The counter staff was extremely helpful and nice. I waited for the mechanic to finish with customers ahead of me. Once he did he completely ignored me until the women behind the counter reminded him I was waiting. I am by no means well versed in bike speak. But I noticed a piece that secured the brake cable to the brake handle had a large piece of metal missing. I compared it to the other brake handle and it definitely was different. He insisted the were exactly the same! Even while running his finger over the damaged area, and saying with exasperation "Oh my god I cant believe I have to show you this". I was incredulous when he followed this up with "Yeah someone like you should definitely have your bike work done for you." Finally, he said the cable needed to be tightened, but he didnt have time, after fixing a bike ahead of me, and talking to someone endlessly about their new bike. He also said he could tune it up and have it ready by the next day, so no time to do a two minute repair, but time to do a full tune up?! Thats some good upselling buddy. Now Im no bike mechanic, but Ive run a metal shop, wood shop and foundry so I have some sense, but I like to have the work done by someone experienced. I also like to support local shops. So I picked up an allen wrench set and did it myself. Its too bad that local merchants act this way when people go out of their way to support them, because we all know parts are cheaper online!

It was a Saturday afternoon so there were a lot of customers around, a lot of confusion. It was difficult to get staffs attention. When I finally did, well, I dont know who the younger lady in pink and white was who was working there today, but she SURE was reluctant to physically take the bicycle pump in her hands which I was considering buying and get down and show me, the customer, how it attaches to the nozzle of the bike. She was certainly a bit less reluctant to pay attention to her husband (?) / boyfriend (?) who dropped by to see her around about this time. They did a bit of huggy huggy, kissy kissy. (At one point she smacked his hand away when he playfully poked her boob) After making no progress with attaching the pump, I tried enlisting her help again. I said "Excuse me" once or twice and got her attention, and she did eventually help me. But right after, she was making "ugh" gestures and wiping the tips of her fingers with the tips of her finger (if you know what I mean), because she had gotten a little dirt on her fingers. You work in a bike store, for Gods sake! Get used to it! (Why are you working in a bike shop and wearing white anyway??) Wont be going there again.

Ive been to most of the bike shops in Manhattan and a few in Queens and Brooklyn, but have never found a more honest, well intentioned bike repairman. I starting going to Andres when I first moved to Sunnyside, just because he was nearby. I guess I got lucky. Now I live in Astoria, just a few minutes away, so I take both my city bike and my high-end road bike to him. He knows what to do with both and provides appropriate advice for each. When I had a back wheel stolen (twice) on my city bike, he found good used wheels that I could purchase for cheap instead of buying new ones. When I came back from a trip to Florida, my bike was boxed. I had taken it to a Metro Bikes and they did a terrible job putting it back together. I brought it to Andres right after (I should have just gone straight to him) and he fixed their errors. The best thing about this place is that you are welcomed as a friend and feel like someone is really taking care of your bike as though it was their own.

I have several high end and rare bicycles, from vintage mountain bikes to vintage and modern road racing bikes, and I ride often and aggressively. The mechanics and owner always know how to work with whatever weird bikes I bring to them. I have had many tune-ups and parts installed, and they always do a thorough and careful job, and get it right the first time. Its a high end shop, and there are always some pretty exotic bikes to be seen around the place. However, there is no snobby attitude, and the owner gives the same attention to people buying and servicing childrens or entry level bikes as those with high end racing bikes. When I have bought bikes and components there I found them to be knowledgeable, and they would always try to find the safest and most suitable item, even if it was less expensive than what I had in mind. They are great at wheel-building as well. I would recommend this shop to any cyclist, of any experience level.

I have bought a Jamis Allegro 1.0 in a newly open store in Glendale (Spokesman Cycles). Since day one I had problems with the bike. I could feel there was something wrong with the bottom bracket. I went to that dealer three times, they could not fix the problem(new store, no experienced mechanics my guess). I got in touch with Jamis Service, and they recomended I should bring my bike to Jamis Authorized Dealer, one of which is Bicycle Repairman Corp in Astoria. I went there and Andreas fixed my bike while I was waiting. He knew what was the problem right away, he just put his foot on the pedal. He explained everything, and gave me some recomendations for the future. Now I will be fixing my bikes at BICYCLE REPAIRMAN ALL THE TIME. FRIENDLY, KNOWLEGABLE EXPERIENCED ROCK SOLID MECHANIC, GOOD MAN ANDREAS. Thank You for Fixing My Ride. ! ! !

I just moved from California to New York and had my old cannondale roadbike shipped to the US in a box. The store reassembled the bike (pickup was less than 24h later) and a gave it a tune-up. So far nothing special. BUT. Two previous bike stores at my previous home in Palo Alto, CA were unable to adjust my bikes front derailleur, telling me it did not fit the bike and I would need a new one. The guys at bicycle repairman fixed this issue with a simple additional metal buckle and did not even mention this to me. I went back the next day to leave the guys $5 extra tip. Quick, efficient, and obviously able to solve your bikes issues; even if you happen to own one that is more than 20 years old like mine. Thanks!

When you go into the store you are greeted by friendly staff that offer to answer you questions without being pushy. Andres is a super-wrench. No tricks no BS. If something can be fix hes "Da Man". I dont think their goal is to just sell bikes but to build relationships with their customers. Thats something I have noticed in the years Ive been going to the store. Their clientele just keeps growing and that can only be achieve with the best service (a rarity these days). If people are willing to travel distances just to get the quality of service (both customer service and repair experience) that says a lot about a business.
