I drive for nearly an hour to shop at this small boutique fabric store. The Needle Shop has a unique, funky, very modern palette, with an array of home dec weight to mid-weight to drapey, featherweight cottons. The oilcloth for tablecloths is fun. Some of the fabric does a nod to retro. Great, fun patterns. Color, color, color!! I keep trying to come up with projects to use the fabrics because they are so appealing. There is a nice assortment of books for projects, design inspiration and how-to advice. They also have very fun patterns by independent companies and a small selection of interfacing and thread. They cant carry everything, but have the basics for my purposes. I have been there three times now, and have found the staff to be helpful without pestering me to death. They are not the pushy, gushy, interfering salespeople you sometimes find at independently owned businesses, but are more than happy to get involved if you want them to. Regarding the comment below about a salesperson who seemed rude, I would say she is reserved - and probably the same way with her friends. This same woman has been very helpful to me. Also, they have waaaaay more than Alexander Henry fabrics - I discovered Amy Butler here! They also carry Kaffe Fasset fabrics and there is some Robert Kaufman and many I do not recognize. This place is worth the trip, and I will shop here again, many times!

I received a gift certificate from my brother and his wife... So, I decided to take Sewing 101 and it was fantastic! I brought my own machine and the instructor was knowledgeable of the differences and able to show me how to use my machine as well as others in the class. There were only 3 of us in the class and the other two ladies were sister-in-laws! Next time, Im bringing my girlfriend with me! It was fun and useful!

I took a sewing 101 class with Alison. The class was very good for me as Alison took time to explain things about my machine and I actually finished my pillow.. she made me less afraid of my sewing machine and feel more confident I can complete projects with it. The shop has very up to date fabrics and books, definitely a place to get inspired, although some fabrics are very out of my price range.

I was really excited about this fabric store because of its boutique selection of designer prints. However, the store has a limited selection, and when I was there only had Alexander Henry stuff. There was hardly any diversity!! Also, the Asian woman was somewhat rude.

Wonderful fabric selection paired with great staff. The renovation from The Needle Shop to Oak Fabrics appears to have been worth it. Really nice interior décor highlights the new products, including fantastic pillows.

I took a sewing 101 class here. It was great. Competent, patient and kind instructor. Left with an empowering finished project. Have got a great selection of beautifully patterned textiles.
