I wanted to let you know about the extreme dissatisfaction I have with my experience with Art Van today. Last weekend (7/17/15) I shopped at your Novi location for a dining table, chairs and a couch. After working with a wonderful salesperson who I thoroughly enjoyed, I selected a great couch, beautiful reclaimed wood table and four dining chairs. After anxiously awaiting their arrival for 2 hours and taking the day off of work to ensure I was there for delivery my items arrived in unacceptable condition. The first issue was with two of the chairs; both were scratched within plain sight to the eye. With this, I was told a service repair person would need to come out and assess the chairs. After the assessment there would be yet another delivery I would have to wait for at a later date. The second issue was the table; after the delivery man took the packaged legs off of the bottom and attempted to affix them, he realized that the screws were not large enough. The man graciously went to the truck to try and find something that would work, but was unsuccessful. With this, it was declared a “manufacturer defect” and I was told a new table would have to be ordered. Lastly, after the couch had been unpacked and assembled, the third issue occurred I realized that the seam was not stitched properly, and I was told that I would need to have a service repair person come out to my house. Out of the six pieces delivered (couch, table, 4 chairs) only two of the chairs were items that did not need additional replacement or care. This is unacceptable. Being a new and first time home owner this was my first experience shopping at Art Van. I was more than excited to spend my money with your company as you have had a great reputation in the area and I thought that the items I purchased would have been perfect. Unfortunately this was not the case and not even the customer service experience was positive after all these issues. The driver was nice enough to call for the service to be fixed with these issues, but as I got on the phone with the woman setting up the new appointment, she was rude, unapologetic for the inconvenience and offered no help to rectify the situation or make the terrible experience any better. As a new home owner, if this experience had been better you would have had my business for many years to come, furnishing additional rooms, homes, etc. But after this experience I cannot imagine trusting Art Van with any additional purchases in the future if the quality of the items is going to be this horrible. I feel as though I mistakenly spent almost $2,000 on worthless items—not a good feeling as a young professional starting their career. Overall I am not impressed, plan to share my experience with others so that they do not have to deal with these same issues when they shop for their first home’s furniture and at this point want either compensation for my wasted time and now three days needed to take off of work for service or a partial refund on the items I’ve purchased.

I special ordered my couches in March 2014 with an understood 13-14 week delivery time. It took nearly a month beyond that time frame. I was supposed to have a 15-minute call ahead before delivery so I could leave work and meet them at my house. They called me when they were in my driveway and sounded irritated that they had to wait for me to get there. When they delivered my furniture, it was pouring rain and neither of the delivery drivers (one of which was cussing like a sailor including the "F" word multiple times right in front of me) had the common courtesy to cover my brand new LEATHER furniture up to protect it from the rain. It was completely exposed to the elements. They were having trouble getting it to fit thru my doorway so they were just standing outside with my futniture getting poured on while they were trying to figure something out. I asked if they had anything in the truck they could be using to protect my stuff and they said no, so I had to grab every towel in my linen closet to cover it up myself! The couches were supposed to be delivered with some throw pillows that were included -- they were not. Despite numerous calls to my sales associate, most of which were never returned, and even speaking with a Manager, it is now October 2014 and I STILL dont have the pillows for my new couches. Theyre PILLOWS!!! How hard can it be?!?!?! I will NEVER step foot into the Art Van store in Novi ever again, and I hope you dont either. Save yourself the frustration. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Once they have your money youre on your own -- worst customer service ever!

We bought a desk from Art Van over the weekend. The salesperson did a great job. Because the desk is pretty large, we elected to pay the $80 for delivery and set-up. In total, we spent almost $950 for the desk, so it was not cheap. The desk was delivered yesterday. Unfortunately, the delivery guys installed the hutch to the desk improperly and failed to put the knobs on the desk drawers. The hutch is supposed to be centered on the desk (it is the only was it fits), yet somehow the delivery guys managed to attach the hutch so it hangs off of one side of the desk. Were now forced to work with Art Vans service department to fix the problem, which means that we will need to have someone home (again) during the day to fix something that never should have been messed up to start with. Im scratching my head wondering why we paid $80 for the delivery/set-up. We just called Art Vans service department, and no one can come out to fix the problem for 6 days! So now we need to wait 6 days to use the desk that was made unusable by Art Vans delivery team! Totally ridiculous! Weve ordered a lot of furniture from other companies before and have never seen such poor delivery/set-up service!! Absolutely horrible! The lesson that we learned is to never go to Art Van again! We should have shopped at a quality furniture store. We will not make the same mistake again!

Buyers beware! I hate this place so much Im actually writing a review lol. I would give negative stars if possible. Where do I even start. They follow u around dont even give u time to shop. When it comes to what u want they try to make a choice for u. When it comes to quotes they cant provide written quotes. They do everything off the cuff. They use outdated software and say they cant provide printed written documents bc prices can change day to day? I run a business and have a engineering degree. I cant believe these people actually conduct business this shady as they do. So my dumbass is so busy I decide to make a purchase instead of shopping around. I give them thousands of $ for 6 weeks, my balance is only a few hundred. They said they cant deliver until the balance is paid. I said Ill pay when I receive it and inspect my merchandise, couple hundred no big deal. They refused and said they cant do that, if I want to cancel they want 25% of my $. I told them they will not take 25% and they need to do the right thing and drop it off and Ill pay. She hung up on me. People never go here, theres even more I can write. But put it this way. If u dont want to get screwed over dont go here!!!! I have a wide network of business partners and industry leaders in metro Detroit so they will get hurt from this in the long run
