Hertz is the biggest joke of a car rental company.I lost the keys to my rental vehicle. Yesterday, I was told to tow the car to Ohare airports rental facility to exchange vehicles. At the counter of that facility I was told I was at the wrong location. I then had the car towed to the Des Plaines rental facility. (which nearly doubled the price of my tow). I dropped the car off at this Hertz facility. At the counter, a manager, Ryan Burns, informed me that he couldnt close my contract and that it would be closed in the morning. I was then informed that he couldnt give me another car as well even though that is what I was promised over the phone. He also said he couldnt give me any kind of paper work acknowledging that I had returned the car. I was stranded 50 minutes from my house and had to take a very expensive cab. This morning, I called the rental facility to confirm that my contract was closed. Of course, it was not closed. Again, on the phone, Ryan Burn, told me there was nothing he could do for me but gave me the number of Marge Vetter who deals with these kinds of things. I have left her three voicemails today with no response. My contract is still open. I am still paying for a car I no longer have possession of and am unable to get another car. I have now spent two full days on the phone with Hertz and have got no where. I dont have a vehicle and have no idea how I am going to get to work tomorrow. I had to pay for a tow to two different locations. I will have to pay to replace the key. I have valuables locked in the car which I am unable to retrieve. I have wasted two full days of my life dealing with morons who provide no customer service. I am paying for a vehicle that I do not have possession of. I have no paperwork confirming that I have returned Hertzs vehicle to them. IF THESE CLOWNS DONT SOLVE MY PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY I WILL MAKE IT A LIFE GOAL TO RUIN THEM.

I recently bought a 2011 Chevy Malibu from Hertz Car Sales in Des Plaines IL. I am a college student, so I have zero experience buying cars, and not much money in the bank. Ricky worked with me to find a car that fit my needs and my budget. I was EXTREMELY impressed with him. There was no pressure to buy, and he gave his honest opinion on the many different cars that I asked about. He made it a very laid back experience and I was comfortable the entire time. Kiko helped me out with my financing. He showed me all of the possible options and helped me choose the one that was best for me. He was very kind and friendly, and kept the situation light while still thoroughly explaining everything. I had to come in the next day because I found a small chip in my windshield. Upon walking through the doors, I was immediately greeted by Ricky, who inspected my windshield and promptly called Safelite to fix it. They repaired it on the spot, and I left within 30 minutes. Overall, AWESOME experience buying from Hertz Car Sales in Des Plaines IL. I definitely recommend.

Do not buy from here if you are from out of state!! I am from Indiana and bought a car in mid September 2016. Was pretty happy with my purchase although I didnt notice that the car didnt have any coolant until I got home... It is now 11/29/2016 and I still do not have my new plates and registration. I guess there is a problem with their paper work processing center. I understand that the title application takes time to get through the system, but I have been driving on expired paper plates for over a month! The customer service has been very poor. Not once have they called me to update me on the situation. Every time I have called them, I get the run around, they tell me "its coming" or tell me that they will call me back and never do. At this point Im not sure what to do. Im now stuck with a car that I can not register and drive legally!

DO NOT BUY OR RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! These guys are the crooks in the business. First off, they will charge you for everything! $9.99 for a Gallon of gas. They also sell buy and take on vehicles super cheap and try to pawn them off to you at a high price for large profit margins. Save yourself the headache and go the Enterprise or another Car rental / Dealership to get satisfactory results. Also if you call, expect to be on hold for a long time talking to incompetent people. Live will be much easier when everything is automated instead of dealing with people who probably have a hard time remembering how to get to work every morning.

Whatever you do people dont ever rent from hertz specifically this location 2170 Manneheim Rd Des Plaines, il 60018 The management team refuses to give me reimbursement for insurance that they are saying I signed up for, but I never authorized it! And when calling the main number they tell me if the manager wants to he can give me the refund, but chooses not to! Worst service I have ever in my life received! I hope everyone will reconsider renting from hertz, definitely choose a company like Alamo instead we had great service from them !

Very, very nice customer service from Ryan, who did a great job getting several of us out the door. The counter however is understaffed, as this one person is supposed to be prepping cars, driving them around front, and at the counter, all at the same time. The circumstances suggest poor managerial decisions about how to staff this site (which may now be emphasizing sales over rentals). Big kudos to this hard-working young man.

Normally the Hertz Des Plaines office has my Gold reservation and car ready and waiting for me when I arrive. This time the office seemed disorganized and there was no reservation packet waiting. Fortunately, the manager was still in the office and he knew of my reservation and took care of getting my car. I rent often and think (and hope) this was an anomaly, as the service is usually excellent.

The prices are no haggle so there is no pressure at all from sales. Hertz has very reasonable prices for cars, and reliable cars. I bought my car from a different Hertz location and noticed that this particular location has the BEST looking cars. The Hertz I went to a lot of scratches on their cars, but there are hardly any scratches on their cars here.

Very nice at the desk. Upgraded without hesitation when they saw I was a Gold Card member. BIG savings from getting car at airport ($260 vs $60!!) and is less than a 10 minute cab ride away. Was given a $10 credit when taking a cab back to airport on our return of vehicle. All in all a great experience with no pressure to buy extras of any kind.

I looked at two Chevy Sparks here. The first had a check engine light on, the second had dangerously bald tires and had a half eaten bagel under the hood on top of the engine. The sales people will go on and on about their excellent maintenance checks. I do not believe their lies.
