Really deserve 2.5 stars. The price is very fair and cheaper than most if not all places in Brooklyn you also get great quality of work for your buck. A flat tire (inner tube change) cost $13 vs $15-20 that other places charge. If its a minor work and most cases hell talk to you in a way to try to diy it as opposed to other places that would charge you their min labor fee and heck hell even walk you through it (I needed to tighten my tires I didnt want to do it for fear of being able to evenly tighten the tire on both sides but he walked me through it) you can ask him to borrow a wrench and hell lend it to you. The major downside is its cash only and the way he talks and act can rib certain people the wrong way, but as long as you keep in your head that he means well (which I think he does and he has such pride in his work) then youll be fine. The other major issue is bc hes a one man show the shop hours can vary despite whats listed and when the weather starts getting cold. Is like the shop goes on hibernate and he opens it when he feels like it which can be a bit frustrating. Especially if you dont live near.

This is probably the best bike shop Ive been to in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The selection isnt the greatest, but his service and prices are unparalleled. Leroy (owner and only employee) is the best employee Ive dealt with in a bike shop. Those that claim hes "unprofessional" are probably looking for the soulless interactions found at big-box-stores. Sure theyll be dryly cordial with you and answer your questions, but half of those answers are without actual knowledge. When I go in to Bike Life, its more of a personal exchange, where we see eye to eye as human beings, as opposed to a purely financial exchange. This is something that most stores have departed from or unsuccessfully try to replicate. This personal experience comes at the expense of consistent shop hours, but for the most part, hes there when I need him. Additionally, without extra costs of additional employees, his prices are absurdly low. When I say low, I mean my new bike was about 30% cheaper here, than in every other bike store in BK and Manhattan.

Called three days in advance to have a bike I bought online put together. He said he only had time Friday morning and to call him. Called that morning and said who I was and I was coming, said sure come on down.. Got there and he looked at me like I was crazy. Informed him about our talk the days prior. He said he told me I had to call first. I told him I spoke to him 15 minutes ago, and he denied it. Excuse after excuse rambled out of his mouth on Why he couldnt assemble my bike. Up to and including he did not want the "garbage" in his "store", as he pointed to three styrofoam wrappings and zip ties for safe delivery. -Ill take my business elsewhere. -Its called an appointment book bro. -My zip ties and styrofoam wont save you from youre closet-of-a-store looking like a dump already..

wow people really needa grow a pair. youre walking into a closet sized shop off Flatbush, if you came there for the customer service youre in the wrong neighborhood. to be fair i didnt have a 5 star experience. it was raining and when I got there around 4pm and he was already closing up I had to convince him to fix my flat. and he did an awful job, that I will admit. but lets be real here listen, as a customer I get it, when you get a flat in the rain during business hours you wanna know that you can rely on a business to fix it for you. but as someone that works in customer service, I also know that if youre a customer there are always ways for you to get your way. so harden up kids or the streets of the big rude scary city will eat ya up whole

With this proprietors lack of personality, gruff disposition, and inconsistent/erratic operational hours, its no wonder that a tire couldnt get fixed in a timely fashion. The only real questions are 2: why/how are they still open & why arent there any other bike shops in the area? The absolute worst The owners personality is rude, disrespectful, and definitely shouldnt be in business or dealing in any environment where he has to interactive with customers. I went in for air and to find out about a possible tune-up for my bikes (4), I left not wanting to ever do business with that shop in the future. Needless to say, I didnt get any work done, as I was concerned he was going to try and charge me for the air for my tires!

Some people dont like the fellow who runs this shop because he has an actual personality. But if you too have a personality, you will love this place. The owner is a real professional and is really friendly and considerate under his no-nonsense exterior. He knows what hes doing and he will gladly help you with all of your bike needs, even if you do need to be patient in the same ways you would need to be with any small business. It really upsets me to see the bad reviews because I know what kind of world those reviewers want to live in. To judge by some of the neighborhoods around this city, theyre getting their way. Im so glad to have this shop in my neighborhood, because I dont want to take my bike anywhere else.

I had a very unpleasant experience here summer of 2015 & will not return because of quality of work & treatment. My tire was repaired fine (twice) but sloppy work on putting the breaks back on 2nd time... Which caused an incident the following week when I returned to have him fix it. The worst experience Ive ever had in any service place.... Took me back to how unhappy teens behaved in high school. Whatever is going on with this person, its too much for me. If someone is unhappy, grumpy, angry, troubled life whatever, but does good work, the attitude can be overlooked. But I cannot overlook the level of nasty towards me & careless work. Wow! No.

snapsland is right on the money with his review. If you talk to the guy for only a minute his tough/rude persona fades away quickly. I wont pretend that he doesnt come off as rude, but to be honest, a lot of people deserve to be treated rudely the way they so callously want to treat this dude like their personal worker and not a human being. This guy runs the shop by himself and hes always got a lot of work on his hands. This lesson translates to a lot of other aspects of daily life -- treat someone with respect and kindness and youll be surprised how willingly they are to help you.

He is grumpy and sort of rude. When I went there today 4/18/14 and asked him to fix my chain he started yelling at me and asking me whats wrong with it. Then after the chain was fixed, I asked him if he could kindly put a little air in my tire. He got the pump and threw it to me and told me , here blow it up yourself. AND STILL CHARGED ME FOR THE AIR WHEN I HAD TO DO IT MYSELF! However if you get to talk to him a bit I guess he could be a nice guy. With his type of attitude his store wont get a lot of business.
