This post is written in the hopes to get some resolution with a horrible experience that I am currently having with Drive Time. I leased a vehicle from DT sometime in January, thankfully I’ve had no issues with the vehicle and have been meeting my payment obligations. However, on June 13, 2015, as expected, my vehicle payment was deducted from my checking account. This payment cleared on June 15, 2015. On June 16, 205 I received an over the limit alert from Chase, telling me my account was overdrawn. Upon review of my account it showed DT had deducted and additional $401+ from my account. For what reason, no one has yet been able to provide me an explanation. I have submitted 2x via fax, copies of my bank statement as requested by customer service. Since June 16, 2015 I have been trying to resolve this because since that moment I have been unable to access any money that was available in my checking account for simple necessities such as food, and gas. On Friday 6/19/2015 I spoke to yet another rep who told me that based on the information I had provided, it was clear an error had been made, and that he had submitted a check request in the amount of the $401+ and $102 in fees to be sent to me to correct the issue. He explained that I could expect to get these checks either by that Saturday, or no later than Monday. Today is Thursday, June 25, 2015, and I still have not been reimbursed the money, and I can’t even buy groceries much less gas to get to work. The financial hardship and mental anguish that DT has put me and my son thru the past 2 weeks is awful, and NO ONE!! Has been able to provide me a solid explanation for this confusion, and to make the situation worse, another payment is due tomorrow, which DT will happily deduct from my account, not taking into consideration that other scheduled payments I had for other bills, from my account, which was overdrawn 2 weeks ago, will now also be deducted from any funds that come into my account from my paycheck. I’ve never been so frustrated with a merchant. Your customer service for leased vehicles SUCKS!! The staff there clearly doesn’t communicate with each other, doesn’t ask questions, lies. I was told Friday I would be getting checks in the mail, when those checks did not arrive on Monday, I called again to inquire, and the rep whom I spoke to then told me no later than Tuesday, those checks would be mailed to me. Never mentioned anything about me not being able to get those checks because the matter was still being investigated. Only to call yesterday, and “Carlos” tells me that because the matter was still being investigated I wouldn’t be getting said checks anytime soon. DT has the worst customer service reps. They lack communication skills to say the least, and Managers suck as well, because none are ever available to deal with issues. I would return the vehicle tomorrow and NEVER deal with you again over this experience alone. The fact that no one has been able to contact me with a solid explanation is deplorable. But heaven forbid I’m late making a payment, DT will be sure to call and harass me until either a payment is made, or the vehicle is collected or returned to the dealer. Drive Time is the epitome of HORRIBLE customer service. You can be sure that this email will also be posted as a review for your company. -Elsa

I was laid off from a job and unemployed for a year. I ended up having to settle for a job that pays half as much as I am used to making. As a result of my unemployment, my credit dropped significantly and as I mentioned before, when I became employed again, my income also decreased dramatically. My vehicle had over 100,000 miles on it and it worried me that if something major were to go out on my vehicle, I might not be able to repair it and could end up without a vehicle and still paying on something that I couldnt even drive. With all of that being said, I went to a few car dealerships in the Tampa area to trade in my vehicle for something with a lower payment, lower miles, and a warranty. No one would finance me because I have a mortgage in my name and with my income currently being so low, my debt to income ratio was not where it needed to be to get approved; and on top of that, my credit is not currently so great. I left the last dealership in tears, feeling really defeated and hopeless. When I was telling a friend about my experiences, she suggested I try Drivetime. I was really nervous when I went in there. I was scared of being rejected all over again and going through the emotional rollarcoaster again. I was greeted by Patrick, one of the sales associates. I explained my situation to Patrick and to help ease my anxiety, he offered for us to sit down and go through all of my information to see what they would be able to approve me for. His supervisor (I forget his name) was also super nice and very helpful as well! The two of them worked together to get me approved and help me to feel comfortable and confident about my experience with them. I was truly blown away by the outstanding level of service that I received by these two guys! Patrick even drove me all the way out to another one of their locations, to look at some vehicles over there. I ended up with a vehicle that I am very happy with. The mileage is a bit higher than I was hoping for, but the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty takes away all of my fears regarding the extra bit of miles on the vehicle. This place (the Florida/Fowler location) has 5 STAR customer service! Patrick never once made me feel pressured into anything, and I could sense that he (and his supervisor too) genuinely cares about my well being and had the goal of making me happy, above anything else. The reasons that I gave a 4 star rating instead of 5 stars, is because I wasnt impressed with the condition of the interiors of some of the cars that I was looking at. However, I was looking in a lower price range, so maybe the higher end vehicles have nicer interiors. I just noticed that some of the cosmetic stuff that could easily and cheapily be fixed/touched up, was over looked. Also, the interest rates are as high as credit card interest rates, which sucks. Other than that, I give them 5 stars! As far as the negative reviews that I have read about this company harrassing people when payments are late. . . Pay your damn payment on time or call them and communicate with them and I am sure that problem would be solved. I am grateful that Drivetime is around to help people like me to rebuild credit and purchase a vehicle with a great warranty.

I brought a 2007 Chrysler Sebring from DriveTime. This is my first car ever and I was very excited. After about 3 days of having the car the front passenger side window broke. I was working an hour away from home in Lakeland when this all happened. I had to drive all the way back to DriveTime which was an hour away. When I arrived this is when I really started to regret ever buying from DriveTime. The General Manager at the location seemed like he just didnt care about me being upset regarding my window. Almost everyone of them employee minus Christian and Dan made my life nothing but hell. DriveTime had a mechanic at the location who was unable to fix the window. So what they did was removed the motor from the window and stuck some carboard in the window to keep it from going down. This looked ghetto and VERY unprofessional. On top of that the the mechanic then broke my damn door on the rear passenger side and they told me to just take the car to the shop and have them fix it. This is all taking place on a Saturday so no car shops were open. So I leave and all of a sudden Im driving the car and it turns off on me while Im driving. This is unsafe and scary. So I take it back to DriveTime once again within a 2 hour frame. When I came back I told them that the car turned off on me and that the steering wheel locked. They test drove the car and they said they nothing seemed wrong. One of the employee starting ramming me with questions back to back acting as if I made all this up. I felt disrespected. Im not sure if he was trying to intimidate me but it didnt work. So me and Dan are sitting in the back lot about to check the car to see where they power settings are standing at and all of a sudden the car was idle and it turned off on its own. I told Dan thats what happen to me when I was driving. A small smile went on his face and he said I never said that you was lying. My overall experience yesterday was unbelievable. Once I pay off this car I will never come back to DriveTime again. They always tell us to recommend a friend to come to DriveTime. Why would I ever do that? No one in the world deserves to deal with rude employees who call their customers a lier. Im paying $400 a month to deal with rude inconsiderate unprofessional employees.
