We dont often take the step to write a review of a place that is our trusty favorite, but I felt compelled to while coming across an odd review here that sounded out of character and suspicious. This family owned & operated store is my senior black labs favorite store, she can slowly mosey up and down the aisle, stopping behind the counter for a treat. The guys that I see behind the counter all the time look like brothers and can be almost quiet and shy but extremely helpful and really seem to care about their products, your animal and repeat business. They give samples of new foods I consider, and give treats to your dogs if you bring them in. Just all around nice people & place. I will say the place does have a man-cave appeal to it, I often want to rearrange or make the counter items pop a little--but I think the service & staff are top notch.

I previously rated this place higher, but I have to revise my stance based on a number of recent experiences. I love having small mom and pop type places in the area, and we were initially drawn here because they carried some higher quality pet products not available in the local chains. The staff are generally friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, the dog food isles are barren more often than not. I really dont know how they stay in business without stocking enough product to serve their customers. At this point, Im tired of making trips only to be given excuses and told to try again later. I expect Ill be taking my business somewhere more reliable and respectful of my time. Hopefully in the future Capital Pet will improve their business practices and we can start coming back again.

I’ll pay double before I ever walk into here again. I’ve had reef, saltwater, and freshwater tanks for over 13 years. Prices are high. Selection is average, quality is below average. Like others have posted the fish staff is uneducated and very RUDE. Never have I been treated so low in my life from any employee. If your looking for fish or supplies don’t waste your time here go else where. Aquatica in Tinley is great they value their customers unlike Capital. If your looking for unfish related items the employees seemed fine.

Great family business with wholesome products at competitive prices. They carry all the lines with quality ingredients or grain free feed. I was sold on this place when the owner of our dog training facility was shopping there for their K-9 work dogs!

Great place for when Im in a crunch. Local, reliable. Wish they carried more nutrena feed, but when I need shavings in a crunch its been helpful. Guys there are always nice and always walk my items out to the car for me.
