I had a very bad first time experience there. I went in to have a simple back tube replaced on my motorized bicycle. I was then told that to hold a lot of weight on the bike I will also need a new tire. Fair enough, these people are professionals and understand bikes. So I end up spending 50 dollars and off I went. However, I ride off from Ride on Sports and right as I pass Youngs Park, the tire blows up. I drag my bike from Youngs Park all the way back to Ride On Sports and find that I will have to leave the bike overnight since the one who changed my tire had just left. I find that the person who replaced the tire was indeed the owner. Fair enough. Next day, I walk in at noon and find that my bike is in the exact same spot that I had left it the previous day. I look and see that the owner is at the counter. He states that it will be ready in an hour or so and that he will "hook me up with a new tire and tube". I then go after work at approx. 5:00 PM and find that my bike is in the back and that the workers have to talk to me about the bike. They inform me that the issue was with the brake pad, as it slipped off and cut into the tire and tube and I will have to pay them another 50 dollars for the tube and tire that is already on the bike. Then, they proceed to tell me that since it is a motorized bike that they cannot warranty their work. Let me say that again, THE OWNER CANNOT WARRANTY HIS OWN WORK. I have been working on my bike for approx. a month and always double-checked my brakes. I would assume that a professional would double-check his work. The worker calls the owner and AS A COURTESY, will give me my tube and tire for FREE. I will not give this business a second chance, and it doesnt matter anyway since they will not warranty any work they do on my "custom bike".

We would give zero stars if that were possible through Google reviews. Very disappointed in with our experience at Ride On Sports, Las Cruces. Like most other unfavorable reviews, the recurring theme with this business revolves around terrible customer service and deceptive business practices. For us, we purchased a used bike for our 5 year old and were told multiple times by the employees and the owner that we could install training wheels on the bike. That turned out to be untrue. The next day we returned to the store to inquire about training wheels, and were told that they could not install them on the bike unless we purchased additional items; which would have cost nearly 70 percent of what we paid for the bike. When we told them that we bought the bike based on their assurance(s), they told us that they would only give us store credit, but would not refund our money, even though we returned the bike. (The owner, David, took this position even though we bought the bike the day prior, had not used it, and were never told that sales on used equipment are final. In fact, their store receipt doesnt even communicate that to customers.) We are now in a position that we will have to fight with David to get our money back. Given that this business relies on a very small, and loyal community, I find it very hard to believe that Ride On Sports will stay in business under this owner/management for very much longer. Even though it appears that others have been stuck with the bill and have been left in an unfortunate position of not getting what they paid for, it will be our pleasure to make sure Ride On Sports is held accountable for this one.

Save your money and your time and take your business elsewhere. These guys will lie, cheat and steal your money out of you. I paid nearly $30 for a tube and labor in addition to a $50 tune up (charges were not even clear on the receipt, something like two $40 charges with three 40% discounts, item unnamed). They didnt even bother to wipe down my bike during the tune up, cant be sure they even serviced it, except the chains are a little less grimy. They sold me a "heavy duty" tube when I specifically said I did not want foam or anything that would ooze out if it got too hot or I got a hole in the tire. Of course, you could imagine my surprise when I returned from a 6 week vacation and got my bike out to go for a ride for the first time since it had been serviced, and as soon as I checked my tire pressure it started oozing green foam! I went in and they told me it was because the tube had "sealant" (not foam), something they forgot to mention when selling me the $20 tube! Something you think might be important when I specifically stated I didnt want any foamy stuff oozing out???! Not only that, but they treated me like it was my fault for not knowing the tube had a sealant and that it might ooze out gooey foamy stuff, made no apologies and were generally very rude. BAD BAD BAD Customer Service and BAD Bike Service!!!!

Stopped in to replace a spoke on my cross country bicycle tour. I decided to replace my pitted out headset too. The spoke replacement turned out fine, but Im not impressed with their sloppy work. The threaded headset came loose within 30 miles. Unfortunately, I couldnt tighten it up until the end of my ride, 75 miles. By the time I was able to wrench it down, the replacement headset was already pitted out. Now Ive once again got a bad headset and Im $25 poorer. Ive never seen a properly adjusted threaded headset come loose in 30 miles. Otherwise, my stem height was not set back in the same spot and also left crooked, the rim with the replaced spoke wasnt cleaned, and the presta valve nut was only halfway screwed on. Why even bother putting it on? I didnt ask for it, but it is always nice to come back to a lubed chain as well. Needless to say, a little disappointed.

Went in after a hike to buy a headlight, which I mistakenly called a flashlight. Rep corrected me with a snarky, condescending tone which persisted for the rest of the interaction, even down to swiping my debit card and an emphasis on seeing "if" it goes through. Dude was bragging about how much more he knows than his fellow co-workers while Im comparing specs on various models. No one cares how much you know if you cant deliver good customer service. You might be in the wrong line of work. Ive heard horrors stories about this place and I cant help but agree. I will be taking my business to Outdoor Adventure. First and last time shopping here. Hopefully this thing isnt defective so I can avoid going back.

The whole staff at Ride On Sports is Awesome! Not sure if it has anything to do with Davids (Owner) training or if he just lucked out and got very competent employees. Im a Do-it-yourself kind of guy. I figure if someone can do something so can I. That usually works but when it comes to the finishing touches on bikes, no one and nothing does it better than David. The guy is a genius when it comes to bikes! He carries a TON of outdoor gear for most sports. Not the kind of crap that you find at K-mart or Walmart but true, high quality stuff. If youre in the need of anything to do with outside sports be sure to visit Ride On Sports! Tell David that Adam sent ya, hell give you a 20% discount!
