WORST Experience Ever, my bike was riding Perfect until My Husband and I took it into the Family Bike Shop in Crofton, to have a water bottle holder placed on it, they said sure then placed my bike on the stand and convinced us that it needed just a " little fine Tuning" We decided to leave it for a couple of days so that they could make the minor repairs. When my husband returned to pick up my bike he finds they had completely disassembled my bike, and stated that it could not be repaired ; but offered to sale us one of their bikes instead . I had never been so disgusted in my life (with such terrible service)..... The guys in this shop have terrible customer service skills, they have the approach of a car sales man trying to sale a bike and make a deal..... Rather than a family shop whose goals is to services bike riding families and those who are passionate about their bikes. MY advice please dont go in this shop to buy a bike or get you bike repaired..... They should really look into changing their name to the BIKE DEALERSHIP OF CROFTON...... PAST CUSTOMER & DISAPPOINTED RIDER!

0 stars--NOT A FAMILY BIKE PLACE. Came in with my 20 year old bike that I wanted to work on with the family so I came in here to have some parts replaced and new tires. The first guy who was helping me thought it was a cool idea, but then the owner stepped in and told me it would be "$250 to basically begin to overhaul my piece of ish bike, which wasnt worth it." He said I would be better off buying a new bike from him, which basically scared his other employees into agreeing with him. He was VERY rude and preferred to help the customers who came in with $1000 bikes that were "worth repairing." F nostalgia! Change your name to BIKE DEALERS & Money Stealers, Inc and dont entertain families anymore. My husband was damn near crushed by the fact that his childhood memory was KILLED when we took our son in here like his mother, who passed, used to do with him. Worst review Ive EVERY given on google. We hate you. 0 stars.

Always excellent customer service. The folks (Jonathan, Sara and Ryan) at Family Bike Shop have a passion for cyclists. The word "Family" definitely fits since it always feels like visiting family everytime we go into the shop. Jonathan and the folks there always take care of me and my bikes. Anytime I have brought my bikes in so many times over the past four plus years for a quick once over and they would recommend repairs with safety in mind if necessary. Most recently Jonathan was able to work with Shimano to get my cranks replaced at no cost. Due to not knowing how long that might take I decided to purchase a new "backup" bike to ride while awaiting my other bike to be repaired. Got a great deal on a "backup" bike that kept me riding. Thanks Family Bike Shop for always being there.

I recently purchased a Surly Long Haul Trucker from FBS, choosing to buy from them rather than a closer shop owing to their experience with Surly bikes, and their reputation for excellence. The bike is *perfectly* built, and every time that I have gone in FBS, it has been an experience that is Free of BS (FBS)-- no upsells, no hassle, but a staff that is capable and competent in bikes ranging from $400 bike-path cruisers to Moots racing frames. I have a friend and fellow bike commuter who has been a loyal FBS customer for a number of years, and I would certainly use them as my primary shop if there were just a little closer to my house in Silver Spring. Even with the half-hour drive, Im tempted to do so. . .

I love having Family Bike Shop right in the neighborhood. I brought in a too small bike for me, that I purchased off of craigslist, and they were able to help make some changes to the bike to make the fit more comfortable so that I could ride it for over a year before deciding to purchase a better fitting bike. Prior to my first Ironman distance event, they gave my bike the once over to settle my superstitious mind. Always willing to think outside the box. Always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and great people to boot...or pedal.

I must give credit where credit is due: The people in this shop are friendly and helpful. They seem to give you their genuine opinions and not just try to up-sell you. I must also emphasize, however, youll pay a premium for that level of service. Their pricing strategy is a bit of a gimmick: They price most everything at least 15% higher than youll find elsewhere. They then lure you in with a regularly published "15% off Any One Item" coupon. I guess if you only buy one item at a time, with a coupon, you wont overpay, too much.

Ive bought 3 bikes, and a trunk rack from FBS in the last year, and absolutely love everything about this place and the people that work there. They have a great selection of bikes, including lower priced entry level bikes that were perfect for me and my girlfriend, and the free lifetime tuneups that accompany the new bike purchases provide a great value and give me peace of mind. All of the staff have always been friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I will always be a Family Bike Shop Customer.

I went here to get a bike tire replaced, and since it was my first time, I asked if they wouldnt mind showing me how to do it. Ryan took me right into the shop and walked me through the whole process, step by step. Afterwards, he recommended a few products and then Sarah took over and answered all of my questions. Everyone I interacted with in the store was very friendly, and I look forward to going back and using their layaway to get my wife a bike. Great place, and will be coming back! -Scott

I had to share my excellent first time experience with this business. I cant wait to return and refer all my friends! I was in and out in 15 minutes. I wasnt coerced to replace my wheel. They fixed the bend in my wheel and I was on my way. At no additional charge, I was greeted and kept company by the family dog and I really felt comfortable throughout the entire experience. I am a customer for life. Thank you guys sooooo much!! :) ~Paula C.

I called to find out the cost to assemble a bike not purchased from this store. While the person answering the phone was quite nice, the price was ridiculous and more than what I paid for both childrens bikes together. $125 to put a bike together, I think not. While I have been to the store for other purchases before and was satisfied, I did not think this was necessarily a family friendly situation.

FBS is a supporter of my mountain bike team, and they really know their stuff. From serious racing to casual cruising these guys can hook you up. No snooty bikeshop attitude here- they can put you on a decked-out Titanium Moots or fix up your old beater bike (and anything in between)- they know that cyclists and bikes come in all sorts of levels and styles and they can cater to them all.
