Mitsuwa is one of the more popular Japanese supermarkets and probably the closest one to central Los Angeles. Its half grocery store and half food court. The food court has about four different "restaurants," offering the spectrum of all the Japanese cuisines staples, from hot soups, ramens, teriyaki, noodles, katsu, and tempura. For those that have a sweet tooth there is a coffee and bakery with French Japanese pastry fusions and coffee/tea lattes. The market is loaded with all kinds of Japanese and other Asian ingredients, most of which you cant find at any regular market. Pickled veggies, misos, soba noodles, sushi fish, yakitori or Japanese BBQ sliced meats (very thinly sliced tender cuts of beef), all cooking condiments, nori seaweed sheets, candies and cookies, rice crackers, soy milk, teas, great sakis, and more! There are prepared bowls, bento boxes, sushi/rolls, and sides that you can grab to-go for lunch or to bring home for dinner which are all yummy! I come here to have some delicious ramen in the food court (especially in the winter) and to grab some produce and some items to diversify my cooking.

Awesome Japanese market and food court. The market isnt huge, but well stocked with Japanese goods not typically found in your local grocery store. Some good deals during sales (especially on high quality rice). Also a good selection of Japanese lunch boxes (bento) made fresh earlier in the day with reasonable prices. The food court is awesome and extremely well priced. Check out Santouka for excellent ramen that can compete with more expensive sit down restaurants and Hannosuke for delicious, fresh, and generous tempura bowls. The bakery makes some awesome fresh Japanese style breads and pastries with unique and interesting drinks to match. Definitely stop by if you need some Japanese groceries or some authentic cuisine for a good price!

We mainly go here for the restaurants in the food court. You cant find a better collection of good though not fancy restaurants in this part of the town. (I live a couple of blocks from the Sawtelle strip where arguably has the densest concentration of fine restaurants and ecclectic eateries in all of Southern California.) The food court place is crawling with people especially during lunch and dinner times. Among the restaurants here, Santouka is my personal favorite, they have the best ramen in town. Hannosuke serves tendon (tempura bowl). Sanuki Sandou specializes in udon dishes. Misasa has a more varied Japanese menu and is known for their bento box meals.

As a new mom, my family and I are always looking for "kid friendly" restaurants and I love coming to Mitsuwa. Their food court is open and loud, which makes for a great place for potential screaming and food throwing scenarios. Its also simple; order from any of the restaurants (ramen or curry is usually our staples), grab some rice crackers or bento boxes from the market and you are good to go. Although the food court is normally crowded during prime lunch/dinner hours we never have an issue with sharing their larger tables or taking a stroll in the market to bide time. A great place for a simple no-fuss meal or a quick run to the Asian supermarket.

YASSSS. I love Mitsuwa. This place is great! They not only carry Japanese staple kitchen stuff, but they also have the weird Japanese version of anything you can think of. Green tea oreo, Plum poke, etc. They also have a fresh food section at the front of the store. I always stop by and grab a thing or two...or four. The food is always fresh, delicious, and cheap. Despite being a small place, they fit a ton of merchandise. Be warned that parking can be difficult because the area is heavily impacted. But other than that, everyone in the store is super nice and shopping here is always a pleasure.

The smaller of the two Mitsuwa Marketplaces in LA, this one is still chocked full of goodness! Comprised of multiple stores, including a gift shop, grocery store, food court and more, its easy to spend a few hours here. The gift shop has a wide selection of books, magazines and fun items to purchase. The grocery store is robust with both the basics and traditional foods, snacks and alcohol. The food court is varied, small, but with plenty of tasty options! Pro tip - parking in the lot can get full, if it is, dont give up! Use the street parking heading North on Centinela!

This is a gem in West Los Angeles and locals know it! The food court has several great selections for lunch and dinner and its inexpensive and delicious. Bring cash though as almost all the vendors dont accept credit. The store is great too. The fish is fresh, the to-go stuff is delicious (a bit pricey though) and there is a wide selection of foods. If you dont want to do downtown, but definitely want good food, this is the place to stop. Of course, do your shopping around lunch or dinner so you can stop for some great food at the food court too.

This review will have 2 parts, one for the store and the other for the food court. 1. The store is very clean and very well stocked with all kinds of cool Japanese items you may not normally come across. The weird Japanese drinks and candy are some great examples of not so common flavors you will here in the US. 2. Because this Mitsuwa is the closest to my work, I come here very often for lunch with my co-workers. They have a large food court with a number of food options. The ramen shop is probably the best followed by the bento shop.

Experience: I enjoy going here. It is a combination of a Japanese market with a cafeteria-like setting next to it. Highlights: The practicality of shopping for groceries and being able to eat right after. Pros: Import products from Japan/Asia. Reasonably priced quality foods with several choices of places. Cons: Parking can be full during busy hours. Btw: There is a boba place, bakery, and bookstore too! It is a very cozy environment. Buy some unique drinks from the market and bring it over to eat at the cafeteria.

Love this place. The market is great, It has many if not all Japanese market items one would expect to find at a Japanese market. The ramen at Santouka Ramen has to be some of the best ramen Ive had in LA. The curry at Misasa is on my top 5 of curry in LA. The only down side to the place is that it gets packed during lunch time, so finding a place to sit might be difficult. I regret not appreciating this place when I lived nearby, now I am miles away, and will most likely not be coming here as much anymore.

Market review: no better place than here to purchase Japanese groceries and packaged goods. Lots of snacks, food, and beverages available. Produce and meat section highly underrated. Meat quality is incredible and produce is fresh and fairly priced. Santouka review: best ramen in LA hands down. The focus here is on noodles and broth, not toppings or other gimmicks. Rice bowls are excellent if youre hungry. I recommend the Ikura bowl, refreshing when juxtaposed with the hearty soulwarming ramen.

need fresh, sushi-grade salmon or tuna? check. mochi ice cream? theyve got it. pocky? sake? how about a bowl of some of the best ramen in LA? all available at mitsuwa! an amazing asian market with a pretty spectacular japanese food court attached. santouka ramen is the main reason we keep coming back, but we seldom leave without a few extra goodies to take home, whether it be cute journals and pens from the stationary store inside or a basket of mango mochi ice cream.
