I cannot believe how bad this dealer treats customers and runs their operations! Weve been shopping for a compact SVU for 4 weeks and have been to 8 dealers of various makes. This is by far the worst experience ever! First off, we called ahead of time to check inventory and was told they have two of the cars we wanted in stock and ready to test drive. We have a 2 month old baby and did not want to waste any time with the sitter. When we showed up at the arranged time, the sales person we talked to was no where to be found. A young guy that looked and acted like an 18 year old took us out to look for the car in question. After 15 minutes, he could not find it in the outdoor lot. We then headed inside, up two flights of stairs to look in their indoor lot. After another 10 minutes, he still could not find the car and left us there to search elsewhere. We looked around for another 15 minutes and then headed back downstairs and waited some more. Went back to the sales area, the first guy told us a different sales person would help us. Went back to the same lot and still could not find the car. He then offers to look upstairs again and that’s when I realized that these fools do not know what they are doing. When I expressed some polite frustration, I was treated as the person that made the mistake. He finally takes a quick look on his computer and said that there were none in stock in the entire state of California. Later the same day I get a call back and was told that by the original sales person that they had the car we wanted. We talked some more and found out he wrote down the wrong car model. Searching further, the exact car IS available from a different dealer in San Jose. What the …..??? So here is what I realized about this dealer: 1. They don’t know what they are doing. How in the world do you not know the location of a $45,000 car on your property? 2. Their staff is incompetent and their database is unreliable. Why did we waste 45 minutes when we called ahead of time and was told the car was available? 3. They do not value customers’ time or respect them. Why the rude treatment when you are the sales person trying to sell me on a car? 4. The bad reviews on here must be true. Be careful of the 5 star ads! I suspect none of them are real! FYI, we currently own a VW and after a lot of searching was fairly certain we wanted another one. Now, I’m not so sure and would NEVER have any dealings with this dealer even though they are in my area.

Avoid this place at all cost!!!! I live in Tempe, AZ and travel to Bay area for 5 days. My 2003 Passat had a bad CV axle and a bad tire that made the car shake like crazy when driving (I didnt know this at first). I had both front axles changed a several months ago at a local mechanic, so this time I wanted to take my car to a official dealership for a quality service despite of the high cost. So booked a 7:15 appointment but when I arrive the service man (named David) told me the mechanics are not here until 8 so I have to wait. I explained to him to Im here because my car shakes when driving and he started telling me that maybe the engine check light had something to do with it (I had my engine check light on since I bought the car and it never shakes at all). After a while, he came and told me that my car had a couple of broken joints/plugs/valves and an old catalytic converter that caused the shaking. The price for the catalytic converter is 1700 (for the part only). I did a research on my own and people said that the catalytic converter doesnt cause the shaking at all so I refused to change that by saying I didnt have the money (his offer is 2500 totally). He kept going back and forth, tried to offer me a 10% and 20% discount but I still refused, I insist on changing everything except the catalytic converter. So my final bill was over 500 for changing some valves and plugs (the labor is 360 WTF, it took them like 15 mins for the job). I paid the money with the hope that my car with drive normally again but NO, it was shaking exacting the same as before. I brought the car back and started yelling. He- David the service/sale man tried to tell me that I have to change the catalytic converter as well in order to fix that. I told him that I knew that catalytic converter had nothing to do with the shaking. He asked a mechanic to drive with me and that mechanic admitted that the parts on my $500-bill and the catalytic converter had nothing to do with the shaking problem. I told David that and he explained that those things will help with the gas millage (what the heck, I brought my car in for the shaking and he tried to help me improve my gas millage????) and told me my front tire is bad which caused the shaking. Finally, he had to refund me (Yayyy!!!) and asked if he can replace my tire but he kind of refuse any other services for me.... That being said, NEVER go to this place, they have nice customer lounge and good coffee but they will RIP YOU OFF!

I LOVE Voltswagen of Oakland! Come, Come COME! I love the service, the people, the positive energy, the sense of urgency, and its diversity. They are ALL personable. I cant imagine being at a different dealership. Mike Boldischar and Webster Medley both in Service, hands down need a raise and recognition. Most dealerships are truly out for your money and dont care at all about your well being of even what other financial obligations you may have. However; these guys actually both have hearts and you can see it just by talking to them! I have a 2011 VW Jetta, Ive had it for some time. It needed to be service and I did not have the money and left it in the customer parking lot. ( it should have not been there that long) I was extremely careless, irresponsible, neglectful and ignorant to what could happen to my car. I abandoned it, I finally had the money to pay for it, but it was up for lien sell. Terrified that was even in process. I talked to Webster who is such a SWEETHEART and DOWN TO EARTH and Mike who is definitely UNDERSTANDING and HELPFUL. Both help me in the situation I put myself in. So rather than hurting me when I WAS in the WRONG by being human beings with an heart and making thjngs work out they made I got my car back and FIXED. I really really appreciate these guys, not for what they did for me but because they will work with ME or even you! I am super grateful because The situation could have resulted differently. But they are NOT bad people. They want you as VIP at VW of Oakland. It really sucks when this dearlership gets blasted negatively off interactions that could have easily been solved like mine with communication and patience. There are people who walk in and out of VW of Oakland with smiles on their face but is to lazy to yelp it. I would have been one of them if I didnt stop and really see how supportive and helpful things were for me. I hope my intentions impacted who ever is reading this looking for a place to get their car finance, fixed or traded it fine. I will stand by this dealership because overall they are there to help you. I know its case by case situations, but they are not the bad guys. ❤️ -TT
