a whim one afternoon just to ask about bridal gowns. After bringing me their book of gowns to browse through and mark the ones I liked, a consultant then brought out the five I picked and helped me decide what best fit the style and look I had in mind as my dream gown. I finally got the "feeling" brides talk about when they find "the dress," but it was not the style of dress I had in mind, so I tried on another dress with the cut I liked and was torn on what I wanted more. The stores owner, Denise, told me that I could custom order a dress that could have both styles I liked from the two dresses. I was so excited that I ended up ordering. Not to mention the custom price wasnt that much more than the price of the standard dress. They told me it would take several months to come in, and that the designer of the dress would send them a sketch for me to sign off on. The sketch was faxed over within days of my order, and looked just like what we discussed. When the dress finally came in, it was better than I had imagined - it was the perfect dress. Denise and her staff were so excited for me and made me feel so special. I got so many compliments on my dress, even from my mother-in-laws seamstress that used to work at a bridal shop! I was so pleased that I recently went back to Savvi to have my dress preserved. I am sure when it comes back, it will again be better than I imagined. Thank you Denise and to your staff for making me feel like a truly special bride!

I have mixed feelings about this place. We rented our tuxes from there and the tuxes turned out great, the sizes were a little off for the guys who got measured in store, but they were quickly fixed when they picked them up. They do offer the option to try on any color suit where as a lot of stores all they have to try on is black so you cant see how other colors looked on (for example, we used tan). My main problem is their bookkeeping. When my husband picked out his tux he put down a deposit. When my dad went to get fitted he paid the remaining balance of my husbands tux, and the full amount for his tux and the other three tuxes, so he paid for all the tuxes in full. When the groomsmen went to get fitted for their tuxes, they still made them pay the deposit, even though they had been paid, we called and they refunded their money. Then about a month before the wedding we got a call asking if we were still interested in the tuxes, my husband said yes, we decided to rent tuxes from you already, and the lady told him that they would need a deposit to order the tuxes. He told them they had already been paid for and the lady seemed confused and then called us back to apologize and agreed that they were paid in full. I understand bookkeeping mistakes happen, but THREE times is absurd. You would think when somebody paid in full, it would be much less of a hassle, but this certainly was not the case. The calls back and forth really were a hassle on all of us and the groomsmen.
