I recently purchased $500 worth of tile for a project I am working on and decided to rent a wet masonry saw to cut the tile. Although I didnt know it at the time the worker failed to give me the water bucket needed to run the water hose on the saw. I was able to work around this by using a 5 gallon bucket of water and putting the water hose in the bucket with water. When I went to return the saw the following day I was accused of stealing the water bucket that the poorly trained employee failed to give me. Not only was I accused of stealing it but was also forced to wait for the customer service workers to watch security footage from the previous day to confirm that I did not steal the water bucket. After this experience I emailed corporate Menards to inform them of the incident. They apologized and forwarded my email onto the store manager who failed to respond to me for nearly a week. I emailed corporate Menards a second time and got a response from the store manager a few hours later with a half hearted apology and overall lack of caring. Horribly trained employees, terrible customer service that starts at the store manager and continue through to the minimum wage employees who dont even know what accessories need to be checked out with their rental equipment. I will never shop here again and I suggest others avoid it as well. Horrible. Simply Horrible.

Management at this store is utterly useless. I had an undelivered rebate check stolen most likely by a USPS employee and I was told at the store that I wouldnt be out the money. Weeks went by, stopped back in, the store admitted that they shouldve checked the ID of the person using my check however they offered nothing to make matters right. I dont think it is out of line to ask for the amount stolen and used at their stole because of the employee/management negligence to know how to enforce company policy, let alone know what company policy is. Almost $200 down the drain for me, and they dont care at all. You think a $200 gift card when they acknowledged they were at fault and saw the stolen check redeemed on camera, they would try to make matters right.

I recently purchased a gift card for as a birthday gift at Menards 9/12/09. When my friend tried to use it. The card didnt work (I find this embarrassing). I guess this is common. My friend called to tell me the card didnt work. I pulled up my bank statement and called the store , 9/17/09.I talked to a lady"manager" at the Mankato store who told me she couldnt do anything and told me it was my fault for not having the receipt. I had to argue with the lady because mankato had charged my card and she continued to say they didnt. When I threated to call my bank for a fraudulant charge she magically found the receipt in the system. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. I shop at Menards often and will be switching my business to Lowes. Sally K

Have always shopped at Menards but the shine is wearing off. While most people must love rebates-I do not! Just put the stuff on sale. My biggest gripe is their so-called "special order" items. In my opinion, if you have to "order" something that is in their sales ad and they dont have it(for example a sander) that is NOT special order. If you order something online that is not pre-cut(counter top, roofing, etc...) that is NOT special order. I have purchased something twice that was not good quality and when trying to return it, was told its "special order" and is subject to 25% restock fee. Customer service is generally good-except for some psycho front line "manager" chick who I thankfully have not seen lately.

I just recently purchased a Preformax Tool Chest from Menards. Since then, I came to the conclusion of needing extra storage, I need to purchase a 3 or 4 drawer cabinet to add to my chest. I have been told to check with Preformax and see about the available matching size, I need to match my current chests. I am unable to contact Preformax... via on-line or by phone. Hence, I need assistance. My size is 12" deep and 31 3/4 wide (black color). What can you do to provide this purchase? Or, how do I go about making this purchase on my own? No one at the store tool dept. could give me answers to the above questions.

If I could give this store a 0 I would. We have been loyal Menards customers for years. We ordered thousands of dollars of new kitchen cabinets and received the wrong one. Spoke to management and nothing happened. They had a sale on counter tops so we ordered through them. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I went to pick them up by myself (enter 5 3" woman). I had to load the counter tops by myself!! And then, they forgot to give me the installation kit and one piece of the counter top. I live 45 minutes away and made a special trip up there. Management once again did nothing. This is your warning: DO NOT EVER SHOP HERE!!!

The return policy is a joke. While buying for a project I put $500 on a menards card, $500 cash, and $420 on my visa. I returned a little over $400 back, and they only let me put it on my menards card, even though it was already paid off. When asked why I couldnt put it back on my visa, Bob the GM told me that they use this hiarchy in order to offset their expenses with having the cards. I should be able to return on any tender that was used, this is a joke. Now I have to go back to use this $400 credit they put on my card. There is basically no insentive to ever use the menards card again.

I was in the mankato menards with a large plumbing project and not much knowledge. I went back to the plumbing section a found a man named Jake that walked through everything i needed and how to do it. He spent an hour helping me out. He gave me the best customer service ive had in a long time. Plus the store usually has everything i need and their customer service people have knowledge in the sections the work. I only shop at menards

All Im trying to do is check and see if these goons sell the dog food I need, and Ive been hung up on THREE times. Randy, the operations manager, was extremely rude on the phone before he hung up each time. Ive had so many bad experiences with this Menards, its ridiculous.

Members of the flooring department went out of their way to make sure I got what I needed, took my carpet purchase to the check out and even took it to my pick up truck and loaded it for me. Much better service than I have experienced at other stores. Thank you.

I was very disappointed in the service in the back lumber yard. I asked the young lady at the drive up 3 times if they had a stapler that worked all 3 times she ignored us.
