I highly recommend looking elsewhere before you shop at Menards. We went to Menards in Buffalo and ordered the pre-assembled vinyl fence, post kits and cement. We also payed to have it delivered and here is where the problems start. We ask if it could be delivered sooner in the morning rather than later and they said that wouldn’t be a problem. On delivery day at 9 am I had not heard from anyone so I called the delivery company and was told that they would be there about noon, When I ask about the early delivery I was told no one had informed them it needed to be delivered early in the morning. When I finally showed up the driver put it in my drive way and be began to place things out and verify we had anything. We found out they had shorted us 2 fence sections and 2 post kits. I called the store and they said that we knew about the shortage. I explained we originally wanted 19 sections and they only had 17, so we went to a different store to get the items that would be short before the delivery. The manager John said he would look into it and get back to me. Then we went back to building and my wife discovered that 6 of the post kits were not complete which would make it impossible for us to complete building the fence. Then as continued building we found that they delivered 2 different types of fence sections, which do not line up, the difference is small but defiantly different. Again we called john and he said he would look into it and get back to us. We returned to building the fence with what we had that lined up. John finally called back and ask me to provide him the measurements of the fence section we wanted. I gave him the measurements a s well as pointing out that the labels on the fence section were very clear as to the measurements and the model name. We ran out of the correct material and cleaned up, John called us back again said that he found the correct remaining and they would be delivered tomorrow. We had to keep the auger, post hole digger and associated bits and extensions at over $120/day. At 9:00 the next morning the missing gear showed up and we returned the incorrect items. We returned to building the fence and completed it. When I returned a few bags of cement I spoke with a manager and was told if I had a complaint was to put it in writing. I finally put it in writing and emailed the complaint to customer service. I got an email reply that said they were sorry for the issued I had experienced but the email was going to be forwarded to Mr. Dahl the GM of Buffalo. NO ONE ever contacted me, I waited a week. I finally called and got a hold of Mr. Dahl and was able to talk to him. He offered a couple of apologies especially I had explained I would not be using Menards when it came to adding another bath to our home. I said that as a minimum it would be nice if they reimbursed me for the extra day of rental that I had incurred because they were late delivering the material and each phone call I made to inform John of the incorrect gear took up on average 20 minutes which delayed us even more. I was told that he could give me a discount if I came in and spent more money, but was not informed how much of a discount would be offered. I don’t feel that Mr Dahl, Menards customer service was able to comprehend the amount of frustration that we were experiencing because of Menards errors. These errors cost us time, time of our friends who were helping and money but was only offered an unknown discount if we spent more money. I have tried to consolidate this, my story, it was a long ordeal and frustration, Look elsewhere or if you have to use them go over everything with great detail, verify they have the right amounts and items before you have it delivered. Home Depot & Lowes I will be visiting you soon.

I work for a small hardware store and my recent experience with Menards has reiterated how important taking care of a customer is, or you may loose them. My husband and I are big DIYers and have been redoing our entire house ourselves. We have always been extremely loyal to Menards and you can imagine the thousands of dollars we have spent there over the past two years. We recently were at the Buffalo location and had accidentally forgot a bag of items at the checkout. We realized it shortly after leaving and were back at the store within 15 minutes to claim our items. After speaking with the store manager, she reviewed footage from the cameras and the lady after us had taken our bag of items. The manager told us we would have to re-purchase the items we just bought. This rubbed both myself and my husband the wrong way. The store manager said it was policy because we had walked out of the building. I emailed Menards customer service about two weeks ago and have yet to hear a response. It has left a sour taste in our mouth. Since then, we have switched doing our business with Home Depot and Lowes.

The Buffalo MN Manager tried and was very nice. The product was terrible and the the Dahl tile company was even worse to work with, they get a negative 10. Menards in Eau Claire was as bad as the tile company, the Menards I used to work with is now gone. I asked to talk to a liver person and they hung up on me. So much for customer service

As a contractor they have excellent contractor sales which allows me to get the best price on materials the best quality in materials for my customers and they are friendly when my customers come in to talk to them about the project we are doing. Their customer sales is excellent as far as from my point of view is a contractor
