Jo-Anns is one of the best fabric stores that Ive been to, and definitely the best fabric store in Raleigh. They have a really nice selection of common fabrics that stay constant throughout the year (like cotton and quilting fabrics), and they have a good seasonal selection that rotates throughout the year. My two favorite things about the store: the remnants, and the coupons. Theres always at least one remnant bin thats typically 50% off, but sometimes can be more than that, too. During busy sales like the Veterans Day sale, there can be up to 2-3 remnant bins. Just as a tip, if youre looking for just cheap scraps for random projects, wait until the last day of a sale weekend, especially if youre looking for holiday fabrics - other people are probably buying up the same fabrics that you are, and the scraps will be put in the bin the next day. The coupons are great - if you have a smartphone, definitely download the app. One thing thats great about this store is they just scan the coupon off your phone, so you dont have to print any coupons out to use them. Also sign up for their mailing list - youll get emailed good coupons, on a pretty consistent basis. One of the downsides to the store is that it can take a while to get some fabric cut, so running up there on my lunch break doesnt always work out. Generally theres a line, so you take a number and wait for your number to be called. Sometimes people dont realize this and end up waiting around for a bit before they do, especially new people (it took me a good 3-4 people to figure out where to pick out the number on my first visit - check one of the columns around the cutting table). But thats something you get used to. Outside of Jo-Anns, the only fabric store Ive been to in Raleigh is Hancock Fabrics. Compared to Hancock, Jo-Anns has a better selection of both fabric and notions, and Hancock doesnt have a smartphone app (that Ive been able to find).

I have been there twice and I will not go again. The first time, I went to have my yardage (just 2 yards) cut after the announcement had been made to bring up final purchases and they would not cut my fabric. I had a handful of other items and I put them all back and left. The second time, the clerk bordered on rude and all but rolled her eyes when I asked if she could help me figure yardage for draperies. This was a special order fabric so we are talking about a large amount of money, at least for my budget. She said "no" and when I went on to explain, she said sarcastically " and you dont know how much you need". She was very sarcastic and I will not be back to this store. You would think that in this economy, stores would put more value on customer service.

I decided to give Jo-anns a try today. Only to be majorly disappointed. I get home to find lines where it seems the fabric was done incorrectly all through my bundle yard of fabric. The staff was mostly friendly, just very disappointed with Jo-Anns, the quality also doesnt seem to justify charging 15$ for a yard of dot fleece. Will be trying to get the fabric either replaced or a refund. Make sure to examine the fabric carefully, and only shop with sales and coupons to make it worth while. Update: went to the store and the associates were very nice once again, returned the fabric and went to hobby lobby instead.

This is the last time I will be coming here. The lady that was helping me look for the fabric I needed was very rude, and when I got to the register the lady charged me $5.00 for a thread that was on clearance for 50 cents thinking that we were too stupid to check the receipt. When I confronted the lady about it she said "I can not lower the price that much, someone must have misslabeled it" after speaking to her manager, she was told to change the price to 50 cents and return the money she said "this is ridiculous". Overall bad experince, would not recommend coming here.

I live near here and have been a few times out of convenience. Each time, I end up really regretting not going someplace else. The service is incredibly slow and borderline rude. Ive never been in and out in under and hour and Im not a browser, nor do I buy a lot. The last time I was in, I only needed a piece of ribbon. I walked in, found the ribbon, waited to have it cut, walked straight to the front to pay, and walked out... an hour later. Ridiculous! If youre looking for fast, or even moderately-paced service, or helpful staff, I would go someplace else.

Katie, ECU grad in costuming, is delightful! She has bailed me out of a couple sewing situations with her awesome knowledge of the art of sewing and creating. Super professional. Asking someone a question that doesnt sew or craft is the WORST!! I am sorry, but I must say that there is a Manager at this location that makes me feel like I am imposing just because I am in the store. I have yet to see her working side-by-side with her staff. : (

The people at Joanns has been nothing but helpful to me, every time. There is almost always a bit of a wait at the fabric cutting counter, but thats what happens when there a whopping 2 fabric stores in Raleigh that I know of. They have a very good selection of fabrics, and I can almost always find whatever Im looking for, for my projects. Employees have always been helpful with fabric suggestions, locating items and answering questions.

Nice selection of fabric. Prices are pretty good especially when they are discounted. Wish patterns were better organized. Prices on tools are not good, go to Walmart for better prices on needles, pins, rosaries, etc. Customer service is pretty good. Some of the staff areare really nice and helpful. Others you can tell its just a job for them.

Unfortunately, I continue to have disappointing experiences at this store. The employees at the fabric cutting counter are (at least when Ive visited) rude, impatient, and always talking about when theyre going to get their next break. Having a negative customer service experience seems to be a trend here... I plan to stay away. :(

I like Jo-anne Fabrics, I usually find exactly what I need for crafting, sewing and making jewelry. Subscribe to their email and they will send you lots of deals. Good place to get seasonal items, they mark those down even before whatever holiday is over. Never crowded and easy access from road.

I boycotted the JoAnn Fabrics chain for 15 years based on a negative experience I had at a single store; however, based on my daughters recommendation, Ive been to this JoAnns twice. The staff have been very knowledgeable and friendly. The selection has been amazing. I will continue to return.

Staff (excluding the cutting counter) not very helpful. Management doest really want to help the employees so they get strung out. Space is not inviting. Selection is poor. If you want a real JoAnns, road trip to Michigan and hit up the store in Novi. They are all on point!
