Had to service some wheels and was too busy to do it myself like normally, took my wheels in to be rebuilt(respoked) but first called to see how much it would cost in detail that one wheel needs to be completely respoked and that the needs wheel the last 4 spokes to be put in along with both wheels being trued, the manager said around 20-25$, I decided to take it in since thats not a bad price and they said it would be done by 2pm. I called around 1pm to see if they happened to be done early or had gotten started and they said that no but the mechanic would call soon as it was done, I called at 2:30 to see if they were ready and they said the same thing except adding it would be around 30$ + tax I explained I had exactly 30$ cash and they hooked me up, its only half an hour late and 5$ so I was ok with it. around 3 hours later I finally got the call that it was done and that I could go pick them up, I was annoyed at the fact that it was 3 and a half hours late but that wasnt the worst part... When I show up they are putting on the tires and tubes and I get told that "I have a flat" HOWEVER BOTH TUBES WERE INFLATING FINE WHEN I DROPPED THEM OFF, I immediately told them that and they said "sorry we cant do anything about it" when the man hands me the wheels and I strap them onto my backpack I get told its 45$..... not only did they pop my tube, Do the job late, and overcharge me. They completely ignored me (possibly because Im a teenager) when I disputed that they should replace my tube for me since I brought it in working order and made me pay 5$ for a replacement that was not on par with the one THEY damaged. The tube they gave me was thin and also did not have a locknut to keep the valve out. I then also had to tell them to give me a cap for the crappy tube because I brought both wheels with everything and caps should come with new tubes in the first place. In the end I went out spending money from my debit card that I wasnt supposed to use spending a total of 53$ because they also charged me 3$ "for the tire lever the mechanic uses when replacing the tube. Never going to this place again and neither are any of my friends who I was going to recommend the place after reading all the good reviews before.

This is the bicycle shop that I use for almost any repair or problem. The staff are great and they do incredible work for a very reasonable price. The staff works with bicycles new and old and they have never said no to a repair no matter how difficult. I have brought them tandems, triple tandems, old school bicycles with cottered cranks, triathlon bikes, and even my bicycle trailer and they have fixed every problem with no complaint (our triple tandem was nine feet long and the mechanic made the repairs without an appointment). Sales staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. This bicycle shop is a gem and is located very near to the bicycle path and across the street from some good restaurants. You can get a meal while your bicycle is being serviced. While I have not purchased a bicycle from the shop yet, I know that they have a good service record and also rent bicycles.

Just purchased a Jamis Commuter 4 from this shop and while I rarely write reviews the stunning service and good value I received at this shop have compelled me to do so. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable making sure my bike was fitted correctly and I was as happy as I could be on pick up day. They have a very well stocked shop and all employees are clearly bike people from which it is hard to not catch some of their enthusiasm for cycling. I came down from Tarrytown only 20 minutes with no traffic, although I could have come down the Hudson River greenway on bike as well. I recommend this shop to anyone looking for a professional no nonsense shop. Location is very easy for anyone in Manhattan, Bronx or lower Westchester.

Got a Airborne Goblin online. I went in to get it tuned and properly set up. Bought my first bike here at a great price and the knowledge and professionalism of the people here was refreshing, so i knew what to expect this time around and I must say i was not disappointed. There was only one mechanic in the service area and yet i was in and out in no time. He was also very friendly and explained some of the functions of the bike which I appreciated as Im still new to Mountain Biking. If youre looking for great service, friendly people that know their products, great prices as well as a huge selection of bikes then Tread Bike Shop is your one and only stop .

Two years Ive gone to this shop. I have so many great things to say and not enough time. They serviced 3 of my bikes and helped my wife pick out hers and fit it to how she liked it. They are not always the most attentive but they always have great advice and the mechanics are top notch. Prices are about average to fair for a non-corporate shop, they have group rides if you ask nicely they might tell you. Its a local shop with a big box flare..whats not to like? If you need anything extremely high-end they can order it too. They are just awesome, be patient and polite and theyll return the favor. And they rent bikes cheap!!

So friendly, competent, and priced fairly in terms of repairs. Im always going to them not even because I need to but because I never want them to disappear. And when I really DO need them, theyre always ready to help with a smile. But all of that sounds corny, so heres the bottom line: theyve got a monopoly on the neighborhood but they dont take advantage of it. Instead, the guys who fix the bikes are patient and take a lot of pride in their work. I dont know about buying new bikes from them, but definitely check them out and go to them first of your bike has an issue. Thanks, Tread!

Called up, was looking to bring my bike in for a Spring tune up and a once over for the 5 Boro Bike Ride. My bike has had two previous owners and was recently put back together. It has never run so smoothly after the folks at Tread gave it the care and attention it needed. The staff at Tread were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and most of all welcoming. Tread is a wonderful bike shop with a great community feel in the neighborhood and one that I will be coming back to for all my cycle related needs. Thank you for the help!

I love this place, they are great for bike rentals, supplies and advice. I take friends here when the want to go biking with me and dont have a bike. Its great that they are so close to the west side. Recently I got a new bike but it had a few issues, I go to the shop 10 mins before closing, they help me figure out the issue, fix 2/3 (for free) and then tell me to come back tomorrow and they will get me all setup! I am fan for life now. My next couple of bikes will be brought here. Highly recommending!
