This was perhpas the worst experience I have ever had with a retail company. We brought in our custom made tandem bike to have the front derailleur replaced and then decided to also get a tune-up. We were then told we should get a new chain which we agreed to. They said it would be a couple of weeks, we agreed. After two weeks had passed I called in and was told that we had three spokes in our rear wheel which were broke and he (Steve, tho president) had went to replace them and thus had needed to rebuild the whole back wheel, which would cost us an additional $180! He said he could not put the wheel back as it was as he had already taken the broken spokes out. We did not notice any broken spokes when we brought it in, nor were we called before work was done with the spokes. We were told the bike would not ride properly unless we had it fixed, thought it road great before we brought it in to the shop. We agreed that we must get it done. A week later we got our bike back. On our first ride the gears slipped every time we pedaled hard, we also needed to put air in the back tire and the tube they put in did not have along enough stem to be able to attach the pump. We also noticed the back tire was rubbing on the frame. We brought it back in to get these things fixed, though we would have preferred to go somewhere else we did not feel like spending another $500. After bringing it back we got a correspondence which said we had the wrong length chain on it thus causing the shifting problems, which was our fault as we had the wrong length chain. Remember they had replaced the chains the last time we brought it in. We reminded them of this fact and they replied that they would replace the chain. We finally got it back again and there was some rubbing on the back brake. The president would not concede that they had made any mistakes and indicated our bike was a hodge-podge of parts and clearly had been in an accident. We had never been in an accident with our bike and out now very concerned that the bike was either mishandled at the shop or someone from the shop had taken the bike out and done some damage to the back tire, hence the broken spokes and bent rear disc brake. We have documentation of most correspondences if you are interested. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP!

DO NOT GET BIKE SERVICE HERE. I was really looking forward to supporting a local business and getting introduced to cycling, unfortunately, I had an absolutely horrible experience with this bike shop. The first couple people I dealt with were very nice and helpful, but the owner is truly intolerable. They were performing a tune up and told me it would take 5 days, this seemed a bit long but I wasnt in a rush so told them to go ahead. After about 4.75 days I got a call saying the bike was done, when I went to pick it up they tried to give me the wrong bike. When I told them it wasnt my bike they treated me like I was stupid and for some reason thought they could convince me that this was in fact my bike. In fact they hadnt even started work on my bike they told me should have been done by then. That was the first waste of my time. Then, they told me my bike had a wrong part, id bought it off ebay so I knew this was a possibility. I asked the owner if in his professional opinion itd be worth it to just buy the part if I should just buy a new part. Rather than answering directly he tried to up-sell me and insult my purchase repeatedly calling it "hodgepodge." I finally decided to go ahead and buy the part, but expressed my frustration politely and said I was disappointed that it wasnt going to be done on time. Rather than being understanding the owner continued to insult me and decided after 5 days he wasnt willing to work on the bike. Update: I took the bike to another store that came recommended from a friend. Shockingly, the owner told me I did not in fact need a new wheel and he is able to fix up the bike with no additional parts, and for cheaper than MM Cyclery. MM is a lying, thieving, scum of a business. Truly disappointed at this horrible service and lack of respect.

I dropped in on a Tuesday, and I needed a small part and a tire that had to be ordered. No problem. Should be in by Thursday they said. I wasnt in a hurry to get the items, but Friday rolled around so I called. Should be in on the following Tuesday, they said. Ok... I was mildly annoyed but let it go. Tuesday rolled around, I called, and still not in. "Should be in tomorrow, well call you". No call that Wednesday. So I called again the following day, for the THIRD time now, and told them that I wanted my stuff or my money back. "Its here now", they said, "We just havent unpacked it from the box yet, you can pick it up tomorrow". I just about lost it there. I told them I was coming to get the parts in an hour, and I wanted them or my money back. I WAS NOT GOING TO WRITE A REVIEW ABOUT THIS EPISODE UNTIL TODAY. Fast forward 2 months. I had them install the new tire for me at the shop. I brought in my wheel, already removed from my bike. Was charged $20 to take the old tire off, and put the new one on with a new tube. At least, thats what the receipt said! Today, I had a flat, and had to change my tube at home. It was the same wheel that I paid $20 for a tire install, which PER THE RECEIPT included a new tube, and what did I find? An old ratty tube with 2 patches on it. Real stand up guys running this place... NOT

I just had my 1975 Schwinn Speedster refurbished, and I needed a new bike helmet. I found one in Consumer Reports with a retail price. M&M Cyclery carried the model I needed in the XL size I needed, and agreed to charge me the CR price even though it was a little lower than the stores on-sale price. When I suggested Id be happy to pay the on-sale price, the General Manager, Delfino Parra, insisted on the CR price because "I want to make sure your first visit is a perfect one for you." He then helped me fit the helmet to my head, showed me how to make the adjustments to for the head (depending on whether I wear a hat or not) and to the straps. I was so delighted I offered to make online reviews, so heres mine for Google.

Worst bike shop experience ever. Do not go to them! I needed some work done on my bike, and when I took it in they quoted me $100 or less for the part. Then I get a call saying it was $179 plus labor, and they already did the work, so I owed them the money. The manager was rude and provided no compensation for their poor judgment. I spoke with the owner and he offered to take the $50 in labor off the bill. I agreed and was appreciative, but then I get another call a few days later saying they returned the parts and put the bike back in original condition and there was no charge and I needed to come pick up my bike. Are you kidding me? How on earth can you run a business like this?
