This uptight store is the worst jewelry store that I have ever encountered. At best this store can provide a good comparison for what not to do and be a benchmark for what a good deal you can be getting from other jewelry stores. After years of business from my family, the store was supposed to hold a neckalace that was on sale for one week until I returned from a business trip. The neckalace was sold and I was offered, in compensation, another neckalace at FULL PRICE. What would be the point of that?! That was their best solution, as they claim they did not mean to tell me that they could hold anything on sale because when they hold something, people dont come back to buy it. So, even though the store owner knows my family and we buy from them continually throughout the years, they refused to hold an item. When I told the owner about what happened, he told me that thats company policy and he couldnt do anything about it. I responded, "What do you mean??! Its YOUR company. You are the one who made up that rule!" He had nothing to say, so he just repeated it. Even though he acknowledged the fact that my work "may be good" and my family does give them business. My friend was turned away because she did not want to buy an item from them... She was told that she should take her business elsewhere. While she was getting turned away, another lady was being told that "she didnt have time to answer all of her questions regarding a pearl neckalace she wanted to have re-done." One of my friends got her antique engagement ring (handed down through her husbands family) resized and two of the diamonds fell out. Whidby did not tell them this happened, until she came to pick it up and was told that two lesser quality diamonds were put in their place! They charged me $186.00 to resize my engagement ring and wedding band. Which I was told by a good friend who works at a private company and worked years at Bailey Banks and Biddle, that any jewelry store that charges over $40 for resizing is overcharging you. Plus, my ring was not done correct and resized too small. Also, I have researched many of their items, which are overpriced by far. So, basically, if you want to get ripped off and treated like you dont matter, then this is the store for you!

My husband bought a lifetime replacement warranty necklace on our Anniversary trip a few years ago from Whidby Jewelers and we were told we had to pay a fee to have it shipped to the company if we ever needed to replace it and mailed back to us which we were happy with as we are not natives. We have replaced it a few times which the experience was a little rough due to Whidby Jewelers accidently sending us the incorrect size of the necklace one time and then asking questions insuating ill intent as to why I have a different size once the chain had to be replaced again. However, this was eventually resolved when they reviewed their records and noticed their error and then proceeded to charge me with the amount agreed to replace the necklace and did so. I completely understand that there are mistakes sometimes. The representative at Whidby Jewelers was able to see from their computer records I was only charged the fee previously told to us each time including a couple times when the owner himself charged the agreed amount. Recently, I was told that the previous agreed amount is doubled and that the price should have been that way from the start and they are not sure why it wasnt previously. If I was told the doubled price was due to a new policy or some type of change in the company, this would not have been a red flag or a concern. However, having the price doubled and being told they are not sure why it was done differently previously even by the owner himself, Mr. Whidby just one year prior caused me to be mistrustful of the company. I now see Whidby Jewelers as a company that not only does not stand by their word but by their previous employees and even owners actions and agreements to their customers.

Obviously, the holidays bring many suprises. Proposing to my girlfriend this Thanksgiving was an experience that she and I both enjoyed. We knew the day was coming, and she had hinted about a specific ring she had seen before at Whidbys. I wanted the proposal to be a suprise so though I do not live in Madison, I made the trip down 441 to see what the excitement was all about. I came into the store ready to be overwhelmed by the sheer pressure I was under to find the ring, but the friendly staff quickly took the pressure away. As the sales associate and I were becoming acquainted, I told her I was getting engaged. We talked a bit about that and the wonderful woman I was proposing to. To my absolute suprise, the sales associate REMEMBERED assisting my girlfriend when she had come in before to look around. She even documented the rings she had looked at that day on a nifty little thing called a "Wish List". Suddenly, ALL the pressure was relieved, and I was able to find the ring she wanted and purchase it that day with no doubts. The store was beautiful, the staff was extremely helpful and polite, and needless to say, my fiance is incredibly happy with the choice I made!

My wife took my 500 dollar seiko kinetic watch here to have cleaned a couple years back for my birthday. A couple days later while on vacation I went swimming in the ocean (like I had many times before with it) after getting out of the water I noticed the inside fogging up and a finger print on the inside of the glass back. By the time I got home the watch was ruined with saltwater in it from whidby breaking the seal causing water to get into it. When I went up there to get the issue resolved all I could get was a sorry we can not do anything about it. I advise anyone wanting to use them to think twice because they definitely will not stand behind their work so I am sure they dont stand behind what the sell. The only reason they got a 1 start from me is because thats the lowest I can give them

For Christmas, I had been looking EVERYWHERE for a new gold watch. I am quite a picky person when it comes to jewelery and I just had not found anything remotely appealing until I visited Whidby Jewelers in Madison, GA. The employees were so friendly and made me feel like I was the only person in the store, when if fact the store was full. They promptly directed me to the watches where I found "THE WATCH" immediately. When I asked who made it, the sales representative said "Its a Whidby watch!" They have their own custom line and it was a perfect fit for me! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Whidby Jewelers and I would reccomend shopping there to everyone. They are friendly, helpful, efficeint and very knowledgeable about their endless line of products.
