Where do I begin. Things began to go south when I scheduled my delivery. I had no problem with them saying my table and chairs wouldnt be available for a few weeks because they werent currently available. So we set the date for 3 weeks out. 2 and 1/2 weeks later I get a call saying that my delivery "missed getting on the truck". Whatever that means. This is where my frustration really began. I had cleared my Saturday morning specifically for this delivery and now it wasnt coming and Id have to try to find anoter day that works. I work in a hospital so my schedule switches days and evenings quite often making it even harder to schedule a deliviery. So I rescheduled my delviery for Wednesday morning as early as possible because I had a shift starting at noon. They assured me Id be the first delivery. Wednesday morning around 9:30am I get a call that there are some issues with the trucks and they are running hours behind. Now Im very irritated because another morning of mine has been wasted waiting on value city. We reschedule for the next day after 4pm becuase I work in the morning this day. After much aggravation I finally get the table and chairs on time and I though this saga would finally come to an end. Low and behold, they didnt pack the hardware for the table legs so someone would have to bring it from the store. The store is only 5 minutes away from my house so I thought it would be a quick deal. The guys who brought the table over left and assured me someone else would be right over. This all occured around 4:30pm. It is now after 6pm and after calling talking ot the manager and several people who keep saying he is on his way I still do not have hardware to end this dreadful saga. Long story short....Do yourself a favor dont shop at this store unless you can pick it up yourself and the deal is too good to pass up. The management is terrible and not concerned at all with the type of service they deliver. One manager told me we get calls like this daily. (This is a big hint that either the process or the peopole running the place are incompetent and dont have a clue. If your dealing with upset customers all the time something is wrong.) Stay out of this store...go to ArtVan or Gardner White. Ive bought from both and never had these kind of issues. Lesson learned P.S.....Still waiting on my hardware

If you are planning to buy furniture from Value City, Novi outlet then think twice. I would say look for other options. If you have to buy from them document every word of the sales person. A video recording right from the start till the end of your visit probably is a good idea. When we bought the furniture we were also sold an expensive protection plan along with it. Little we knew it was just protection for them not the customer. The furniture no doubt was a poor quality but we only realized it later. When we contacted the customer service , we were told the plan only would cover the accidental damages not the poor quality fabric. The customer service person by name Cindy, was so rude she did not even allow me to talk. While selling the plan we were told that plan would not cover any accidental damages but only the premature tearing / burning or peeling of fabric. As a matter of fact, the sales person even said to take care of the fabric since the plan would not cover any damages caused by user. I guess to sell they mislead the customer based on the experience that most customers do not check fine prints on the plan documentation. This very fact protects them from legal actions but they dont realize it is not 1990. The customer can reach up to many potential customers to warn them of unethical practices. Our furniture had accidental damages but they ruled it as natural peel off just by looking at a photograph. I wish I could post that picture here which clearly show it is not a natural peel off; yet they denied our right. I will be contacting the higher management to resolve this issue. Results will be posted here 11/16/16 - Some one from Value city responded to this review and I sent them an email with all details. However, it looks like this was only an attempt to fool people. Its now over 15 days I did not even get a response let alone resolving the issue.

DO NOT SHOP HERE....RUN. Go anywhere but VCF. I had a horrible experience from delivery forward. I have been shopping at VCF for well over 20 years, spent 10s of $1000s, but that stopped on Dec of 2016. I purchased a sectional for Christmas, my family was hosting this past year......and its 3 months later and Im still waiting on the remaining pieces of furniture to be delivered. Ive been told one thing after the other, the excuse changes depending on the day. Ive watched promised dates come and go and Im terribly disappointed. It started the day of delivery. Without any warning or permission these two delivery guys completely tore down an in-ground basketball system that we purchased and had installed for my 7 yo just months prior. Whats even more puzzling is the fact that the basketball hoop was nowhere in the path of entry so I have no idea why the need to even attempt to move it. I even asked a number of times if they needed any help because they had the door propped open in the middle of winter for close to 20 min. It wasnt until I came out the house asked what in the world they were doing before they realized it was cemented into the ground. They brought out tools and rocked it for so long it eventually flexed and had to be dismantled and removed. This is just the beginning, shortly after the two men and no brain ran out as fast as they could. I noticed after having to assemble the sectional MYSELF, that I didnt get all the pillows that were supposed to come with it. I have tried reaching out to the store with empty promises...the entire experience has been horrible. The sofa isnt anything like I wanted because the look is incomplete. I have no idea what to do but to continue to reach out. I at the least want to warn others and prevent this from happening to anyone else. So disheartening..

They are a cheap store, so yeah their stuff is lesser quality. But do you want to spend a grand on a bedroom set or four or five? I think they are directly comparable to art van except art vans service is terrible. I havent had any issues with value citys service except everything does take time. The only really annoying part is if you need service they give you a day and then they call two days before with a time window. If the window doesnt work for you you have to reschedule for a couple weeks later. Ive never had issues rescheduling but it all takes time. We got a five piece king size bedroom set, a five piece leather sectional and a six piece dining table. I am happy with all of them. We got their current promo which included free delivery and 0% interest for 12 months and their extended warranty plans when buying this much stuff are not very expensive, like 10% of total price or less. One of our chairs on the dining set chipped and they came and fixed it for free no questions asked. Our sales person wasnt pushy at all, which I have not found to be the case at art van. Also art vans stuff is similar quality but a lot more expensive on the showroom. Only their gigantic sales or clearance items are worth getting there.
