We initially contacted this dealership as a way to get competing pricing for the Highlander we were looking at. This quickly changed to a dealership who would actually deal with us via e-mail, and be completely transparent with all fees/pricing. Funny how hard that is to find in the car business... well, we found it here! Debbie D was the first person that we spoke to. She helped break all pricing down, was game for our multiple back-and-forth emails regarding pricing and fees, and would even answer us off-hours! We were a bit apprehensive about coming to the actual dealership and having to work through a bait-and-switch, or wade through the cut-throat behaviors and slightly simmering animosity that we felt from various salespeople when visiting other dealerships. Instead, we were treated to a chorus of hellos and genuine smiles, all within the first 2 minutes of us entering! Maybe its an Orange County thing.... We met with Tom K, who is possibly the most laid back salesperson we have ever encountered. Tom quickly went over some of the fees that Debbie missed in the e-mail exchange so that we would not be blindsided. I appreciated the up-front honesty, which gave us time to walk away if we were not ok with the change. The test drive was great, and Tom was fantastic at showing us all the latest and greatest gadgets featured in the Highlander. At this point we met Lynn D, who explained our additional warranty options, the wisdom of investing in it, tire protection, and more. We ended up declining, but Ill admit that his sales pitch was so relaxed and matter-of-fact that he had us hard-lining no extended warranty ever individuals actually consider it. We ESPECIALLY appreciated Lynns approach in speaking with us- no hard sales, no pitting us against each other, and no talking down to us despite our age and/or race. We came back the following day, and found everything to be ready for us to go. Also, I counted: 6 individuals (on Thursday) and 7 individuals (on Friday) smiled, spoke, or cracked jokes at us. These numbers do not included the 3 that we worked with. What is this place?? Land of the unicorn... or an Orange County thing... (For perspective- at another dealership we visited a week ago, 5-10 different Toyota salesmen walked right past us. No hellos, no eye contact.) Side note: kudos on that fantastic website! The web designers and maintenance is clean, modern and is what I expect from a 2016 car transaction; we were appalled at the state of some of the other dealership websites in the area.... theyre something out of the 1990s GeoCities era. That website was like an extension of your showroom- spacious, clean, colorful, and very neatly laid out. Might need the contact info of whoever does the spatial reasoning on your team. So to sum it up- Johnston Toyota is the unicorn in the room. The only dealership that weve ever dealt with that had genuinely happy and calm people involved, from beginning to end. The only dealership that was willing to print prices on e-mail, negotiate online, and stick with the agreed upon numbers. And everyone smiles!! Yes, you are a mythical creature in the world of car transactions.

Buyer Beware I have been a long time customer and purchased my 4th vehicle a certified Highlander. First day I had the vehicle water poured in soaking the drivers floor mat and center console. off to service. Two days after that repair engine warning light on, back to service. I then had a meeting with my salesman and Steven Johnstons who promised up and down that this troubled vehicle would be replaced for me. salesman tried to offer a LE with lower mileage to that of my SE which was out of the question but then again promised to find a replacement before months end. That was the beginning of December. Have written a letter to Steven Johnstons asking to full fill his promise but have had no reply after two weeks. Emailed both Steve and salesman but again no response. Just goes to show that they are your best friend until they have your money and customer satisfaction does not equate. Totally dissatisfied with this dealership that once was very high on my opinion rating having had a flawless 8 - 10 years of previous purchases... PS Service department is exceptional. UPDATE: I had a long conversation with a sales manager Drew who worked very hard to come up with a solution to my problem offering up a few ideas. Eventually due to his persistence and tenacity we were able to solidify a replacement vehicle , an even better one to be exact. I am now comfortable in the knowledge that there is humanity in the car sales arena and I will once again be a Johnstons Toyota customer for the foreseeable future. Drew is a great asset to this dealership who I do so hope will be long lived.

This is not only my first purchase from Johnstons but my first Toyota too. I was quickly greeted as I walked in the showroom and approached by Kelvin Joseph, salesman. After some questions from both myself and Kelvin, we went about looking at the cars in stock. then cost of selected cars. Without any pressure, we eventually agreed on a car and price. What made this experience special was that at no time was I left looking for someone to help me. I was greeted with smiles, knowledable answers to my questions and never felt that I was being "sold", but helped. Kelvin was always professional and curtious and in the end, our deal was fair and what I wanted. The night I picked up the car, everything was ready, as agreed. The car was very clean and full of gas. Overall, my sales experience was great and I felt lucky to have Kelvin as my salesman and Johnstons as my Toyota dealer. I have bought many cars over the years but this experience made me question why I never shopped at Johnstons before. Kelvin Joseph was great to work with and treated me as if my time and business were both important to him. No games, no nonsense and no pressure to buy. To everyone involved, thank you for making my car buying experience pleasureable rather than stressful. I truely applaude the staff and Kelvin for thier professionalism, patience and customer appreciation. In the end, I left feeling that my business was important to Johnstons and I appreciated being "helped", not "sold". I recommend that anyone reading this consider seeing Kelvin Joseph to buy their new Toyota from Johnstons in Middletown.

My husband and I commute quite a bit for both of our jobs. We were looking to purchase vehicles that are reliable and not too expensive. Greg Kaufman was absolutely wonderful to work with. He listened to our needs, and really helped us with finding the best car to suit us. He was patient and very kind with us. He also did a great job with the trade in value on both of our cars. He was very nice to work with, and really seemed to care that both me and my husband were happy walking out the door. In my opinion, he really went above and beyond for us! I really cant explain how positive the experience was in purchasing our new vehicles. We worked with David Velez in financing our cars, and he was wonderful to work with as well. He was funny, and truly put us both at ease in purchasing our vehicles. He took the time to explain all the details of the various warranties available. He was also not overly pushy, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, when purchasing a vehicle, one tends to walk out of the dealer feeling like theyve been taken advantage of in some way, and not always 100% happy. I have to say, this was my first experience with Johnstons Toyota, and the first time I walked out of a car dealer satisfied with my purchase, the cost, and the absolutely wonderful treatment from Greg and David. I would certainly recommend this particular dealership, and both Greg and David, to anyone in the market looking to purchase a Toyota. I would and will go to them in the future!
