Do not trust them! I had problems with my electrical system, took it to them, paid them $80 to tell me that my alternator needed replaced for $600+. The price is not bad for a genuine Honda part and dealership labor charge but I could change it myself for $150 and I did. Guess what, same thing kept happening. After more of my own troubleshooting, found that it was the fuse for the alternator was bad. I couldnt believe it! I paid $80 for them to try and charge me $600+ for a part that was good? I had the alternator tested at Auto-Zone, asked them to do it several times, passed perfect everytime. I went to them and told the manager about this. Took a little arguing and getting the manager involved to find out they just plug a computer to the car and do what the computer tells them. $80 for that? No one actually looked at the fuses. I wanted my money back but they refused. Fine. Their $80 cost them several customers cause now, several people will not go there now. At the time, I also asked if they could replace my cat. convertor heat shield cause it fell off. The woman behind the counter told me that it wasnt that big of a deal, just dont park in tall grass. REALLY? Im asking for me to pay them extra parts and labor to avoid a fire hazard and they say its not that important! Up the road is Hunts Auto. Go there instead. They are great! Honest prices, labor charge is not too high and they dont charge $80 to do what a computer tells them what to do. Google reviews for them. All great! They actually couldnt believe Honda of Ithaca didnt check the fuse. Several auto-mechanics I know couldnt believe it either.

I used to go here for service, but no longer. I recognize that fixing cars isnt an exact science and that car problems can have multiple, different causes. Still, I want a mechanic that can reliably and rationally diagnose a problem. The Honda guys are nice and all, but they just dont have the chops to do anything beyond routine maintenance. If your car is having a problem and the computer doesnt throw a code, then they dont know what to do. Its like they have a book that tells them step-by-step what to do and, if anything should fall outside the realm of normal, they either do nothing or start recommending a lot of expensive procedures that may or may not be necessary. Unfortunately, I endured quite some time of both inaction and expensive action by the Honda guys before I got wise and switched to an independent shop where the mechanics (not the desk jockeys) will actually spend the time to talk you through their thought process and show you the car and what needs fixing. On the first try, my new mechanics fixed the problem that Honda of Ithaca couldnt fix for over a year. It also cost me a heck of a lot less than Honda was charging me for all these other procedures that didnt fix the problem. There are a lot of quality mechanics in the area that you can go to for great car care. If you are still under warranty, then Honda of Ithaca might be for you. If you are beyond your warranty, Id suggest looking at some of the independent shops in the area.

My 67 year old father has a 2013 Accord with just over 30k miles. Their service attendant/manager convinced him he needed new brake pads and rotors... On a car with 30k miles. That is absurd. They also recommended and additional $600 in service (bear in mind the car is still fully warranted). Honda is a great brand and dealers typically are held to a higher standard, but unfortunately, this dealership took advantage of an older customer. My father was mortified when I told him theres no way hed burn out rotors in so few miles (with his driving style). Please be skeptical of their recommendations and appraisals as they put service revenue above honesty and the integrity of their brand. Despite being local, they arent the most trustworthy. **Note that a few days later, I spoke with the floor manager and the service manager. They gave an explanation of why the rotors burned out. I dont agree with their explanation but whats done is done. They did try to make an effort to rationalize the charge and both behaved professionally.

My wife brought vehicle in for state inspection. Service department claimed the vehicle needed new brakes and rotors. They were unaware that I knew the brakes and rotors had just been replaced 6 months ago. Honda of Ithaca claimed that the pad itself was separating from the mounting bracket. If youve ever worked with brakes you know that the pad and mounting bracket a permanently fused together. So I told them I would go home and inspect the brakes and rotors myself. Sure enough the brakes were in perfect condition at least 90% life, rotors were great to. I called them back and they said that the brake pad wasnt able to be removed with a finger? Be aware that this location is happy to sell you a car and show good salesmanship during that experienced, but when bringing your vehicle in for something minor they will take advantage of the opportunity to make dishonest gain! My recommendation know your car and dont bring it to Honda of Ithaca for service. Check out reviews of other service departments before you bring your car here!

I cannot say enough positive things about Honda of Ithaca. I have now purchased two cars from them and had them serviced multiple times when necessary (which is not a lot). I ALWAYS find the staff extremely friendly, honest, and willing to go the extra mile to help me out in a jam. The service manager, Dave, actually met me with a battery charger one day in town - above and beyond. Even if I am charged a premium (which I doubt), such attention and customer service is well worth it. I have read some of the other google reviews - I would only say to others to make sure to evaluate the experience yourself first hand before listening to others. Honda of Ithaca has good employees always striving to do a great job for their customers. They take pride in their work for this community, which flows down from ownership. I love my Hondas and I love Honda of Ithaca!

Can I please give this negative stars? Dealing with Honda of Ithaca was the worst service experience **of my entire life**. I brought in my Honda Civic for a routine replacement of the timing belt. They destroyed my car by putting the timing belt on incorrectly!! Then they tried to give me my car back in non-functioning condition. When I sent the car back to them, they charged me another $550 for other spurious repairs but never fixed my timing belt! The car continued to run awful until I finally got another mechanic to put my timing belt on correctly. Honda of Ithaca is refusing to refund me the cost of the timing belt repair, and are accusing my current mechanic of lying about fixing the belt, when he has been the only one to finally get my car to run again. DONT TRUST HONDA of ITHACA WITH YOUR CAR!

Typical dealership pressure to have expensive service work done which was completely unnecessary, like cabin and engine air filter replacement at ~15k, at $50 a filter. When I asked that the filter replacements be removed from the "15k Mile Service Package", the service rep was clearly ticked off that I had modified the recommended package. The truth is, I am the customer, and thats the bottom line. When adding things to vehicle service orders, you need to OK it with the customer. When a customer asks that something you have recommended not be done, you dont visibly show disgust in the customers decision, you nut up and deal with it. That is your job. Overall, I think the dealership as a whole is a presentable and decent place, but I will not return for any future service.
