Friendly people, but will sell you bike accessories way more expensive than what you can find elsewhere. I went to this shop after buying a bike from velocipede, to get essential accessories. I am new to biking in the city and a beginner. I spend about $120 on a helmet, a small headlight, and a U-lock. I was happy with my experience, because the seller was helpful, friendly and took time for a few minutes to teach me how to use the accessories. However, after a couple of days, when I checked prices on amazon, I realized that I could purchase the same stuff (in case of lights much better quality ones) with almost half the price. Dont get me wrong! I realize that this is a local shop and they cannot compete with amazon. And, I would love to support them as a local shop. I can tolerate their prices being 10%, 20%, or 30% higher than amazon. But, I think selling stuff twice the price of what I could get from amazon is not fair for me. I felt I should go back and ask for a price match or return. When I went back the seller (different from the first one) said they do not do a price match. On the request for return, he started nagging about being a small business that can not compete with amazon, and that they buy their stuff more expensive than what you can buy from amazon (which sounds very stupid, and I asked "why dont you then buy your stuff from amazon?!). Eventually, I decided not to return, in support of a local business. But, I do not have a good feeling about the whole experience. I will probably never go to this shop again, and I will recommend my friends not to go there to buy bike accessories. I love local businesses on the Avenue and anywhere else, but I think it is not all on us supporting them. They have to be more creative and find ways to satisfy customers. Selling stuff almost twice as expensive as amazon, and being so hesitant in accepting returns, is not the way to go...

I went to 20/20 after buying a road bike that didnt fit from another store in the area. The S-works model brought me to the store where I met and got to test ride a version with the owner Chris. We discussed the options, build and budget. It was a thorough meeting and we hammered out the details and expectations were set about timing. I bought the bike and have been riding happily for almost two years. This shop continues to exceed my expectations with their customer service. Im greeted by both owners and others in the shop by name. They have made sure Im taken care on so many occasions, it shows they truly want me as a long term customer. Johnny and Brian always are more than willing to spend copious amounts of time with me and never rush to get me out the door or move on. I really believe this shop sets the standard not only for a bike shop, but for a business in the Baltimore area. Ive given the other shop another try, and again feel there is so much this shop offers the others cant. Thanks, you guys have proven that expecting great, friendly and consistent customer service is available, even in the bike business. Steve

Specialized is a great brand. However, you can be very easily turned off to any particular bike brand, based on your interactions with the representatives of that brand. Specialized has something truly great in their partnership with Twenty 20 Cycles. When you walk in, you aren’t expected to be a pro racer with endless knowledge of bikes and gear. They treat you like a customer, one they are interested in helping with whatever you need. You can walk in with a question or wanting to buy a bike, and they will treat you great either way. They are refreshing, really. In a day when many bike shops are filled with racers with attitude, Twenty 20 nails it with the customer service. Not only that, but they think about what people will want, and carry it. While many shops are telling me they need to order parts, Twenty 20 always seems to have exactly what I need, as obscure as it is, in stock and ready. If you’re looking for Specialized bikes and gear, along with a great and helpful shop, Twenty 20 is where you want to be.

As a recent transplant to Baltimore one of my first objectives was to choose my new local bike shop -- a place with a helpful sales staff that is welcoming and genuinely happy to assist an otherwise ignorant customer, and mechanics who are as thorough as they are instructive, providing helpful tips for self-repairs and preventative maintenance that actually saves a few dollars. After visiting several shops in the Baltimore area I found what I was looking for in Twenty20. Prompting this review is my most recent visit to Twenty20: I presented an uncommon problem that couldve been repaired by Twenty20s mechanics for a decent price. However, knowing that another shop had the proper tool and could do the job for half the price, the mechanic informed me of the circumstances, called the mechanic at the other shop, and sent me to that shop where the problem was resolved in short order. I value a shop that considers my costs in relation to their profit, and Twenty20 is now my local bike shop. Thanks guys!

I took my commuter bike to Twenty20 Cycling for repairs. I was welcomed by the staff, who took time to explain what they were going to do and gave me a cost estimate on the spot. They actually ended up doing a bit more than I expected at no extra cost, and I was back on the road experiencing a flawless ride. I also replaced my Bontrager pump with a Specialized. Who knew pumping tires could be so easy? I always thought I was the problem when it was the pump all along. My old bike is still fine, but Ill go back to Twenty20 when I need to replace it. They stock a whole range of quality bikes at all price points, even at my modest level. Oh, and they are broadcasting the Tour de France, which you can watch while sipping espresso made with their own special blend roasted by the fabulous Zekes. On the couple of occasions Ive been there, children and dogs were made to feel as special as customers who were getting custom fitted for bikes. Twenty20 is not just a bike shop, its a destination.

I dont like to dilute my credibility as a reviewer with 5-star reviews, but I really cant find anything wrong with my recent bicycle service at 20/20, and there was a great deal right with it. I brought in my heavily used road bike, ridden hard and put away wet for about 4 years without maintenance, just because people told me I was being stupid and in truth the bike sounded old. Sure enough, after a thorough going-over, the self-assured young men behind the counter told me it needed $370 worth of work. Well, that wasnt happening, but we did settle on $149 worth of must-do upkeep. I must admit to having been suspicious of even this, but I did it. The bike rides like new. It looks new. It was the best $149 Ive spent on anything in a long time. 5 stars--4 for the service and 1 for gracefully putting up with my attitude.
