(if I could give 0 stars, I would) STAY AWAY FROM PETLAND ALL PLACES LIKE IT!! Their animals are from puppy mills where they have been treated poorly and have possibly been exposed to harmful diseases. Petland may seem like a harmless place where people can take their children to look at all of the cute little puppies, but it can expose people to potentially harmful bacteria. They may tell you their animals are from reputable breeders, just know that these "reputable breeders" are places that have over 1000 puppies at the same time, abuse the animals, and treat them like crap (a.k.a. puppy mills). You can read about how people have gotten a puppy here (for a very unreasonably high price) and have had to put it down because of a problem that Petland didnt tell them about, or didnt know about. Dont bother with their complementary vet exam that comes with the animal, those veterinarians are just paid to assure you that your animal is healthy. If you are looking for a companion, why not go to a shelter? The animals are treated better, cost a substantial amount less than pet stores, and are healthier. You can help an animal in need, or you can find an unreasonably priced, unhealthy animal. The choice is yours.

Way over priced for dogs! They are not of breeding quality which u expect to get for the prices they are charging. Our dog has tons of medical genetic issues. No one will breed with us because of those issues. Staff was rude when I suggested they compesate us for the deception. Further more dont finance anything unless u are comfortable with 25% interest even with an experion score over 750! They claimed all dogs are not guaranteed to be of breeder quality despite being told the breeder my dog came from being a reputable source or so petland stated. I call BS on that one. No info about breeder was given and upon requesting was directed to akc website where I need to pay additional money for pedigree. Stay away from these rip off artists and pet mill supporters. Rebecca was quite rude during the conversation about a refund. Recorded whole conversation. I also signed an agreement to stop puppy Mills but where did they get our dog from? Yes u guessed correct a puppy mill!

purchased a cavachon one day ago..Cute lil puppy. Only to take her to vet today to find out she has FLEAS and UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION dog is coughing and hacking and scratching, runny nose, and yellow mucus in eyes....This is all from petland shes been in our possession less than 24 hrs. And the sad part about this is I spent 2K and they have other dogs who are likely infected and they said they Never had a dog who had fleas, which I do not believe..This was the manager Rebecca.. Additionally, the dog expected to be sick another 10 days or so..She moanings. Im pissed. Now I understand why places like this should be allowed to get pets...Pure inhumane and negligence. I am first time pet owner and clearly worried about this pet and ALL the other pets in their care. So disheartening.

I bought a chameleon here that the store knew they had moved to the back at one point as he wasnt doing well and he died a week later. When calling the store and speaking to the manager I was told he was only covered for 48 hrs and I would have to place the dead animal in my freezer until Thursday to then talk to their GM and see if she could do anything. This is my second bad experience with Petland though I wont go into details on the first as that was a different franchise owner and that location has since closed, but apparently what everyone on the web already says about Petland is true, they are just about the money.

We had our daughters 6th birthday party at the Batavia location. It was such a wonderful experience. Our party host was Nathan, he was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! He knew every child by name and made sure that every child was able to pick a puppy to visit the party room. I will say that I was a bit nervous that the space would be too small, but it was perfect. Our party had 14 small children, we had enough time to visit with over a dozen puppies, eat pizza, cupcakes, open gifts & do a pinata. If you have a party, it would be a benefit to you to request Nathan as your host!

Purchased a puppy in February and totally got scammed!! 1400$ Boxer/Bulldog mix....ya right maybe Beagle, Hound, Bulldog who knows what mix?!?! Love my pup but researched breeds and specifically wanted Boxer/Bulldog. To top it off the puppy got very sick two days later so we had to make numerous vet trips plus multiple antibiotics, oh last but not least the puppy also had parasites. This should not be allowed to happen! False advertising popular breeds and what you really get is a sickly puppy mill mixed pet. DONT BUY PETS FROM PETLAND!

I have tried several different locations of Petland, and with the notable exception of Rockford, they have shown themselves to care first and foremost about money money money. I understand you open a business to make a profit but, asked why they had so few fish and were lacking other pet essentials, yet has so many puppy-mill dogs, I was told the owner knows what sells and that all he cares about. The same attitude was displayed at both locations I visited on Randall Road in Batavia and South Elgin.

Offered $2000 for a puppy that they wanted $2600 for. They said no. My research showed that puppy typically sold for $1000 - $2000. I was at the top end and was denied. If they wouldve sold that pup , I wouldve also bought the 2 kittens as well. Plus countless amounts of toys. They lost out on alot of business to make a couple extra bucks on 1 dog. Oh well. Off to a shelter. I wont be back.

Went today on June 5th to look at the ferrets as they were just opening up, we glanced around and on our way out a dog howled, and one of the male associates says to a female associate "I heard that and thought you stepped on a dog." The female associate replies "I would never do that out in the open!" wish we had gotten her name because that was extremely inappropriate.

Great experience purchasing my Bernese Mountain dog in June. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She is a healthy dog without a single issue. Energetic and playful. I bring her back frequently, the staff remembers her by name and is always willing to give me advice if Im purchasing something or not. Theyre the best.

They have a poor cat there and it has been there for a while. We were interested in saving the cat from this place , the employees were rude and didnt say two words to us after we held it. We wanted info, but they were to interested in their cell phones . Dont shop here! They dont care for the customers nor animals obviously

They dont have fish there anymore. I think the dogs are overpriced, but the staff is friendly enough. Good selection of dog treats and such, plus most pet supplies. They have some kittens, birds and other small critters.

Really nice staff and they make you sign a petition to stop puppy mills they only get there dogs from licens breeders
