I have owned and ridden motorcycles over the past 20 years. Getting your bike repaired by a dealer can be a prolonged and unpleasant experience with many dealers taking unreasonably long time for repairs and doing poor job in the end. I thought I was used to all that but this dealership took the cake of any experience I have ever had in the last 20 years. I bought a K1600GTL from them with only 1700 miles however there was an issue with shifting gears so I brought it back to check it out under warranty, that was 3 months ago! Ive seen nearly totaled bikes rebuild by dealers in shorter time. I have called the dealership at least once a week and the list of excuses I was given is even more disturbing than the time they are taking to "fix" the bike and makes me question their qualifications to service or repair anyones motorcycle. Multiple times they informed me that they had to get in touch with BMW in Germany to find out about the process of disassembly and later reassembly and how to address a particular issue or to find out about the margin of permissible wear on a particular part. What is even worse, few times they said they had to order a particular tool to be able to take it apart and put it together and had it shipped from Germany. They did not know what some parts were in the transmission and stated had to call Germany to find out because "it was not on a diagram".How does a BMW dealership not know how to disassemble and reassemble transmission? How are they not even familiar with some parts in it? Do not know torque specifications? Do not have proper tools to do it? Unfamiliar with allowable specs for the parts? These are only some of the excuses they gave me. I was given multiple promised completion dates last one was January 7th before I had to move out of state. They promised to get it done before i move out. Just spoke to them now and now next promised date is next Wednesday 2/22/17. I have saved all emails from them and documented every single phone call I have had. If anyone would like to see transcripts I will gladly provide. This dealership is not qualified to service or repair BMW motorcycles. By their own admission they lack the knowledge, experience and tools to do so. As per last conversation this morning when I asked why is it taking so long i was told "this is a complex repair and we dont do it often on these bikes". Well in that case you should not undertake repairs you are not qualified to do. I would have gladly went to another dealership to have it taken care of and would have it back in few weeks in stead of 3 months and still no end in sight. This repair attempt by the dealership goes beyond one simple snag that could happen anywhere. It goes beyond one mishap that could happen to anyone, it is an unending cycle of gross incompetence and negligence on their part. Buyer be ware!!! Unless you want to end up like me now spending money on attorneys, steer clear of this dealership.

For the past two years, I have been taking my bike to get it serviced at BMW of Charlotte. I did not buy it from them, so I can not provide much on the sales aspect. When I have spoken with the staff, I have always had positive interactions and I would seriously consider purchasing a bike from BMW of Charlotte in the future. The technicians/mechanics, service manager, and parts manager all come across as honest people with good customer service skills. I remember I was having the brakes/ABS system serviced and Thomas - one of the technicians - came out to show me the old brake pads from my bike. I had agreed to have them changed when he noticed the pads where worn. Thomas could have easily disposed of the old pads, but he took the time to find me and show me how worn they were. On another occasion, Delong and Rory - two other technicians - have spoken with me to explain various aspects about my bike. Both could have easily given that responsibility to Bill - the service manager - but they didnt. I love my bike and so it is important for me to meet the people working on it. Owning my motorcycle makes me understand that I need to look at the dealership as well. I could have the best bike on the planet, but if I dont like the people who will service it, then it is no longer the best bike for me. BMW of Charlotte staff are knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate bikers.

Motorcycles of Charlotte is fantastic. I have purchased 2 different bikes from them because their staff all work together to make things happen. Mark the owner even took time out of his day to teach me how to ride the new Ural I bought and made sure I got home safe. When I go in for service, Im greeted on a first name basis with a handshake and a smile. If something unexpected needs to be done on my bikes they dont sugar coat it and give me options as to what needs to be done now vs later. The waiting room is stocked with snacks & drinks and on the weekends they sometimes have a complimentary BBQ or like last weekend, fresh tacos. Everyone from the sales staff, the office folks, the guys who work the accessories counter, the lot/ delivery guy and most definitely the service department work together to make sure things are done right. I really cannot say anything negative about Motorcycles of Charlotte as they go out of their way to make sure the customer is happy. They are the real deal.

Love this dealership! Utmost in customer service and continued relationship. We drive from Cincinnati to Charlotte to deal only with these guys. Greg North in sales, John Brannagan in parts Michael Langdon and Charlie Hern have gone over the top again and again to make the purchase and servicing of out bikes smooth and enjoyable. “Each of these guys went out of their way to attend to the selection of accessories, service needed, installation and sales of additional gear. Even during their busiest time of day they remained attentive and personable. We cant say enough about each of them from the sale of the bike to the minute details of our wants/needs. We travel nearly 1000 miles round trip to deal with only this dealership beacuase of their consistent connection and conscientious effort. From the owners to each staff member we have interacted with we have found nothing but individuals that love their product and live the lifestyle so they understand what customers are looking for. ”

I have had the pleasure of purchasing a Ducati 1098S from Steve and the team in the last few months and I can honestly say, "One of the most pleasurable motorcycle purchases I have ever had!" Steve was welcoming, Honest with what he could and could not do, and made the negotiations between Management and myself easier that expected! Thanks to Steve, I have been back to the dealership many times for service upgrades and another possible purchase. Great Work! Recently, (as of today) I had a chance to meet with Mark the owner and chat for sometime. Another great conversation about Ducati and my experience, which left me with a feeling that I wanted to come back just to say hello! Rarely are we finding these traits when purchasing anything! Thank you Gentlemen and have a great week! I will be back!
