Ive bought from Slagers for 25 years. They were "the local go to company" when I arrived in town. Gradually Ive learned they are a company that lives by its sale of very high end appliances. Period. They dont service any appliance unless they can find proof in their sales receipts that you bought the appliance from them. Really! Address and date sold. The same brand appliances they sell they will not service unless they have proof you bought it from them. So...Slagers is not a service company. Sears has a tremendous service company that will service any appliance . Want service, call Sears! Further, Slagers will not install any appliance since "We are not licensed plumbers.". They will not even replace or install a new dishwasher since "We are not licensed plumbers." A dishwasher can be replaced by an average home owner in 1 hour. They dont even bother to have a subcontractor they hire to install appliances! Slager is basically a warehouse-to-home drop off transfer company selling very high end appliances (mostly stainless steel these days) with no installation service and maybe some some repair service. I ordered 6 appliance from them in the last month with 4 to be delivered on the same day, Then I get a call that somebody had forgotten to place the order for one so it would be delivered after the contracted day the contractors were on site for installation. So an extra day of contractor because Slagger cant even remember to order all 6 appliances on time. I was in the store when a customer of 30 years said they delivered a new appliance to his home and his wife asked the delivery people how to set up the clock. They handed her the appliance manual and said "Look in here." and walked out. Slagers lives on local legend and selling very expense appliances. Decorators love them! But be aware they are an old established store in a niche market who exist only for a lack of completion and their exclusive “deal with us or forget our service”. Actually a good spider’s web. Just read last months Missy Holbrooks reminiscence of her father taking her kids there to get large boxes for forts. No mention of buying appliances. Just ancient history. If you want competition reality, go to The Appliance Barn or other outlets that deal in reality, sell the same appliances and fight for business. Slagers is living only because of great showroom space for hugely expensive decorator recommended appliances and lack of real competition. Avoid getting involved in their spider web. Tell your decorator to look for other sources for the same appliances. It will really pay off in the long run! Finally, look at the ancient dates of most of the reviews. Blaine left years ago!

I moved to Iowa City from out of state and needed new appliances for my home. I knew better than to order from the "big box" stores because having needed simple parts for the dryer door of my previous dryer turned out to be a nightmare which my local appliance store had saved the day. Anyway, I went to Slager Appliance and they really helped to educate me on the difference between various appliances so I could pick what would suit me best. I ordered a washer and dryer from them and from the store to the delivery they were respectable of not only me, but my property as well. The installers were kind and considerate. I later went back to purchase an entire kitchen of appliances and again, the delivery and installation process was great. I even asked for more info about kitchen lighting and electrical and they had connected me to wonderful installers for that too. I brought in my kitchen draft plans and asked for advice on placement of appliances so I could get it right from the beginning! I am very happy with Slager Appliance, straight forward great service!

I went here to look at a new dishwasher. Before I went in I compared prices with other local companies and online to have a point of reference. Not only were their prices spot on I worked with Tim and Adam and they were amazing, they walked me through what my options where and took the time to show me the features and benefits of each option and help me evaluate what I really needed. I was blown away at the level of service and honest care that they had. They installed my dishwasher this morning and I could not be more pleased, unlike most places they called me in advance with a realistic window of time they would be here and then called me when they were on their way. The whole experience was nothing short of fantastic. I have also had them service my refrigerator in the past and they were beyond excellent, providing me with on the spot service and consultation/advice. If you want a high quality product, with great service and pricing, hands down this is the place you should go. Its no wonder why they have been in business for so long. I rate them 5+ stars!

I thought I had found the perfect appliance store - great products, in house technicans, and great service when I bought a washer. Then came the delivery. I was told a three hour range of time (11-2) by the delivery coordinator, which seems reasonable for this type of delivery, but they didnt show up . I called the store an hour after the given range and the delivery coordinator told me the deliveries had been switched around without his knowledge. They would be 2 hours late. Well I got a call about 5 pm by a confused delivery guy asking where my house was. A whole afternnon had been wasted waiting for the washer at that point. Plus, I never would have know about the problem had I not called. B for service, D for delivery. Your delivery guysneed to work on their communication, Slager.

I had no experience with Slager until last week when i received a collection notice from CMS (Slagers Debt Colector) saying that I owed $178 for a service that was done in a condo I lived in 3 and half years ago. Apparently the fridge was serviced about a week after I moved out and before the next tenant moved in. I assume the landlord made the call for repair and the bill was never paid. They sent collection notices to me at the address on record (where I no longer lived) and then sent me to collections. Just called to clear it up and was treated awful by Dory. The last thing she said before she hung up ON me was "I suppose your just going to make me eat this $178.... fine." Never done business with Slager and now I definitely wont.

We went in this week with every intention of making a purchase. I was in the store looking for around 30 minutes without even so much as a hi from anyone who worked there. I finally got fed up and headed for the door as soon as I touched it someone yelled from across the store can I help you? I said yes Im looking for a fridge... then nothing. I walked back in a ways called out hello?? Nothing in response. I waited a bit then left. Im appalled that with the prices of appliances anywhere that they wouldnt even bother to greet patrons. Other places I looked I was there for seconds before being asked if I need help or had questions.
