Based on the reviews and my own personal experience this is very much a "depends on who you get" type of store. If you notice some people have said they received horrible customer experience some have said it was great. Just today I was in and spoke to three employees while I was there. Two were positive and one was extremely negative. I noticed after walking around for a bit that the bottle of hardware paste that I was purchasing apparently was opened by someone else or not sealed properly. I got nasty silver paste all over my hands. I asked the guy in what I think was the paneling department for a tissue to get this off of my hands and he was very helpful and also suggested I return the bottle to hardware and get a new one. I went back to hardware to grab a new bottle and there happened to be two employees right next to me so I mentioned that one of the bottles seemed to be partly opened and that I got the paste all of my hands and was grabbing another bottle. I very politely pointed this out to avoid another customer from getting their hand full of silver paste. The old guy in hardware not only didnt apologize for the mess I had to deal with but didnt thank me for pointing out the bottle and even went so far as to blame ME for opening the bottle. Yes, this actually happened. "Oh, you opened it" he said. No I did not open it I was simply trying to be a nice person and avoid a future customer ending up with a handful of silver paste and he blames ME. If you stop at this store good luck. You never know if youll get a nice person or a piece of work like the hardware guy I ran into tonight.

Menards made me a Home Depot Customer for life. Walked into the new store figuring I would try it out. All I needed was an 8 6"x6". Walked in the front door trying to find the lumber section, I walked in the main entrance and ended finding a door that said lumber yard, tried to stop the same employee twice that came in from the lumber yard to ask for help and he just ignored me twice. So I figured you must just drive around back to the lumber yard, so I did. Found out from the guy from the gate of the lumber yard that I need a packing slip. So I walked back in to the back of the store, and as I was waiting in line to get my packing slip for my timber I noticed that they have six registers with 2 people working them and had 4 employees at the same time just chatting away behind the registers while there was at least 8 people in line. So I had to wait at least 20mins for my packing slip. So then I drove around again to the yard with my packing slip and found out that I needed a receipt. So I had to walk back in again and pay for it, and drive around again for a 3rd time. This should have taken at the most 10mins for me to get my timber, but instead it took almost 45mins. This store is completely mismanaged and does not follow their slogan at all "dedicated to service & quality." Oh and I will add that all of their 8 6"x6" timbers were warped. NEVER GO TO THIS STORE, YOU WILL REGRET IT!

I had to write a review after reading the negative ones below. We loved the old store, especially the elevator where you could look outside. We loved the creaky old floors too. I dont like the new, glossy store for nostalgia reasons, but I have never had problems with any of the employees. And now there is more stuff to fit everyones needs. During one of my first trips to the new store, I was looking for some traps for a mouse that found a way into our house. I asked where the traps were and this employee took the time to go over all the choices they had and gave me some insight into his experience with mice and other bothersome critters. Also, my family and I love to go there for the after Thanksgiving sale. We look forward to finding all the treasures in the ad. This year was our first year to go to the new Menards store and thought possibly it wouldnt be as much fun. Well, the lines were just as long, but went much faster, and the treasures were hidden well enough to make the hunt interesting. Every employee we spoke with was courteous and informed about where everything was stocked. I still wish they had the old store up and running, but I understand it was probably in need of some major repairs and had to be updated. But I like Menards and will continue to shop there.

Horrible - placed an order in the store with Alex in Plumbing for 2 custom vanity tops on May 11, 2017. I specifically asked if I needed to sign anything or pay a down payment; he said no. He told me it would be 10-14 days. Later than day he emailed me a confirmation from their vendor that they received the order form and everything looked good for the first vanity top. It had an extra $30.00 charge on it, so I asked him to follow-up. On May 12, I received email back from Menards regarding confirmation from their vendor on the 2nd vanity top. I never received any correspondence - email or call since May 12th. Today, May 26th, I called to follow-up on when my vanity tops would arrive, as I have scheduled someone for installation this weekend. I was told by Alex that unfortunately the order had never been placed. When I asked about follow-up, he said "someone" should have given me a call regarding the placement of the actual order. Two weeks !!! I waited two weeks, and expected the vanity tops to be in any day. This is totally unacceptable, and although Ive been a loyal customer of Menards, I wont be going back, they have lost my familys business. I would give them zero stars, if this review process allowed that.

Menards is a good store. I go to both the EP and the SLP store, all I have to remember is that they are flip flopped. The size is massive, and I prefer the smaller stores, but I am adjusting. I find the customer service to be fine, if I dont get the answer I need from the first person I come to, I do not get mad, I find another person. Not every minimum wage employee is going to be able to answer every one of your questions on home repair. Also, Menards is a discount store, you have to take some of your own responsibility to be sure that what you are buying is complete (see washer above) and you are ready for whatever project you are doing. It would be like buying the plywood to do a roof, and then being upset that they didnt magically deliver shingles. Some of you need to hire contractors or handymen. I myself prefer the fact that the prices are held low, and the selection is large.

I spend just under $900 and paid $69 for delivery on a washer. I was not told that I would have to do half the work involved with this machine that weights over 200 lbs. Because of a tight corner on my stairs it had to be lifted manually down the stairs. I also helped install it, when it was almost complete the delivery guy asked if the the drain hose was in the washer. I said no. We had to contact the store. It was confirmed that I needed to buy the intake hoses for the water (which I had) but it should have came with the drain hose. I was told that I would have to come to the store and pick it up. The store is 19 miles away. I told her that I lived a ways away. She replied "yes I see that". She said it would take another delivery fee because their deliveries are done by a 3rd party and that it would be waiting at the desk for my arrival. This is ridiculous.
