Paul isnt the only amazing employee at the W. McDermott Drive location of Petco in Allen. When I bought my first puppy I was on my phone talking with my mom asking her if I needed both a collar and a harness and one of the employees, Damon turned and looked at me and simply said yes. I promptly got off the phone with my mom and talked with Damon. Damon took the time to help us from collars and leashes to food, toys and bowls and everything else you need when youre first starting out with a new puppy. The next week we came back, and Damon not only remembered us, but remembered our puppys name. Since that day he has become "Uncle Damon" and is always genuinely happy to see us. He is not only knowledgeable but treats you with the upmost respect and customer service. We have gotten our puppy groomed there atleast every 3 months since we got her, and have never had any kind of major problem. We even told them the first time that we wanted a "Cocker Cut" and they told me that since shes a puppy, doing a normal cocker cut would cause her skin irritations so would we be okay with them keeping her hair a little longer. My dog has taken to Auggie and she will only behave if hes the one who grooms her, but the other groomers are just as good. While I agree with Karen that Paul is a fantastic employee; hes not the only one. This Petco has been blessed with many employees who not only are knowledgeable but love their job and all animals. I have never found a better place.

Petco crickets KILLED my bearded dragon within a week!!!! I went in to get crickets for my Bearded Dragon, and what should have been a 5 minute trip (assuming the store wasnt crowded) turned into a 30 minute ordeal. I wasnt greeted, and when I finally found an associate she was more concerned with testing water levels and answering another customers question, regardless of the fact that I had asked her assistance first. When she finally took time out of her "busy" schedule to help me, she seemed unconcerned with my needs and had to ask me multiple times how many crickets I needed. Her attitude was horrible, and I was really displeased with my visit. To top everything off, the crickets were infected with a parasite that KILLED MY DRAGON a few days after he ate them. I will never shop at Petco again, PetsMart is cheaper and has better quality items and a staff genuinely interested in my needs. They should consider themselves lucky I dont pursue some form of neglect charge.

An employee at the W. McDermott Drive location of Petco in Allen, Texas made such an impression on me that I am going out of my way to seek out this site and give a review. The employee I am speaking of here is Paul. Sorry to say I do not know his last name but trust me, if you ask for Paul, the other employees will know who you are talking about. Paul helped me recently when I was looking for products to keep my cat from urinating around the house. I was floored by his knowledge of cats and their habits. He speaks with obviously kind feelings towards cats (and I dont really like my cat right now). Paul is not just knowledgeable and kind, but he speaks clearly, is easy to understand, and has a tone to his words that is encouraging and informative. Petco needs to recognize what a gem they have in Paul.

I think this store has friendlier employees and I guess a smarter manager as well. Petco stores will match a competitors coupon or offer. For their services like grooming or hotel if they have it, I was told it varies by the store depending if the manager allows it. I think a smart manager or employee would honor or match a competitor stores offer if the store wants the customers business. I asked a manager at another store on Preston Rd and McDermott Rd in Plano and the one was not sure so she asked another one and the second one said no. That second manager at this store, a brunette wavy haired lady does seem to be that bright of a person and even slightly rude.

Five years ago, I bought a $45 plus dog bed for a puppy. I washed it for the first time only two months later. The bed had WASHING INSTRUCTIONS ON IT. It lumped up so that it was unusable. I tried to return it but they would not accept the return..........................THE POINT? I have not purchased anything at Petco since nor shall I ever !

They sell a Betta tank that killed or Bettas!!! Its called Betta falls. DO NOT BUY IT. The girl behind the register said it is only for female Bettas, however it is advertised with male Bettas in it. Petco employees do not care about your pets. Go to PetSmart instead! They are friendly people and do not sell that Betta death trap!

Petco is OK. We go there when we dont feel like driving up to Stacy and going to Pet Smart. We used to go more often but they decreased their selection of the kind of food we buy for our dogs. Their prices are also not that great. Often Pet Smart is cheaper and Amazon is cheaper for many of the items we buy, so we go that route.

I can only rate the fish area, as that is the only area I use. They guys there really know their stuff and helped me setup my tank. My fish are well and they can answer any of my questions. And the fish are well taken care of. Only place I go for fish and fish stuff

Nice selection of freshwater fish, plants, snails, shrimp, saltwater invertebrates, marine fish at good prices. Good frozen fish food selection. Ask for Meghan, loves what she does, very knowledgeable!
