I happened to see the reviews listed for Schewel furniture and felt compelled to write. Maybe some things have changed but I have shopped at this store twice: once in 2001 and once in 2008. In 2001 I bought a sofa/love seat combo that I still have it and the only trouble I have had is from my own usage. It was not the highest end but also not the cheapest. In 2008, I purchased a bed that was on sale. It is very well built and looks fantastic. I plan to keep it forever. It looks that nice. Now, I chose a cheaper mattress set and that needs to be replaced but that is wear and well expected. I will shop there again soon and if I find what I like, at a committable price, I will not hesitate to purchase. Buyers have to understand that the furniture market, as a whole, has about a 400% markup. In addition, the higher end of furniture, the better it will hold up. But even a high end piece will not stand up well to a few years of battering by the kids and animals. Finally, buyers must understand that if you finance something and you do not pay for it, the people you owe money to are going to want their money...you have your product...they want their money for that product. Thus, you can expect to be hounded for the payment. Thats not being a jerk. Its trying to stay in business.

Schewel......... Mr. Kilmore (proclaimed attorney), the collections person, impersonation of an attorney is a felony and you shouldnt quote the law, not knowing the law....... Took me to court even after I filed bankruptcy, and was discharged, now he says "we want our stuff back". I sold it at a yard sale, again cheap and worthless. So now I am going to take Schewels to court. You can not ask for goods or services without showing up at the meeting of the creditors, and no one came from your company. To the owner, I am sorry that you have people that work for you that are not professional, looking for a handout, and waiting to jump on people like a lion on a zebra. I understand Culpeper is small, but again you dont hire based on experience, but you hire based on need. And you surely dont need want-to-be attorneys, because Im sure you have plenty paid ones.

My husband Daniel and I originally purchased a Madison sofa with duel recliners from Schewels this past year. This is the most comfortable sofa weve ever purchased. We were met with smiles and respect. 6 months later we returned to purchase a dining room set and washer/dryer combo. Upon installation of our new appliances there was an issue. Schewels dealt with this issue with promptness and professionalism. Every issue weve had has been dealt with in this manner. The staff has always been respectful and courteous to us no matter the circumstance. We highly recommend Schewels in Culpeper they are wonderful, Danny and Jamii Cooper ~ Spotsylvania Va.

I purchased over $5000 worth of furniture from them in 2006 and guess what, I still have it. I did not purchase cheap furniture and thus it has lasted. I presume as with any furniture when you buy the lower end quality, then it really does not last. I enjoyed them and will return. I cannot say they are thieves because I paid for my items up front, at least all but one piece. When financing is used as a form a payment then it is based on your credit, when you purchased the items the interest rate had to be disclosed to you and at that time, you had the option of excepting their terms or walking away.

I made the mistake of buying furniture from Schewels twice. Your lucky if your furniture last a month before it starts falling apart. Ive had to send my current furniture to be repaired at least 3 or 4 times within 6 months and I am about to send it in again. Its ridiculous how cheaply the product is made for how much they charge. Im sorry but a $1,200+ sectional sofa should not fall apart so quickly within the first 6 months that we have had it. I will never buy another thing from Schewels again and I will advise anyone looking for furniture to stay far far away from the store.

We recently purchased a very nice Bassett living room set and two recliners from Schewels and are very pleased with both the furniture and the customer service we received. Loved it so much we have been back twice since this purchase in December 2013 and bought a new buffet server for our dining room, a curio, and a La-Z-Boy stationary sofa and ottoman. Great folks to deal with--highly recommended.

I agree with the last post. The furniture is cheap and over priced. Rip people off on their over the top finance charges. Basically, Schewel furniture store are thieves. Sad for me I had to nerve to purchase furniture from this store several times.

The manager is a jerk and knows nothing about customer service. He could care less about making sure customers want to return and he treats the employees horribly! I wont step foot in this store again and I would advise anyone else to do the same.
