When my bike got stolen, shortly after moving to the city, this was the first place that I came to shop for a new one, because its walking distance from home. I had someone come over to help me immediately, who was very friendly. I got to see and ride a couple of bikes, and get some input on the kind of riding I was planning to do - Im still very much a beginner. I decided that before spending a huge amount of money, I ought to at least check out a few other stores. I did that and was back here the following day. The service is excellent, and the price-range is right for me. Im looking forward to coming back to shop for accessories, get my bike tuned as part of the service plan, and learning more about cycling.

I started going to this place because I moved to Mt. Vernon and it was the closest bike shop around. Wow is it expensive. They are very friendly and you cant beat the location. It is right on the Gwynn Falls Trail. The problem is their prices. They are significantly more expensive than other bike shops. I came in for a simple repair and ended up paying half of what I paid for the bike in the first place. Plus I have been wanting a fold up bike. Their cheapest one was $1,300. I went to Light Street Cycles and found one for half that price. From now on unless it is an emergency Im traveling the extra distance to go to a bike shop with reasonable prices.

They have a good range of bikes at reasonable prices and a great location thats perfect for test drives, but what makes this place stand out is the service. Ive been in there maybe half a dozen times for bike/part shopping and service, and every time the staff has been extremely nice, attentive, and helpful. They put the time in to make sure I got a bike that was right for me, fit right for me. The staff knows their stuff, but theyre not snooty about it like at certain other bike shops. They seem to actually want to help people find good bikes and get the most out of the ones they have. Highly recommend.

Ive got a vintage mint-condition Univega road bike named Gertie. I love this bike. After about a year of ownership, she started to pop out of gear going uphill which was incredibly frustrating and especially problematic as I am a new cyclist and had no idea what was going on. After discovering it was likely a derailleur issue, I took it to Baltimore Bicycle Works and asked if they would mind taking a look at it. In less than five minutes, one of the employees (Im awful with names) adjusted the derailleur. They didnt charge me a dime and Gerties been riding smooth as silk ever since!

I had my wheels stolen off of my bike, they were the stock wheels and i loved them because i never got a flat or had any trouble. I went there and dropped 300 bones on getting back on the road (seat post and saddle included). The parts look weird and I was specifically told that "My back break thing was fixed" ... one week later Im getting new brakes and they guys at a different shop show me the insane wobble my back tire has. And tell me the 125 rim i bought was really a 60 dollar cheapie!! Besides the awkward customer service I feel they stiffed me because it was my first time there.

I was in Baltimore for the day from Brooklyn and got stuck with a flat tire and no adapter for my Presta valves...I showed up at this place and found that the gate was down. It turns out that they are closed Mondays...HOWEVER, they let me in anyway, and helped me out with a flat fix, and were amazingly friendly and wonderful and gracious about it. They were also-- I have to mention-- miraculously devoid of the usual bike shop attitude. I wish I lived in Baltimore, because there isnt a bike shop in Brooklyn as friendly and helpful as Bicycle Works. You guys are the best! Thanks again!

Ive used them several times for myself and my kids. They gave me a lot of their time, helping me fix up some old bikes and, at a reasonable price, refurbished them (e.g., in one case adding a brake and kickstand), and now my kids race around crazy and happy. Even when something came back not perfect I let them know and they immediately fixed it. Did I mention reasonably priced? In sum, really cool people who have good knowledge and excellent customer service. Highly recommended!

The BEST BIKE SHOP IN BALTIMORE!!! Cooperatively owned and operated, BBW is hands down my favorite shop ever! Ive been a bike geek for 20 years and have had an array of shop experiences as a woman - BBW staff is truly focused on customer service, being a positive part of the community, and supporting brands that are well built and in a reasonable price range. They are knowledgeable folks and are there to help find you the right item to be stoked on!

Super helpful staff. I was thinking about buying a bike, and the staff was patient and spent a lot of time with me letting me try out a variety of bikes, asking me about my preferences, what I would be using the bike most for, etc. I never felt pressured to buy. I also brought an old bike there for a tune up and upgrade. The shop did excellent work and I would highly recommend them!

Friendly staff, nice selection and extremely knowledgeable. I enjoy just going down there and asking em weird questions because without fail they always provide extremely detailed and helpful answers. They will also order anything you need that is not in the showroom, all for not rip-off pricing. Thats what anarchy means - organized, expert labor that wont rip off its customers.

I went to BBW to have my stuck bike pedals removed. First I tried at home and failed. Velocipede couldnt get them off. Neither could REI (in fact they suggested I get a whole new crank!) BBW, got the job done in two minutes and charged $5. Incredible! Theyve only been around for 2 months so I hope their business proves to be a success. I will definitely be going there again.

Super friendly and knowledgable staff/workers! Im just going to echo what someone else said. The staff at BBW are very nice and patient, especially given the fact that Im totally new to biking and hadnt done much research prior to walking into the shop. Ive had some really negative experiences at other bike shops, but not at BBW. Alex is especially great!

It was very pleasant shopping here. I brought in a bike that I was working on and the person helping me was so friendly. I was asked several times if I was being helped. I didnt feel pushed to buy something that I really didnt want like I do at other shops. The service was excellent and I walked out of the store with some nice parts at a great price.

I met Alex while attending a bike fitting seminar in Maryland. Simply put, for a guy to be interested enough in professionalism to attend such a seminar, yet laid back enough to keep fun at the forefront of cycling, is kind of a rarity in this business. Ive read the shop reviews and after meeting Alex they all make sense.
