Training Classes.. 1st class I did with my 4month old lab in october. course is 6 weeks long. went well learned a TON!! not only the dog but I did as well. I could not enroll her into puppy 2 until Mid January because of holiday traveling. turned out they didnt have any puppy 2 until Mid February. I timed it out perfect with 6 week course with the ending of my pregnancy. I spoke to her trainer who no longer trains but is now Manager of the store. She will be 7 months old on Feb 1st. I forgot about that but when there to enroll her Sandy asked how old is she? I said 6 months. She said was perfectly fine with entering the Adult 1 class. I said thats great. I asked when did the next class start? she said this Saturday, I was there on a Tuesday. I missed puppy 2 by a week :( so I paid the $89.99 for the class. Well today is Saturday! I get there and the trainer was so rude to me. Told me my dog was not of age and should not be in Adult 1. She said there is a puppy 2 in Feb. I said yes and I know this I already discussed it with Sandy and she said Mabel was old enough to be in the Adult 1. she said No. then she said this class is Full and turns around and asks the other people if its ok with them if I joined the class. SERIOUSLY!!?? I paid 89.99 like everyone else and this class was not full when I signed the paperwork and paid for it. So I said fine I want my money back she said its ok so I took a seat. As she started she had everyone sign a paper with names of dogs ages and phone numbers. she made a mean comment that said I can usually only fit 5 or 6 people on here but we will have to make due. LMAO when I got the paper it was just a blank white sheet like printer paper. 5 or 6 people on here? Really? at that point I wanted to get up and say ya know what you have made it clear you dont want me here. I want my money back. but I didnt I kept my mouth shut and stayed put. the dog to my right he is a husky and he is 7 months old. now I didnt hear her say anything cocky to her about his age. FINALLY as the class continued I felt cheated because it is all the same exact stuff she learned in Puppy 1. She knows this already and more advanced than the others. I sat there most the time and watched the other dogs learn. I was so mad. my adult 1 homework is the same stuff she learned in the puppy 1. I feel like I got ripped off. name game and sit and come. She is 7 months teach her and work with something she doesnt yet know!! the ONLY PLUS to this is She only had 1 puppy in her class with her and so she didnt get to learn with distractions. I was hoping for more Dogs this time and Im glad there is. plus she is a yellow lab and she is huge compared to the "puppies" people bring there. I wanted her to be around the same sized dogs. she can do all the commands for me but now having all these distractions is a great way for her to listen to me when I give her a command. I was not happy at all with how I was treated today.

The two words that I can use to summarize my experiences with PETCO would most likely be INCOMPETENT and completely UNSATISFACTORY! I cannot speak to the virtues of all of their services, but in concerns to their grooming, they did an absolutely miserable job. After being misquoted prices, guaranteed resolution for their own mistakes (never followed through upon, mind you), and receiving entirely the wrong services from what I requested/paid for, I have given up on them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt on three separate occasions, only to be greatly disappointed every single time. For example, I had to wait an additional 20 minutes to pick up my dog (after they had called me to come get them), because the groomer had not noticed that she had cut the foot of the dog that she was turning over to his owner. With blood speckling the floor, she apologized, chalked it up to a slight oversight (but more appropriately the incompetence factor previously mentioned), I couldnt help but wonder "Where in the hell do they find these individuals?" I had my dogs cut and washed today, and tomorrow I will be taking them to my local groomer to fix all of the mistakes that they made. The local groomers do it better, and for nearly half the cost once you add in the "additional" fees.

Got two small rats here yesterday. They seemed active and happy, although a bit skittish about being held, but I noticed that one was sneezing and coughing and both had diarrhea. I brought them back in today and told them that my pets were sick. First they asked if I wanted to exchange them for different rats (no way! I love these guys) so then they told me about an option: they could buy back the rats and get them treated (no charge to me.) Then I could go buy them back when their treatment was done. I didnt completely trust this store by now-they had sold me sick rats in the first place-so I asked if there was any way I could take them in myself and PetCo could pay the vet bills. They said yes, this was an option, but I had to go to their vet, which wasnt much of a problem. I got to take care of them, right? So Ill be taking them in to the vet tomorrow. Were this rating based solely on customer service, I would have given four or five stars. But given the condition the animals are in, I cant help but give a lower rating. Ill come back for supplies but probably wont be buying animals from here again.

I have given Petco a chance every place I have lived. The new store here in Manhattan is no better. Time and time again, Petco has killed thier livestock due to untrained workers. Even the corals they try to keep alive in their tanks dont have proper lighting equipment to keep them alive. My dog was cut several times from his grooming visit as well. His face has a knick in it, and the inside of his legs around his privates still have red marks everywhere. They didnt want to take the time to brush him so they shaved him completely. I have always blamed it on the individual store. Maybe it didnt have good management. I wont make excuses anymore. It is typical corporate BS. It is not the workers fault. They are not thoroughly trained or given necessary equipment to properly care for many of the livestock. It is a shame. I would hate to guess how many thousands of fish and other animals have been killed as a result. I will never contribute to it again. The Mom and Pop stores have my business from here on out.

I took my Yorkie there today to get a hair cut. I specifically told the groomer...DO NOT SHAVE HER! I even put my dog on the counter and showed her how much I wanted cut off...an hour later I went to get my dog and she was COMPLETELY shaved! The only part that wasnt shaved was her head...they didnt blend the hair at all. It was extremely choppy and uneven. I called PETCO went I got home and talked to the groomer. She had a horrible attitude tords me and wouldnt let me really explain anything to her. She hung up on me -3- times! So finally I went took my dog back to PETCO and demanded a refund! I took the refund and bought my puppy a sweater to keep her warm SINCE SHE HAD NO HAIR!
