I played on a Tuesday in mid-August, 62 degrees, just a whisper of wind & mostly cloudy skies, under the twilight rate. Id always wanted to play the Countrys highest golf course (approx 9,300 ft), to really see what elevation did to the carry of my ball (I found it to be about a solid club less than usual). Although youre located high in the Rockies, the course is exceptionally flat and, thus, very walkable. If the altitude isnt really bothering you on the flats, a pull-cart is perfect, of which they have plenty. Ive read that because its only a 9-hole course that things can get pretty slow. Fortunately for me, the course wasnt packed. Nonetheless, it wasnt fast by any means. That said, being in such a beautiful area, having some extra time to enjoy the views was fine by me. The course is very short (6,117 from the back) & I thought played a little tougher than its back tees 68.6/120 rating/slope (Im a 3-4 hdcp). The holes seem to be designed to either offer a challenging tee-to-green with an easy green set-up or an easy tee-to-green with a crazy green set-up. At the end of the day, I was very happy I got a chance to experience our Countrys highest golf course. If youre not expecting a Cherry Hill CC challenge or service, its absolutely a few hours well spent. (I played 9 & shot 38, which I was very happy with)

As the highest golf course in North America, I understand the challenge of maintaining a high altitude course. However, this course has rates that do not reflect the quality of the others around. The "muffin top" greens can ruin your perfect tee shot. Small, fast, and ridiculously hard, the greens will challenge you and are clearly the gem of this course. But, the course does not provide water for golfers. They do provide bottled water for a dollar. That is wrong! All in all, play it to enjoy the views and for bragging rights but dont expect much.

Hard to beat this course: clean mountain air, smell of pine trees, Mt. Massive for a backdrop, and nine holes of pure fun! Highly recommended - highest in the country, as a matter of fact!
