My mother brought in a PC for removal of malware, (specifically a rootkit, for you techies out there) which I would have serviced myself if we lived in the same city. All they did was install Microsoft Security Essentials, performed a quick scan and relied solely on that program to resolve the malware issue, which is something ANYONE can do with the help of google. This did absolutely nothing for the computer, and the performance of the computer still suffered as if nothing were fixed. They charged her $150, held her PC for a day, and when she came back to them to ask when they didnt fix the problem she paid them for, they responded with, "You need better hardware." The PC in question is a dell vostro V13 running a 32bit version of windows 7 with a core 2 duo 1.3ghz and 2G of RAM, which is more than enough to run windows 7. Hell, Ive thrown together a single core AMD with 1GB of ram and it runs windows 7 fairly smoothly, in terms of just simple web browsing, youtube, e-mail, etc, which is exactly what the owner was using her computer for. Bottom Line: They took money for a service they didnt perform, did not offer a refund, and blatantly LIED to the customers face. I will no ever do business with them ever, unless warranty was offered, and even then, I would worry about their lies. For anyone curious of what the malware/rootkit was, it was Alureon.a which I was able to remedy with 2 small programs. (One was TDDSKiller and the other, combofix) Im actually writing this review on the computer that Central Computers was unable to fix and was quite unuseable after they returned it. Unuseable until I got to it that is. . . . Its a shame that my half an hour of work yielded better result than a $150 service/scam from Central Computers, and Im a business major not computer science or programming etc etc etc etc. They probably have alot of satisfied customer in sales, (Probably because it mostly involves buying a brand new item at cost, setting a profit margin goal, and let the benefits of the product sell itself, through means of a decent salesperson) But if they want to sevice technology, they should probably educate themselves more instead of scamming people

Brought my laptop here for a screen repair. They never told me that they will send it out for repair or diagnostics. Its been a week, no diagnostics had been made and their unknown external technicians would not still give a feedback and still holding on to my computer for a week now. Everytime I will follow up with them, they are trying to pinpoint their external source which they would not name and they would not give out the phone number and would not know the status of the diagnostics or repair or quote. How silly of me bringing my laptop here in this silly place in the first place. The problem is how can I get it back!! At first they have quoted me $179 just to replace my laptops LCD and $29 just to diagnose it. After more than one week they finally told me that it will cost me $230 just to replace and repair my laptops screen. They have lied to me from the start making me think that their technicians are in the premises, and that it will take them only a couple of days to diagnose it. Finally they lied to me about the pricing, from $179 to $230 just to replace my laptops LCD. Now I know what kind of business is this tricky place!! (And they still had charged me the $29 to diagnose it, which is not so expensive but I think its a trap to make you go into their premises and try their crappy/tricky services in this regard!)

This is the second time Ive had them build me a computer. I wanted a fairly high end gaming computer and didnt quite find the mix I wanted and I really didnt want the hassle of building one myself. I took a researched list that was a option list off of one of their gaming configurations in and worked with a tech to polish it a little. I did know what I wanted pretty much and the discussion items were minor, but both added and subtracted from the planned bill. I walked away with a custom PC that is exactly what I am willing to pay for and is a balanced performance machine across the board. Ill post again after I have it and run it for a while, but Im very happy with the service support I got and can live with the prices being a little bit more than Frys. Now run for a couple of weeks. Rock stable and very fast. The only thing I would do differntly is Raid 0 the SSD drive to get the extra size - have to push stuff to D to conserve space now.Glad they upgraded me to Windows 7 Pro - need at least that level to install XP mode and I needed it for a couple of pprograms.

this is the absolute worst place i have ever dealt with in my life in any capacity they are the most incompetent people i have ever seen, i took my laptop for them to fix,all it had was a wifi problem , they tell me that the hard drive is bad a hard drive they installed so they agree to replace it turns out the geniuses did not back up my hard drive ,bought me in a replacement that hardly works they threw away my old drive with all my data on it , When I asked them how they can throw a drive without backing up a data ,something a monkey would understand they acted surprised . Anyway after all my frustrations with them and going back and forth with them and listening to their multiple lies i walked away the laptop still has the same problems so obviously their diagnostic was very wrong ,their service horrible , and their knowledge abjectly bad I would avoid this place in the future like the plague,

I was having problems with my laptop overheating. I noticed when looking inside that the fan was not working properly and it needed to be cleaned. I took my laptop into Central Computers for the $139.00 maintenance package. They said they would replace the fan and the thermal paste. When I got the laptop back they said the fan had something stuck inside it and it was fixed. I paid the $, took it home, turned it on only to find it was having the same problems. Again I opened it up and found that not only had the fan not been replaced but they didnt replace any of the thermal paste they said came with the service. Since then I had the paste replaced by another source and my laptop has been working great. Thanks for 139 dollars worth of nothing Central Computers, you will never get my business again.

Quality before Quantity Central Computers is the answer to big box stores of Tech. There are two other options in Silicon Valley and I would rather visit Central Computers before them. A truly "central" computer store, this location occupies the entire first floor of a multi-store building amid Stevens Creek Blvd. Although its total selection might pale when compared to the other two larger tech stores in the area, its service does not. Friendly, knowledgeable, honest and respectful employees will help with any computer need you may have. And if they dont have it, theyll tell you where best to find it. Dont get lost in a box store, check out Central Computers where youll feel like a friend, not just another random customer.
