Bought a tandem bike on Sat. Sep. 10 from Mike. Discovered hidden damage to front shifter cable housing on Sep. 17. Cable housing was broken but taped to handlebar on either side of break to temporarily preserve function. Called bike shop immediately but they were gone to trade show in Las Vegas and not to return until Monday. Called again on Saturday Sep. 24 (spoke to Mike) and brought bike in on Sep. 25. Called to check status on Sat. Oct. 1, repairs not complete but then completed later same day. Arrived for pick-up evening of Oct. 1 and shop charged $10.75. Accused us of creating the damage. I argued successfully that the damage existed when purchased and shopkeeper (Mike) accepted this argument but then argued that they bike was sold "as-is" though we were not told this before we paid for the bike. They also did not call us and inform us that there would be a charge before they made the repairs. It seems they have set up for themselves an incentive to not thoroughly check out used bikes before they sell them. $10.75 is not a lot of money but I find it offensive that they would charge for hidden damage present at time of purchase. Might as well buy it off of craigslist because they dont stand behind it unless you fully disassemble and inspect it in the store before you buy it. My girlfriend might also post a review concerning this same transaction (since we bought the tandem together).

I have been a customer of Damn Good Bikes since the day it opened, Matter of fact I found that the owner Mike to be so fair and honest that I have volunteered on many occasions to help him make improvements to the store because we need more successful businesses like "Damn Good Bikes" in town. In regards to the complaint below by "Sean" I saw that bike both when it came in originally (USED), as well as when it came in needing the repairs he complains about, the bike was obviously wiped out (bent components and frame) in a major crash AFTER it was purchased on the side of the "Damaged Cable", in my honest opinion Mike should have charged him the full cost of the repair, instead he discounted it and the gentlemen returns the favor by leaving an unfavorable review, I guess the old saying is true "You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all people all the time" Damn Good Bikes is a Great Shop, with Good People, that sell bikes and accessories at Excellent prices backed by Awesome service.....

I have had three experiences with this bike shop. The first time I took my bike in I paid 25 bucks to get a standard tuneup because the bike had some time since the last tune. The mechanics were friendly and seemed fairly knowledgeable, especially considering the price for the tune. Several months later, I was experiencing a problem with my chain slipping off the chain-ring when peddling hard up steep hills in the woods. Since I recently had a tune, the mechanics didnt charge to look over the bike. They pointed out the wear on the aluminum chainring and researched a replacement. I have a yeti 575 2x10 and Mike went out of his way to find the cheapest parts that would properly fit. He charged just over cost of parts to install it, and even payed for the shipping. Just recently I had a spoke that broke on the back wheel. This was my first time replacing a spoke and the mechanics sold me the tool and a few spokes. They explained how to fix it, and said if I couldnt get it, they would fix it no charge.

I have purchased 2 bikes from this store (a fixed gear and a 29er) and I love riding them. DGB offers an ever expanding selection of bicycles and accessories. They dont carry $5,000 bikes; they serve the "regular guy" who rides. I consider myself a fairly serious rider. I commute every day on my bike and I race triathlons and an occasional alley cat and I get everything I need at this shop. Ive had to special order a few items like waterproof panniers and fenders, but I cant expect them to keep everything I could possibly want in stock. Even though I live on the other side of town, Ill keep coming back.

One of the best local bike shops in town, whether you’re looking to purchase a new bike or have one serviced and/or repaired. The staff there is very friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased my first "real" mountain bike there and I honestly could not be any happier. The guys helped me make an informed decision based on my needs, wants and my budget. The free tune ups are also an added bonus, if you’re buying your bike from them. And they’re conveniently located near Tallahassee’s popular mountain biking trails (i.e. Tom Brown and Lafayette Heritage).

There are a lot of great bike shops in Tallahassee and Damn Good Bikes is one of the best. I went in looking for a used extra-small road bike. They didnt have what I was looking for, but the salesman in the shop told me he recently saw one on craigslist and even got on the computer and showed me the add! We talked a little about fitting and he gave me some great advice on top tube length. Although I didnt end of getting a bike. I spent a lot of time browsing and they have some damn good bikes with damn good components for damn good prices!

I have had several repairs done by DGB. I am hard on my bike and ride it almost daily. They have always been fair with me and done everything they could to save me money on my repair as well as get the best product for the money. I have had to come back in for adjustments after the repairs and wasnt charged for the visits. The staff is very friendly and I have never thought of any of them as smug... I recommend this shop to anyone who is looking for a good used/ new bike or repairs on their bike.

I had a terrific time during my bicycle shopping process. After visiting a few other stores around town, the prices here were very reasonable, and the customer service was superb. Jackie pulled several bikes for me to try as we figured out which one could be mine, all the while making me feel comfortable and not pressured at all. She even gave us popsicles while one of the bikes got a quick tune up! Definitely a positive buying experience.

I didnt think the owner was smug at all. He was incredibly helpful to me, and was more than willing to give me all the tips and advice he could! I had a great experience with Colin and Matt there, as well~ I highly recommend this shop to anyone in need of an affordable bike and A+ service! I will continue going there for all of my cycling needs! Thanks so much, Mike!

Bill the mechanic was very helpful and nice. I dont know anything about bikes and had LOTS of questions, and both Bill and the owner gladly explained everything I wanted to know. I am very appreciative of their help. I will give them all of my business when it comes to bikes.
