Horrible, TERRIBLE customer service. I have been going to Pet world for a year and a half, hoping my experience would improve. Id rather support a locally owned business than a large company like petsmart and petco but I will never be returning here. I filled out their special order forms for a few bichir species a year ago and never heard back. I asked them this April to call me when they got other ropefish in and left my number. I never heard back from them and when I stopped by to get frozen krill I saw a ropefish for sale (an employee told me another customer was livid he wasnt called when they got them in either). The straw that broke the camels back was this May. I spoke at length with Troy (the owner/manager/whatever) about ordering some ranchu goldfish. He said he would get a handful of them in in three weeks. I called later and spoke with Troy to confirm the day the order would come in so I could get there to pick mine up ASAP. He confirmed that it would be in the next Thursday. When I showed up however there were no ranchus and an employee told me they werent even getting an order that week because Troy left for a conference. There was one, poorly conformed lionhead goldfish in their tanks, two employees insisted it was the same as a ranchu but they most certainly are NOT the same. I spoke with a woman up front and asked her to call me if the order ever did come in; she insisted they would. I have still heard nothing and if they call now they will not be getting my money. Their prices are laughable ($90 for a 3 inch, captive bred ornate bichir is ridiculous!), their service is terrible, and their non-aquatic animals look poorly treated.

Been in here several times, its not kept clean and the manager has a very poor attitude. I went in to buy a rat once, spent some time looking. When I decided which one I wanted, I went up to ask the manager to get her out for me. He refused to go to the back of the store and open the rat cage to get the one I wanted, he instead reached under the counter and pulled one out of a cardboard box (by its tail, mind you!) and stuffed it in a CHINESE FOOD CONTAINER! Yes! A leftover box!! I didnt receive any sort of guarantee on the rat. When I got home, I realized it was a male rat! I specifically asked for a female! Will never purchase from this store again! I had to go into the store again today because my boyfriend refuses to stop giving them his money. The woman running the store at the time gave a girl permission to hold the bird at the front of the store - Chico. The bird bit the woman because she picked him up improperly and he lost balance, grabbed hold of her hand with his beak to save himself. She and the woman running the store made a big ordeal of it. The woman running the store started SHOUTING at the top of her lungs: "BAD CHICO! BAD BIRDY! NO BITE! NO BITE!!" slapping the cage and hollering as loudly as she could. It was extremely awkward and unprofessional.

Try to support a local business and ended up getting screwed with HORRIBLE advice. I have been doing a LOT of research on a certain type of fish I have at home. We went to Pet World to buy some decor and some snails for my fish to eat. After talking to the gentlemen there about the type of fish I had they tried to tell me the complete opposite of everything that I had researched about my GSP (Green Spotted Puffer). They told me to leave them in a 5 Gal. tank and they would be fine. When in all actuality they need at least a 30 Gal. They also sold me the wrong kind of snails so now I have to figure out where to get the correct ones. I believe they were just trying to get me to set up my larger tank differently so I would spend more money buying a bunch of other fish I didnt need. There were some puppies in there as well. They looked very unhappy and have probably been sitting in their boxes for a while with no human interaction. I DO NOT recommend this store to anyone and will never go back there for anything.

Let me preface this by saying I used to love it when it was Fins N Feathers...bought two birds, a lizard and a hampster there. Went there for all my pet needs. After today, I will never step foot in there again. I found a stray dog that had almost gotten hit by several cars. I took it there since I was going to purchase some pet supplys anyway and the manager there was horrible. Not only was he rude, he told me I could not stay in there with the dog. All I was asking was if the dog could stay there until animal control got there. He said no....well, then how come they gives baths to animals, trim there nails and wings but because it was a "stray", the dog couldnt stay there. The other gentleman and the 2 girls behind the counter were very nice. Since the manager of the store has no compassion for animals, I will no longer purchase anything there and I will be sure to tell all my friends that still go there, not to anymore...bring back the old owners that promoted animal compassion...this manager sucks

I have heard a lot of bad reviews about this place but its one of the only places in town that sells hedgehog food so I am forced to go here. I have read several remarks about how bad the place was but when I went everything was clean and the animals semmed to be fine. The birds were all talking and cherpin and the gerbils all runnin around with eachother. Everytime I go buy hedgehog food they always talk to me and seem real nice. Im not sure who the manager is the the guy I talked to seemed real nice he walks around with a bird on his shoulder. I just thought I was add this review to kick the score up a bit because im a hug animal lover and would definitely not be shopping there if I saw the things people did in the other reviews. But until I experience the things in the other reviews, I will continue to shop at tail and fins.

Went in today for some live plants and a few starter fish. Aside from the sort of abandoned appearance, it wasnt a bad little pet store. I saw some rabbits and they looked fine, birds were chirping and the other animals all seemed okay. The reason I would reccomend this place is solely based on freshwater fish. There are lots and lots of species to choose from. The guy I talked with seemed to be very knowledgeable and genuinely interested in how I was going to have my tank set up. He could have made a quick buck off me but instead reccomended to hold off on a few ideas I had. I feel like I can trust this store when it comes to my aquarium. Not sure about anything else... They should consider keeping someone up front at all times though, we walked in and werent sure if we were even supposed to be in there.

The signs on their tanks suggest they have a wide variety of fish, but after months of checking back every week, nothing ever changes. Always some excuse, "you just missed it" "Next shipment" "Didnt ship" The store is reasonably well kept for the amount of tanks they have. I know they can be a lot of work to keep up with. Ive seen very few dead fish compared to other places. The kids dipping fish seem fairly knowledgeable for their age, and are very helpful, and exuberant. The older staff,.. not so much. My review is not intended to trash this establishment, but to offer constructive criticism. Say what you stock, and stock what you say. Keep up with the house cleaning, it can always be better. A well educated, personable staff will keep customers coming back.
