These guys are really great and they do their job very well. My vacuum cleaner got burned and I did not expect that it will work ever again. But still, I decided to make sure that nothing can be fixed before placing it in the garbage. So, I found these guys on line and took my vacuum cleaner to their shop. I did not explain them too much what had happened to it, just mentioned that it almost caused the fire in my house and asked them to be careful. They said that they will check it out and let me know if it can be repaired and how much it would cost. The same day, few hours later they called and explained what needs to be fixed as well as replaced and gave me the total price. The cost was quite affordable, besides they said that some used parts could be replaced in order to make it even cheaper. The day after I dropped it off, they called and said that it was fixed. I was really amazed by their quick and professional service. Everything they promised me was done in the same manner. No changes, delays or any kinds of unexpected extra charges. They are very helpful and I had a great experience with them. I spent in their shop no more than 5 minutes each time I visited them (which was drop off and pick up). Besides, it was fixed in the shortest period of time possible (1 day). Moreover, when I tried my vacuum cleaner at home, I realized that they replaced or repaired the small detail - the light in the brush and did not charge any extra for that, though I have to admit that I completely forgot about it and never mentioned to them. I am very grateful and strongly recommend them to anyone who is looking for the services they offer. They are very responsible, attentive, quick and affordable to anyone.Thank you so much, Steve and Charlie! No service can be better!!!

I live in Manhattan and drove in to Bklyn to Brookes Sew and Vac Inc. It took all of only 20 mins to drive there and park. Steve (One of two Owners & Brothers) Immediately greeted me with a smile and kind word. He inquired about the Meile Vac I brought in and explained their Service policy: $15.00 to do a service check and locate the problem and once found would contact me to explain the problem and all options available to me. If I chose to have the service completed the intial service cost of $15.00 would then be deducted from the total service cost! So, later that same day I received his call regarding the problem and what options were available to me. What I didnt expect was a second call later that very day! why? My vacuum was ready to be picked up! now THATS SERVICE!! Guys, youve got a new lifelong customer! THANKS AGAIN! Paul

I went to this store despite the negative review below. I tend to only believe the negative ones, so was expecting a disaster. So not the case, this store rocks! I have never written a review before, but just want to do this to thank them for being so helpful. I brought in my broken sewing machine, that had an odd problem, for repair. I was told it would take a couple days. Much to my surprise, and a couple phonecalls from the store - to get a good idea of the problem and letting me know what it could cost - later, I could pick it up the same day. It totally works again, and even got serviced and some small repair work was done. The $15 that you pay upfront, gets deducted from the final bill, by the way. These guys really like what they are doing and that shows. Thanks guys!

I walked in and was helped almost immediately by someone who knew all about vacuums. He was able to help me navigate to the right solution (ie. repair my higher quality older vacuum, instead of buying a new one) AND he had the exact parts in stock! When I went home 15 minutes later, with the vacuum repaired, my Wife thought they couldnt help me. She was amazed when I showed her that it was already fixed and the parts were new. She couldnt tell because the color matched exactly and looked virtually the same, but of course it now worked correctly. Theyre a great local store - a really good Park Slope resource.

A review appearing six or so below this one by a Google User from three years ago is a completely accurate description of my experience including the name (Paul) and the drive time and ease of parking but I live in Dumbo rather than Manhattan. As I mentioned when I received the same day call that my repair was done, the rave reviews on another user experience website that brought me into the shop were right on the money except they understated the quality of the work and the customer experience. So I guess Ill still rely on Y E L P. Thanks very much, Brookes Appliances.

Im a long time patron of Brookes Appliances, but alas, no longer. The owner forgot to credit the $15 diagnostic charge toward a not inexpensive repair job for a vacuum wed originally purchased here ($136 to replace the electric cord). When my husband returned with the receipt a couple of days later to politely ask for the $15, the owner responded with rudeness, contempt and hostility. Bad behavior, plus a stupid way to do business This review should be one star, but Ill give you an extra one for nostalgic reasons. Dont see how I can ever go back.

I am shocked by the other reviews about how rude the proprietors are. I came here a few years ago as well and dont remember having any bad experiences. I called today after my vacuum stopped working. The proprietor was polite and informative. I brought my vacuum in for servicing and the policies were again explained. I did ask a question about vacuum cleaners in general and got a thorough reply.

Stopped by to buy a replacement brush bar for my Dyson. The man tried to charge me $60 on top of the price of the bar to install it, saying it would be difficult to do unless an expert did it. I got home from the store and called dyson and they said it was an easy thing to do...5 minutes later it was installed. DONT TRUST THEM...TIMES MUST BE TOUGH IF THEY ARE LYING TO GET BUSINESS

Always very knowledgeable about all of their products! Always good advice with up front pros and cons of each product. Ive bought my sewing machine, paper shredder, and vacuum from them and have been incredibly happy with all three of them! Even if I move out of Brooklyn someday I think Ill still come back here to buy electrical type appliances.

The owners are incredibly patient and I wholeheartedly suggest buying sewing machines from this store. After three days of trying to get to the store before they closed and frequent phone calls; I finally get to the store and the sewing machine is waiting for me and ready to go. It could not get any easier, their customer service is incredible.

Best service ever. I brought my Dyson in for repairs which they did for the next day. I got about 20 feet from the store and I tripped on some ice and the dirt collector part fell off and broke. I went back in and they gave me a replacement part absolutely free! Couldnt recommend these guys more.
