This place was always a place to shop at even though theres 99 Ranch not too far from San Mateo/Foster City/Burlingame, in the Peninsula. I am not someone to return something especially for something I bought less than a few dollars, hence I typically dont keep my receipt thinking I have to keep it for any potential returns/exchanges. I shop her a lot, so one receipt less or not, its nothing to this franchise market. Bottom line is the principle and I may just be one customer, but I do also feel its a health concern that the public should be aware of. I bought this "Chili Bamboo Shoots In Soybean Oil, brand by Wei-Chuan, Made in Taiwan, with a noted expiry date of May 26, 2019" in November 2016. It is also noted that there is 3 years of shelf life, so lets do the math...maybe this was manufactured sometime in early 2016. I opened it the morning of January 3, 2017, and discovered mold. (Please see photos.) As a good faith effort, itd be nice for an exchange or return from the market I purchased it as it is pennies to them. With or without receipt, seriously? I am never a type to buy something, especially at a grocery to store just to get a few bucks back as I obviously wanted the item. I asked the cashier and the cashier went to ask an "owner" or "manager." Of course, the answer was no only because I didnt have a receipt. Unfortunately, the mold is not the grocery stores fault, but just a good faith effort is NOT too much to ask. I mean, their groceries especially produces arent always fresh and the place is not necessarily kept to par with be clean. Good luck.

Asian supermarket that carries Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean and some Indonesian groceries also carries American and.Mexican food stuffs too. Full butcher and fresh (some swimming in tanks) seafood selection. An international clientele shops here, so with some English, hand gestures and pointing you can purchase fresh meat, poultry, seafood and live shellfish by the pound or get your fish fried to your order while you wait. Marina has one of the largest Asian liquor selections in the Peninsula. They have a fresh deli counter if you want to buy prepared food by the pound. Their fruits and vegetable selection is extensive, but a lot of it is pre-bagged in clear plastic bags for you. You cannot pick and choose for yourself. The store lighting is slightly dimmed. Aisles are wide. This place is brighter and cleaner than 99 Ranch in Foster City. I use to be huge 99 supporter but I have stopped going because I find their grocery, meat and seafood selections to be less and going down their shopping aisles dark because they skimp on lighting. Marinas prices are also cheaper than 99s. Marina is in an Asian shopping center off of the Hillsdale Blvd exit on the Foster City side of 101. Finding parking in the free parking lot can get crazy during weekends and during dinner time because the shopping center has a lot Asian restaurants to chose from.

I love that we have several Asian groceries here in the peninsula. I appreciate the selection that Marina has, especially in carrying multiple Filipino products. Their produce section will obviously have things that an American grocery will not, like several different types of Asian green leafy vegetables. Or they will package it better: for instance, you can buy a few pre-cut slices of daikon radish here, whereas in a place like Nob Hill youd have to buy the whole daikon radish which is overkill for most Asian dishes. I only wish Marina would do something about the "wet market" smell. It emanates from the seafood section but permeates throughout the entire store. This is the main reason why I prefer to shop at Ranch 99 instead, because Ranch 99 is much cleaner and better organized.

Good selection of fresh produce and Asian food, but overly-crowded and dirty aisles. Some of the cashiers are more interested in chatting with each other than to acknowledge their customers. Theyll ring you up and hand you the receipt without a smile, never missing a beat of their conversation. And thats from the supervisors, too. I live across the street so it only takes me five minutes to walk from door to door. But in the sixteen months that Ive lived at CitySouth, Ive only shopped at Marina Market about fifteen times. Most of those times involved buying a few items. I would rather get into my car to drive 1.5 - 2 miles to shop at 99 Ranch Market and Trader Joes. BTW: Theyre not opened 24 hours a day. Its more like 7 (?) - 10 daily.

extremely hate this place... The nearby Ranch 99 is way much better. I used to shop here twice. The first time, they sold me seafood that is already expired. Without knowing this, I ate it and was sick for several days because of the food. The second time, today, I bought some stone crabs from this place. They were very impatient and intentional hide the crab they were trying to sell and put those crabs in a brown paper bag. After I am back home, I found those crabs lost a lot of legs. This place is dirty. full of fraud and sell expired food. will never go there and would like to sue this hell dirty place if time permits. suggest people not to go there either if you do like your life.

The quality at Marina is decent, not great, for an Asian supermarket. I really think that Ranch 99 is a lot cleaner and with better service. My tips: - Be careful with the meat/seafood staff - they are uncompromising, and decent customer service doesnt seem to be within their scope of training. Actually, thats putting it nicely. Theyre rude bastards. - The deli (Chinese food steam tables, and limited soup noodle selection) is a very affordable option for a quick, hot meal. - Produce is of good quality, and super cheap. A great value. - Great deals on beer - especially Japanese brands like Sapporo and Asahi. $7.99 for a 12-pack! - The best selection of sake Ive found anywhere. Legit.

I was this place last weekend, there was lady checking out before me, she was asking some question to the cashier and cashier was answering very rudely. The lady checked out and went outside but after some time there was some groceries that cashier did not scan and called the lady if it was hers. Then the cashier says the lady asked too many questions thats why she forgot to scan it, she also said do not ask her anymore question otherwise she will put her in black list. Seriously is that how you do business. This kind of business should be shut down immediately. Why do this people are so rude, why do you take your anger to the customer?

Stumble across this predominant asian market during vacation, be prepare for strong fish smell, the setting is almost like costco you must go to every aisle to find what you need. The variety of product is very good if you know where to look. the prepare food counter is good and the portions are huge. Prices are modest for California.

Good Asian market with excellent selection and reasonably priced produce. This is the best place to get rice as they have a wide choice of rices that are very inexpensive. If youre looking to make an Asian dish, this place will have the ingredients you cant find at Safeway (and the ones you can, but for less money).
