Ski Cooper is a family friendly ski resort. According to many Ive talked to, its what ski resorts in Colorado used to be before the rampant commercialization of the sport. The instructors are great; last season was my first time skiing and Seitheach (Shay-ock) had me up and skiing in no time. The cafe is a little pricey, but one can circumvent that by bringing snacks/meals and eating upstairs in the "brown bag" eating area. Rentals are a great price and the lift tickets cant be beat. The location is a bit out of the way (54 miles beyond A-Basin), but the lack of crowds and the beautiful scenery more than make up for it! And, after a day of skiing, one can enjoy a great priced steak in Leadville at Quincys. To summarize: * Great prices (best in Colorado) * Great location to remove the crowds * Great instructors * Great scenery * (Fill in the blank when you agree with this review)

Wow. And I mean wow! This has been my absolute favorite Colorado ski resort ever. Im an intermediate and I often find the bigger places are a little too crowded and dont have the best green runs. The powder was soft. The lift lines took a minute on average. It was awesome. Now, a few cons (if you can call them that): The lifts are ***slow***. Now, because you arent waiting it kind of evens out. And the runs are pretty long. It didnt bother me at all. Also, what they call greens are super easy, and the blues could be called greens. I didnt try any blacks but from what I could tell those looked more like blues. If youre looking for tough terrain I hear there is a pretty neat back bowl you can get to with the ridge cats.

Came here as a family and had two kids who had never skied before. It was perfect. We had such a good time and didnt have to stress about spending SO much money like at the mega resorts. Lift tickets are about $50 for adults and $30 for kids. They also have two for one deals so call and ask. The staff is super friendly! We never waited in line once and had fresh powder and open slopes. Got the kids into ski school which was very good and affordable. They were skiing by the end of the day. The views are wonderful and the slopes were very open. This is skiing the way it once was. I could not recommend this more highly. Just dont bring too many people and ruin it for the rest of us ;)!

First time here yesterday and I absolutely loved everything about this place. Im a beginner skier (Ive only been three times) and Im not really into it yet so spending a lot of money on skiing is a waste for me. Not only is the price terrific, but I loved the small crowd and rustic feel of cooper. it was enjoyable to go down a run without worrying about running into someone or being cut off by someone much more advanced than me. I loved being able to drive right up to the lodge, and not having to wait for a shuttle. The views were breathtaking. Never again will I go to one of those big resorts. Cant wait to go back!

Ski Cooper is a jewel. It isnt the biggest or steepest or longest. It IS, however, a landmark in skiing history. It was a training area for the famed 10th Mountain Division during WWII. Many of those soldiers went on to found other ski areas and develop ski products, contributing to the rich ski heritage that we enjoy in Colorado. A first rate ski school, an active competition department and fine natural snow are just some of the reasons to visit this locally owned and operated testament to the power of skiing to add life to our lives.

Our family stays in Breckenridge, but comes here every winter because of the family friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and affordable prices for lift tickets as well as rentals. Who can afford to ski at the conglomerates anymore with a family of 5 or more?? No long walks or shuttles to get to the slopes - parking lot is right there!! Lifts are a little slow, but terrain is good. Kids can go off on their own and not get lost. 5+ for price, convenience, atmosphere and slopes. I recommend it to other families.

It doesnt have as much to do as Copper Mtn. Or Vail, but its still a wonderful place to ski. If you go there for the first time, I suggest getting a private lesson for ages 10 and up and Panda patrol for ages 9 and under. Once again, Ski cooper is wonderful. Its a bit of a drive if you stay in Leadville, but its worth it. Ski Cooper is cheap and its really good. Cooper is small and its hard to lose family unless they move around.

Our entire family of 4 were "never evers" this winter (2011-2012 season). We chose Ski Cooper for the quieter, family-friendly atmosphere. Great people. Fun lessons. Daycare, food, ski shop....rentals...loved our first season in the snow. Reasonable pricing, and we did their 3-lesson pass programs. Cant say enough good things about Ski Cooper.

Got lost one year trying to take the back way to Vail. Dumped into Ski Cooper having never heard of it, but desperate because of time. Couldnt believe there was a resort with so much powder and so few people for a fraction of the prices of other places. This could possibly be the most underrated resort in the country. Try it, youll like it!

Monarch was turning people away after getting a bunch of fresh powder and being overcrowded so we ended up coming here. I had a blast! It wasnt jam-packed with people and the conditions were great. It was a good opportunity for brushing up on my snowboarding technique. Theres nothing pretentious about this place-just good clean fun.

This place is excellent for beginners wanting to save a little money. The lifts were great, the lines were short, and the people were friendly. We came during peak season (days after Christmas), and it was not at all crowded. We didnt wait in line long at all. If youre just learning to ski, this is a great place to visit!!!

I had a Great time at ski cooper, the only thing I would say is when I was riding down the slopes, the workers popped out the bushes and started to throw snowballs at me. Once I crashed, the workers dragged me into the bushes and had there way with me for the rest of the day. Other than that, I had a excellent time!

Ski Cooper was awesome, loved the fresh powder on some runs as opposed to the solid ice Ive had at other resorts. Longest I waited for a lift was maybe 30 seconds! Although a little small, had a blast! Signage could be a little more clear for first time visitors to know where to go

Great conditions. Small but has a little bit of everything from groomed and ungroomed runs, trees, greens, blues, and blacks. Most aee easier than you would expext for level of difficultly though. Bring your own food though! Small terrian park with rail boxes.

Best family ski area and a Local favorite! Affordable and rarely have to wait in a lift line. Bar is cozy and warm. Dont expect a resort! This is a simple ski lodge with a historic past. Very family friendly but also popular with singles and young people.
